Service bulletins for the 2021 Ford F-150

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

ITRM-26.DC F-1502026-09-11. Over-the-air update. SERVICE BRAKES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. 26C10 Recall remedy -Addresses instances where the trailer lights and trailer brakes may not function
SSM 549402026-06-22. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER; SERVICE BRAKES. Some 2021-2026 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a U2100:00 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for initial configuration incomplete stored in the trailer control module (TRM). This may be due to the vehicle having a Ford accessory trailer brake kit installed without being programmed following the included instructions. If the vehicle was built with minor feature code FDDAA and a trailer brake gain switch is present in the stock location in the instrument panel, a Ford Accessory trailer brake kit has been installed on the vehicle. If a Ford Accessory trailer brake kit is present, download and run the "TRM - Towbar Configuration" application using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. To confirm a vehicle is built with a certain minor feature code, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS).

This may be due to ABS module software parameters. This condition does not affect brake system hydraulic functionality. Clear the DTC to restore ABS functionality. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition and will be released via an over the air (OTA) software update expected in November 2022. Software will update automatically if the vehicle is connected to FordPass/LincolnWay. Monitor OASIS for additional information. Schedule a service appointment for customers that are not connected to FordPass/LincolnWay once the repair becomes available.

This may be caused by an incorrectly routed front brake flexible hose. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to inspect the front brake flexible hose routing.
SSM 507132022-05-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Some 2021-2022 F-150/Bronco and 2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit an illuminated anti-lock brake system (ABS) indicator and stability-traction control indicator when ambient temperatures are below freezing, and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C1013:09 stored in the ABS module. This may be due to ABS module software parameters and the effects of low ambient temperature on brake fluid viscosity. This condition does not affect brake system hydraulic functionality. Clear the DTC to restore ABS and stability-traction control functionality and inform customers that Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) ABS update in November 2022 to prevent this condition.
SSM 507022022-04-20. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience a Programmable Module Installation (PMI) failure of the ABS module and/or PSCM with the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). An ABS module PMI failure message states: Procedure Unsuccessful - Get Flash Action Part Numbers Unable To Obtain Flash Action Part Numbers. A PSCM PMI failure message states: Procedure Unsuccessful - Check For Null Part Number Part Number Is Null For: SBL. This may be due to a software issue with the FDRS and is currently under investigation. As a temporary solution, connect a battery charger to the 12v battery and perform software updates to all other available modules. When these software updates are complete, continue with PMI of the ABS module and/or PSCM.
SSM 503272021-12-26. Service bulletin. PARKING BRAKE. Some 2021 F-150 Tremor vehicles built on or before 26-Aug-2021 may exhibit a condition where the active park assist system is inoperative with an Active Park Fault message displayed in the instrumental panel cluster (IPC) and/or in the SYNC display. This may be due to the software in the anti-lock brake system (ABS). To correct this condition, reprogram the ABS module using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). For claiming use causal part 2C219 and the applicable labor operations of Section 02 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience an illuminated anti-lock brake system (ABS) indicator in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3000:48 stored in the ABS module. The U3000:48 DTC in the ABS module typically sets in conjunction with various chassis DTCs. When addressing related ABS concerns, all chassis DTCs are to be diagnosed and resolved first using Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-09, before attempting to diagnose and resolve any network communication DTCs.
SSM 500642021-09-04. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC:SOFTWARE/PROGRAMMING. Some 2013-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit noise when the brakes are applied. When diagnosing and repairing brake noise conditions, use the Workshop Manual (WSM) and the appropriate pinpoint test in section 206-00. The brake rotors should only be machined if directed by the WSM because one or more of the following conditions are present on the braking surface: scoring, excessive corrosion/rust or pitting, bluing/discoloration and/or heat spots. For additional information, refer to WSM section 206-00.
SSM 497672021-05-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message after module programming has been completed. This may be due to a network interruption from programming or configuring modules, which can cause steering center find to be reset. When the steering center find is reset, this causes various features to become disabled. The steering center find can be relearned by driving the vehicle approximately 5 minutes above 18 mph (30 km/h) straight ahead on a flat surface with no steering inputs for a few seconds. When steering center is found the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message will go away.
SSM 494872021-02-04. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience difficulty in deactivating the Brake Service Mode when following the procedure in Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 206-00. The procedure in the WSM is being updated at this time, and the correct procedure is as follows: 1) Set the ignition to ON. 2) Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the electronic parking brake (EPB) switch in the APPLY (upward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the electronic parking brake EPB switch. 3) Firmly press the brake pedal for at least 1 second. Release the brake pedal while continuing to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch. 4) Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds, then release the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
