Service bulletins for the 2021 Ford F-150
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SSM 50184 | 2021-10-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:CLUTCHES/BANDS:ACTUATORS/SOLENOIDS. Some 2021 Bronco/F-150/Explorer/Aviator/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles, excluding hybrid, may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns. Most concerns may be addressed with the PCM/TCM Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. This routine cycles the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination that may be sticking the valves and must be performed along with an adaptive drive cycle before attempting internal service. Although this routine was developed for low mileage vehicles, its usage is being expanded for various symptoms across the life of the vehicle. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |

| SSM 50140 | 2021-09-28. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; POWER TRAIN. Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E, F-150, and Edge vehicles may experience a GWM and/or TCU programming failure with an error message displayed in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) stating The Programming Or Part Number Validation Process Has Failed. This may be due to the USB flash drive being removed from the vehicle media hub before fully completing reprogramming. Reprogram the module(s) following the vehicle onscreen prompts. After the ignition cycle during reprogramming, the touchscreen may go blank. This is a normal part of the reprogramming process. Leave the USB flash drive installed in the media hub until the touchscreen displays Update Successful. |
| SSM 50132 | 2021-09-28. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with a base instrument panel cluster (IPC), 4-inch display may experience the transmission temperature gauge reading inaccurately or low after the vehicle has been at operating temperature for quite some time. This may be due to various software parameters in the IPC. Ford is working on an update that is expected via over the air (OTA) in late February of 2022. The software will update automatically if Vehicle Connectivity is turned ON. Inform the customer that powertrain durability is not affected and they can continue to drive the vehicle. Contact the customer in March of 2022 to determine if they received the update. If the customer needs assistance, schedule a follow-up appointment. Monitor OASIS for updates. |
| 21B37 | 2021-09-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. It may be possible for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to enter an eninge no-start condition at key-on if the software detects a low oil level AND the oil life remaining is between 5-20%. Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E, F-150, Edge/Nautilus or Bronco vehicles equipped with SYNC 4 may have a customer symptom of the SYNC voice commands being activated without pushing the steering wheel switch. This may be due to the feature called Wake Word within SYNC 4. This feature allows the driver to activate the SYNC 4 system without pushing the steering wheel switch. Under the touchscreen Settings > Voice Settings the preferred Wake Word can be changed. The feature can also be disabled if the customer does not want the SYNC voice commands being activated without touching the steering wheel switch. This feature is not a defect. Do not submit a claim for this condition. |
