Service bulletins for the 2023 Ford F-150

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

In various 2017-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, customers may receive a message in the FordPass or LincolnWay App stating Feature Unavailable. Since this is a fleet vehicle, it cannot access the (SYNC Connect) FordPass or LincolnWay app through the TCU Embedded Modem. If this message appears, the vehicle may be equipped with a fleet telematics module. Replacement of the TCU or TCU related repairs will not prevent this message from appearing. Refer the customer to in app FordPass Guides or LincolnWay Concierge Teams to aid with fleet telematics removal. Open app, select Account > Help > CHAT or CALL option.
SSM 518932023-09-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may exhibit all modules on the HS2, HS3, HS4 and MS CAN networks not responding to the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and modules on these networks fail the network test. Modules on the FD1 and HS1 networks will communicate with the FDRS. Vehicles equipped with a power opening/closing tailgate may also exhibit an inoperative power tailgate. This may be due to a gateway module (GWM) that is not configured properly. To correct this condition, download and run the GWM - Gateway Module A (GWM) Configuration application. For claiming, use causal part number 14G490 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standard (SLTS) Manual.

SSM 516882023-06-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may exhibit an inoperative camera and diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) C1001:01 in the Sync Module (APIM), B115E:15 and/or B115E:31 in the Image Processing Module A (IPMA). This may be due to a loose coaxial cable or circuit connection. If only APIM DTC C1001:01 is present, verify connections between the IPMA and the APIM. If IPMA DTCs B115E:15 and/or B115E:31 are also present, verify connections between the IPMA and the affected camera(s). Refer to cell 145 of the online wiring diagram to identify affected connections. If an issue is found with any coaxial cable, the coaxial cable (10E929) can be serviced individually instead of the entire harness. If all connections are secure, continue with diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 413-13B. For claiming, use causal part number 10E929 and applicable labor operations in Section *10.
SSM 516532023-05-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. 2020-2023 Escape/Explorer, 2021-2023 F-150 and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles equipped with a full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain may exhibit a cable connection error screen from the Midtronics xRC-3363 High Voltage Battery Rescue Charger. The xRC-3363 will prompt the Technician to verify the low voltage connections, when no actual fault is present. The technician will need to delete the WiFi connection from the xRC-3365 so it will not automatically reconnect and adjust the date. Next go to Settings>Shop Information>Date/Time Settings and change the date prior to May 1, 2023 and stay off the internet so it will not auto correct itself. Press and hold the power button until the tool turns off. Then turn the xRC-3365 back on and attempt the rescue charge.

TSB 23-21252023-05-30. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARE. Some 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning vehicles with the platinum trim level may exhibit a lower than expected vehicle range reading in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) after charging to 80% or higher using a level 1 or level 2 alternating current (AC) charger. This may be due to software in the secondary on board diagnostic module C (SOBDMC). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram various modules starting with the (SOBDMC).
SSM 516012023-05-24. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL; TRAILER HITCHES. Some 2021-2023 F-150 and 2022-2023 F-Super Duty/Expedition/Navigator/Maverick vehicles equipped with an integrated trailer module (iTRM) may exhibit a trailer lamp fault message with various related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). Most trailer emulator testers will not draw enough current to correctly diagnose these concerns. They may be used to diagnose basic functionality of the iTRM, however, some trailer emulator testers may cause false trailer lamp fault messages to appear. The customer's trailer should be used for diagnosis instead of a trailer emulator tester. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01 for normal diagnostics.
SSM 515672023-05-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2022-2023 F-150 PowerBoost vehicles may exhibit a condition where the Midtronics DCA8000P battery tester is unable to test the auxiliary battery. Engineering is aware of this condition and updated software will be loaded in the DCA8000P battery tester in September of 2023 allowing the tester to test the auxiliary battery and generate a battery approval code and diagnostic trouble code (DTC). Follow Workshop Manual (WSM) section 414-01 Battery Diagnosis and Testing to verify battery condition. If the auxiliary battery needs to be replaced a repair validation code (RVC) is not required at this time and should be replaced following the Warranty and Policy Manual standard claiming procedures. Monitor OASIS for additional updates.
