Service bulletins for the 2023 Ford F-150

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 548202026-05-18. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U023A:08 in the steering column control module (SCCM) after reprogramming the SCCM with no customer symptoms present. If the vehicles automatic high beam operation is fully functional, this DTC does not affect vehicle operation, and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition. Replacement or reprogramming of the SCCM or image processing module A (IPMA) will not resolve this condition. To validate that the automatic high beam system is fully operational, cover the light sensor located in the middle of the dashboard to activate the automatic low beam headlamps. Push the steering wheel multifunction switch forward to cycle through both high beam settings which will be represented in the instrument cluster panel (IPC) as a white telltale (automatic mode - the high beams will not turn on while testing) and a blue telltale (manual mode - the high beams will turn on). If any of the telltales did not illuminate when the steering wheel multifunction switch is pressed forward, refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM)

SSM 521042023-12-11. Service bulletin. STEERING:COLUMN; EQUIPMENT. Some 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning vehicles may exhibit an inoperative heated steering wheel after a preconditioned start up and/or diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B112B:49 stored in the steering column control module (SCCM). This may be due to the software level of the SCCM. To correct this condition, reprogram the SCCM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) located under the SW Updates tab. For claiming, use causal part 3F791 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SSM 512262023-01-05. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER; STEERING:STEERING CONTROL MODULE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may experience a lack of steering assist upon start-up along with a Steering Assist Fault message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U3001:89 and U3000:96 in the power steering control module (PSCM). This may be due to low voltage at the PSCM. Power steering assist will be restored when sufficient voltage is supplied. To clear the DTCs using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS), select and run the PSCM - Reset the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) application. Once cleared, cycle the ignition to verify normal system operation. If the DTCs return, refer to Workshop Manual Section 211-02 for normal diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 3504.
