Service bulletins for the 2021 Ford F-150
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

This may be due to a misalignment of the the door or hood and/or their strikers. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement, check the door and/or hood and their strikers for proper alignment. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-03 alignment procedures. If the doors and hood are properly aligned, continue with normal diagnostics. |
| SSM 49795 | 2021-06-01. Service bulletin. COMMUNICATION:MANUFACTURER TELEMATICS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2018-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may not be able to perform remote commands via the FordPass/LincolnWay App due to an erroneous deep sleep message. If the vehicle has been driven within 14 days and the battery state of charge is above 9.5 volts when the deep sleep message set, this is an erroneous message. Starting and running the vehicle will clear the message and allow the remote commands to function again. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that will be released via an over the air (OTA) update that is expected in June 2021. Replacement or reprogramming of the telematics control unit (TCU)/gateway module (GWM) will not resolve this condition. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. |

Some 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine and the 7.2 kilowatt (kW) inverter system may experience a "Pro Power Onboard Service Required" message in the center stack display and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0364 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to various software parameters within the direct current/alternating converter module A (DCACA) inverter and the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM and the DCACA inverter. |
| TSB 21-2126 | 2021-05-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine built on or before 9-Apr-2021 may exhibit a no start/no powertrain control module (PCM) communication condition if the oil level is approximately 1 or more quarts low and the oil life is at or less than 20%. This may be due to various parameters within the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reset and reprogram the PCM. |
| SSM 49767 | 2021-05-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message after module programming has been completed. This may be due to a network interruption from programming or configuring modules, which can cause steering center find to be reset. When the steering center find is reset, this causes various features to become disabled. The steering center find can be relearned by driving the vehicle approximately 5 minutes above 18 mph (30 km/h) straight ahead on a flat surface with no steering inputs for a few seconds. When steering center is found the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message will go away. |
| SSM 49761 | 2021-05-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2011-2021 Mustang and F-150 vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit a ticking noise at idle after an engine oil change. It is often referred to as typewriter noise because of its similarity to the sound of a mechanical typewriter. The noise in question may be heard on some engines when engine temperatures reach 150F (65Å’C) or higher and engine speed is at idle up to approximately 1700 RPMs. It can typically be heard at the front wheel well and is often isolated to the transmission bell housing or oil pan area. The typewriter noise is not detrimental to the engine function or durability and has no short or long term effects on the engine. This an operating characteristic of the 5.0L engine and no repairs should be attempted. |
| SSM 49756 | 2021-05-03. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARE. Some 2018-2021 vehicles supported by FDRS may not list a software update for a module under the SW Updates tab although an SSM or TSB is published for a software update. This may be due to the module already being at the latest software level. A later software level may have been programmed at the assembly plant, during a previous dealer visit or by an over the air (OTA) update for vehicles that have automatic updates enabled in the SYNC system settings. To review a vehicle's OTA update history, visit the Connected Vehicle > OTA Dashboard tab in OASIS. Information about the OTA Dashboard can be found on FMCDealer.com when performing a search on OTA History Job Aid. |

Some 2020-2021 Explorer/Aviator/Police Interceptor Utility and 2021 F-150 Hybrid vehicles equipped with a 10R80 modular hybrid transmission (MHT) and with less than 100 miles (160 kilometers) may exhibit a transmission fluid leak that appears to be coming from between the hybrid drive unit and transmission case joint. This condition may be due to residual transmission fluid trapped between the front module and transmission case joint during the assembly process. Clean the area thoroughly and reevaluate with the vehicle at operating temperature before attempting any leak related repairs. |
| SSM 49746 | 2021-05-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience intermittent inoperative remote commands from the FordPass mobile app. Intermittent command behavior may also lead the customer to believe there is no cellular signal or coverage. FordPass mobile app commands may become operative again after starting the vehicle with the ignition or key fob. This may be due to software in the gateway module (GWM). To correct the condition, reprogram the GWM using the latest level of the appropriate scan tool. Vehicles with automatic updates enabled may receive this software via an over-the-air update. For claiming, use causal part number 14G490 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standard (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 49738 | 2021-05-03. Service bulletin. STEERING; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY:VEHICLE CONTROLS:BRAKING. The steering center find can be relearned by driving the vehicle above 10 mph (16 km/h) for over 10 minutes. |
