Service bulletins for the 2021 Ford F-150
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SSM 50388 | 2022-02-04. Service bulletin. LANE DEPARTURE: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty/Explorer/Aviator and 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Front Camera Fault, Lane Keeping Fault, and/or Collison Warning Not Available message with various diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored in the image processing module A (IPMA). If programming fails or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) states a file failed to flash after replacing the IPMA or reprogramming IPMA software, test the battery using any approved Rotunda tool including the GR-190, GRX-3590, and DCA-8000. Fully recharge or replace the battery according to results of the tool. Set the battery charger to maintain battery voltage between 12.6 and 13.6 volts during the entire programming procedure. The IPMA programming procedure may take several hours to complete due to the size of the software files required. |
| SSM 50276 | 2021-12-07. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:HUD:CAMERA/SENSOR; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E/F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with missing active guide lines in the reverse camera display. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0415:86 may also be present in the IPMA. This may be due to a network interruption during module programming and/or when a module was disconnected which can cause the steering center find to be reset and various features to become disabled. The steering center find can be relearned by driving the vehicle for approximately 5 minutes, above 18 mph (30 km/h) and with no steering wheel input for a few seconds. When steering center is found, the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message should clear. If the active guide lines are missing, perform the IPMA camera alignment using Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). |
| SSM 50217 | 2021-10-29. Service bulletin. ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC):CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0143:87 stored in the trailer module (TRM). This may be due to various software parameters in the TRM. This DTC should be disregarded as it does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TRM update beginning in March 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting. |
| SSM 50162 | 2021-10-01. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION. Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E and F-150 vehicles equipped with a 360 degree camera system may experience a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1578:78 in the image processing module A (IPMA) after an on-demand self test is performed. To clear the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message displayed in the IPC, download and run the 360 Degree View Camera Alignment app for the IPMA using the latest version of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). Once the 360 Degree View Camera Alignment routine is successful and the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message is no longer displayed in the IPC, perform a continuous memory self test. If any DTC's persist, continue with Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-07 diagnostic procedures. |
| SSM 50006 | 2021-09-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; BACK OVER PREVENTION. Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit an inoperative camera and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) C1001:01 in the Sync Module (APIM), B115E:15 and/or B115E:31 in the Image Processing Module A (IPMA). This may be due to a loose coaxial cable or circuit connection. If only APIM DTC C1001:01 is present, verify connections between the IPMA and the APIM. If IPMA DTCs B115E:15 and/or B115E:31 are also present, verify connections between the IPMA and the affected camera(s). Refer to cell 145 of the online wiring diagram to identify affected connections. If all connections are secure, continue with diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 413-13B. For claiming, use causal part number 10E929. |
| OTA SU1-F150 | 2021-09-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER; BACK OVER PREVENTION. Software Update 1 (SU1) for 2021 Model Year F-150 vehicles is now available. Involves: Trail Light Check Popup Messages, Remote Start Battery Drain, Zone Lighting Battery Drain, Neutral Tow Select Ability, Contrast improvements to analog rear view camera |
| SSM 49756 | 2021-05-03. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION:SOFTWARE. Some 2018-2021 vehicles supported by FDRS may not list a software update for a module under the SW Updates tab although an SSM or TSB is published for a software update. This may be due to the module already being at the latest software level. A later software level may have been programmed at the assembly plant, during a previous dealer visit or by an over the air (OTA) update for vehicles that have automatic updates enabled in the SYNC system settings. To review a vehicle's OTA update history, visit the Connected Vehicle > OTA Dashboard tab in OASIS. Information about the OTA Dashboard can be found on FMCDealer.com when performing a search on OTA History Job Aid. |
The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
