Service bulletins for the 2021 Ford Bronco

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

TSB 21-23542021-11-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some 2021 Bronco vehicles built on or before 23-Aug-2021 may experience a charging system fault message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) U012D, U0284 and/or U0285 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to water intrusion in the active grille shutter connector. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to inspect for water intrusion in the active grille shutter harness connector and repair as needed.
SSM 502102021-10-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT; ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Some 2021 Bronco vehicles built on or before 14-Sep-2021 may experience a loss of power when driving with various illuminated warning indicators displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). This may be due to an improper seating of the wiring harness push pins to the driveshaft loop which can cause an interference condition between the rear driveshaft and the 14405 harness near the C2370/C350 connector. If suspected, inspect the harness and connector for damage and repair as necessary. Once inspected and/or repaired fully, seat the harness push pins to the driveshaft loop.
SSM 501692021-10-29. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:PARKING ASSIST:SENSORS. Some 2021 Bronco vehicles equipped with front parking aid sensors and a Ford Performance and/or aftermarket winch may inhibit the front parking aid sensor warning system and cause it to activate. As a resolution, the front sensors must be turned off by performing the following from the touchscreen; 1. Press Features on the touchscreen. 2. Press Driver Assistance > Park Aid Sensors > Front On, Rear On. 3. Front Sensors (Always) Off > Park Aid Sensors > Front Sensors (Always). Note: trying to adjust the location of the sensor will not resolve this concern. If the front sensors do not stay off after each key cycle monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule a service appointment with the customer once the repair becomes available.
TSB 21-22972021-09-30. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS:SENSOR:SIDE IMPACT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2020-2021 Explorer/Aviator and 2021 Bronco vehicles may exhibit an illuminated airbag warning indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1404:13 and/or B1407:13. This may be due to contamination and relative movement in the connection between the wiring harness and the side airbag. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the affected connector with a service pigtail and the affected side airbag.
SSM 501492021-09-28. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some 2021 Bronco vehicles equipped with front and rear parking aid sensors may set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for all 8 parking aid sensors and/or circuits. This may be due to the software within the parking aid module (PAM). To correct the condition, reprogram the PAM using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 15K866 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. After PAM programing check for DTCs and correct as necessary.
SSM 501482021-09-28. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021 Bronco vehicles may experience multiple warning indicators / messages displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and/or multiple communication fault diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) setting in and/or related to the HS2-CAN modules. This may be due to a loose and/or improperly seated connector C210. If the vehicle exhibits the above conditions, access and inspect connector C210 for proper attachment and/or damage and repair as necessary. To access the connector, remove the right side lower cowl side panel (follow Workshop Manual, (WSM) Section 415-00 > Removal and Installation > A-Pillar Speaker, Steps 9-10) and the glove compartment (follow WSM Section 501-12 > Removal and Installation > Glove Compartment). If this fault persists, refer to WSM Section 418-00A and continue with normal diagnostics.
SSM 500842021-09-28. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021 Bronco 5 door models equipped with a hard top roof configuration may exhibit poor Sirius XM satellite radio reception and or signal loss in rural areas with dense foliage, tall buildings, or other similar obstructions. No additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution to improve this condition that is expected to be available for service in January 2022. In addition, if the vehicle is equipped with the optional factory roof rails and crossbars this may further degrade the reception. Removing the roof rails and crossbars may improve reception performance. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule a service appointment with the customer once the repair becomes available.
SSM 500452021-09-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2018-2021 Ford/Lincoln vehicles equipped with a wireless charging pad may exhibit an inoperative charging pad, slow charging, a notification that the phone has been mispositioned on the charging pad and/or the phone charging icon in the center screen is not showing. This may be due to the customer's phone if they are using an iPhone 12. Vehicles equipped with a wireless charging pad are designed to charge best with phones that follow the Qi standard. The iPhone 12 hardware currently does not follow the Qi standard for wireless charging. This may make it difficult for Ford and Lincoln vehicles to wirelessly charge this specific phone. The phone can still be charged using the USB cable if the vehicle experiences the above symptoms. If the customer is using an iPhone 12, verify the wireless charging pad works with a Qi certified phone prior to any part replacements.
OTA SU1-Bronco2021-09-04. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Software Update 1 (SU1) for 2021 Model Year Bronco vehicles is now available. Involves: Zone Lighting Battery Drain, Remote Start Battery Drain, Contrast improvements to analog rear view camera
TSB 21-22512021-09-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE/IPDM. Some 2021 Bronco vehicles built on or before 09-Jul-2021 may exhibit an intermittent No Key Detected message displayed in the instrument cluster followed by a double horn chirp immediately after starting the vehicle. This may be due to a software parameter in the driver door module (DDM) and/or the passenger door module (PDM). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the DDM and PDM.
SSM 499792021-08-02. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS:SUPPORT DEVICE/STRUT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FRONT UNDERHOOD. Some 2021 Bronco vehicles equipped with Big Bend and Outer Bank trim levels may exhibit a whistle noise originating from the front of the hood area when traveling at speeds above 30 mph (50 Km/h). If the whistle noise can be eliminated by taping off the gap between the hood and grill opening, this condition may be due to the hood seal design. Hood seal replacement will not resolve this condition. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and Ford is currently working to release an improved seal design that will be available in October 2021. Follow up with the customer to schedule an appointment once OASIS confirms part availability.
SSM 499282021-08-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:DOGS/SYNCHROS. Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E, F-150, Edge/Nautilus or Bronco vehicles equipped with SYNC 4 may have a customer symptom of the SYNC voice commands being activated without pushing the steering wheel switch. This may be due to the feature called Wake Word within SYNC 4. This feature allows the driver to activate the SYNC 4 system without pushing the steering wheel switch. Under the touchscreen Settings > Voice Settings the preferred Wake Word can be changed. The feature can also be disabled if the customer does not want the SYNC voice commands being activated without touching the steering wheel switch. This feature is not a defect. Do not submit a claim for this condition.
SSM 499202021-08-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE:ELECTRICAL; EQUIPMENT. Some 2021 Bronco vehicles equipped with front and rear parking aid sensors may set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for all 8 parking aid sensors/circuits if 2 or more rear parking aid sensors/circuits have a concern. This is due to the software within the parking aid module (PAM), and module replacement will not resolve this condition. If the PAM sets DTCs for all 8 parking aid sensors/circuits, diagnose the rear parking aid sensor and circuit DTCs first. Reference Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 413-13A for parking aid diagnostic information. Ford is currently working on a software update that is expected to be available August 2021. The customer can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment for October, when software is expected to be available. Follow up with the customer to confirm the appointment once OASIS confirms software availability.
SSM 499092021-07-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021 Bronco vehicles may exhibit a No Key Detected message displayed in the instrument cluster followed by a double horn chirp immediately after starting the vehicle. The condition is due to a software issue in the driver door module (DDM) and/or the passenger door module (PDM). Replacement or reprogramming of the DDM and/or PDM will not resolve the issue. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected to be available for service in July 2021. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule a service appointment with the customer once the repair becomes available.
