Service bulletins for the 2023 Ford F-150

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 520742023-11-21. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with one-touch up/down front windows may exhibit a window not responding to one-touch controls, does not open all the way and/or bounces back when using the one-touch close function. These may be due to a calibration parameter in the driver door module (DDM) and/or passenger door module (PDM). To correct the condition, reprogram the DDM and PDM using the latest level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool then perform the Power Door Window Initialization procedure for both the DDM and the PDM. TSB 23-23472023-11-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. This article supersedes TSB 23-2279 to update the Service Procedure. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid engine, 2020-2023 Explorer vehicles equipped with a 3.3L hybrid engine and 2020-2023 Aviator vehicles equipped with a 3.0L hybrid engine may exhibit a powertrain malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0A1E stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the belt integrated starter generator (BISG). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to diagnose and repair this symptom.
TSB 23-23452023-11-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT. Some 2021-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 4 may exhibit the navigation feature in the center display screen only displaying imperial (feet and miles) units and not being able to change to metric (meters and kilometers) units. This may be due to the software level of the SYNC module (APIM). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the APIM to the latest software level via a coordinated flash. NOTE: The APIM software update that addresses the symptom listed in this article may have been sent via Ford Power-Up software updates delivered over-the-air (OTA) to connected vehicles that have automatic updates enabled through the center display screen. Enter the vehicle identification number (VIN) in Professional Technician System (PTS) and check the OTA Dashboard under the Connected Vehicle tab for OTA update history. If an update to the APIM has successfully completed recently and the customer is reporting the symptoms are no longer present, this article may not apply.

This article supercedes TSB 22-2388 to update the Service Procedure and vehicle model years affected. Some 2021-2023 F-150 Raptor vehicles may experience a rattle noise from the exhaust at the exhaust tailpipe actuators. This may be due to the exhaust tailpipe actuator valves rattling inside the muffler assembly. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) and install new exhaust tailpipe actuator and/or valve springs on the exhaust tailpipe actuator valves.

This may be due to the exhaust heat exchanger bypass control valve. To correct this condition replace the muffler inlet pipe. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 309-00D Exhaust System - 3.5L V6 PowerBoost (CN), Removal and Installation. For claiming, use causal part 5A212 and applicable labor times in Section 05 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E, 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning/e-Transit vehicles may exhibit a concern where the vehicle is unable to achieve 100 percent state of charge immediately after high voltage (HV) battery module balancing and replacement. This may be due to the battery energy control module (BECM) adjusting the cell balance (conditioning) of the battery module and should be corrected within 22 days. If the vehicle otherwise functions as designed with no related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) setting, this concern will be corrected automatically with no further actions required by the technician.

If the GWM is tested between OTAs, this code will be present. This DTC does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle. The software update that addresses the symptom will be sent via Ford Power-Up software updates delivered over-the-air (OTA) to connected vehicles that have automatic updates enabled through the center display screen.
SSM 520012023-11-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2023 F-150 non-hybrid/non-Lightning vehicles built on or after 01-Mar-2023 may exhibit an illuminated battery malfunction indicator and/or illuminated ABS malfunction indicator, and/or Check Brake System message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3003:16 stored in the ABS module. Replacement or reprogramming of the audio digital signal processing (DSP) module is not recommended for this condition at this time. This does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in December 2023. Monitor OASIS for additional information.
SSM 519722023-11-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with an IPC with a 4.2 inch display and built with minor feature code HKRAB may experience a resetting of the trip odometer and MPG information after a key cycle. To confirm a vehicle is built with minor feature code HKRAB, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). This condition may be due to the software level of the IPC. To correct this condition, reprogram the IPC to the latest software level using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). Perform a brief road test after the software update to confirm the concern is no longer present. If the concern is still present, replace the IPC. SSM 519392023-10-06. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2017-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmission may exhibit a whine noise at idle and/or while driving. This may be identified as coming from the bellhousing and the front of the transmission fluid pan. The whine noise may become louder when the transmission is at operating temperature and may increase with engine revolutions per minute (RPM) in the park (P) position. A small amount of whine noise is considered to be characteristic of the 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmissions due to the offset gear drivetrain in the front support and has no effect on durability. Use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of OASIS to submit a report if there is a customer concern of whine noise describing operating conditions and noise severity.
SSM 519372023-10-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles equipped with power folding mirrors may exhibit power folding mirrors that are inoperative or exhibit a clicking sound. This may be due to the mirrors being manually folded in, during transportation, going through a car wash, bumped in a parking lot, or found during pre-delivery inspection (PDI). Prior to the replacement of any components, attempt to synchronize the mirrors by following the Power Mirrors Synchronization procedure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 501-09 Rear View Mirrors - General Procedures - Power Mirrors Synchronization.
