Service bulletins for the 2020 Mazda CX-5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| MT-003-20 | 2020-09-01. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may complain about an inoperative power liftgate (PLG) and the any of the following DTC's stored in memory: • U3003:16 (Power liftgate (PLG) control module power supply voltage low input) • U3003:17 (Power liftgate (PLG) control module power supply voltage high input). This may be caused by low or high vehicle battery voltage. |
| SSPC2b | 2020-09-01. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION. 2020 CX-5 AND 2020 CX-9 POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL UNIT CONCERN: On certain subject vehicles, the PLG Control Unit may not switch to the power saving mode even after pressing the push button start and setting the ignition to the off position, due to improper control logic of the PLG Control Unit. In this condition, if the vehicle is left unused for a certain amount of time, the battery may discharge and run out. |
| SSPC2a | 2020-09-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE. | MT-001-20 | 2020-08-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal Workshop Manual diagnosis. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Ask the customer if any aftermarket devices have been installed. Below are a couple of examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by aftermarket devices. |
| 09-006-20-3673a | 2020-08-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. When encountering a vehicle with paint damage, refer to the "Mazda Paint Warranty Guide" to determine cause, prevention, remedy, and warranty coverage (if applicable). |
| 06-003-20-3718 | 2020-08-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STEERING. Some customers may complain of a steering wheel vibration (in a rotational direction), when they are not holding onto the steering wheel. The vibration stops when holding onto the steering wheel or when driving. This may be caused by improper control logic of the EPS control module. | SA-053-20 | 2020-07-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. When replacing manual or automatic transmission, make sure to remove the plug from the old transmission (as shown below) and then re-install it to the new transmission with a new washer. The new transmissions (including remanufactured A/T) have a shipping plug, as shown in the figures (M/T: black, rubber made; A/T: pink and black, with breather). This plug is for shipping use only and needs to be removed in order to re-install the original plug from the old transmission. |
| SA-026-20a | 2020-07-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Use the symptom troubleshooting tables below to diagnose MAZDA CONNECT concerns. |
| 08-001-20-3696a | 2020-07-02. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience the airbag warning light ON with DTC B00A0:09 stored in the SAS control module memory when the battery voltage is low. • DTC B00A0:09 (Occupant classification sensor internal signal output unstable). This concern is caused by the low voltage detection time of the occupant classification sensor (OCS) being too short during cranking, which causes detection of the DTC unnecessarily. The concern occurs more often in colder weather when greater electric current is consumed to start the vehicle. To eliminate this concern, the OCS has been modified to avoid unnecessary DTC detection. NOTE: • Even if the voltage is recovered after the engine is started, the airbag warning light stays ON during the drive cycle. • When the battery voltage becomes stable after the engine is started, the airbag system will operate normally. |
