| 04-003-24 | 2024-08-02. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Front Brake Noise Symptom 1: Some vehicles may exhibit a click noise when first moving forward or reverse from a stop OR when first applying the brakes while moving forward at slow speeds. This is caused by deteriorated grease between the brake pads and the shim, the front brake pads move upward/downward along with the brake rotors during brake application. When the vehicle moves or the brakes are applied the next time, the front brake pads move to the other side, which causes a click noise. Front Brake Noise Symptom 2: Some vehicles may exhibit the brakes having an unusual noise or vibration when applying the brake. This is caused by rust on the brake disk plate’s surface. Rear Brake Noise Symptom 1: Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the rear brakes while braking lightly and occurs more frequently when driving at slow speeds. The noise is caused by poor contact between the guide plate and the mounting support. To eliminate this concern, the material of the pads has been changed to copper-free and the specification of the shims has been changed to a coated spring with tape. Rear Brake Noise Symptom 2: Some vehicles equipped with an electric parking brake (EPB) may exhibit a grinding noise from the rear brakes when braking. This may be caused by the rear brake pads not having the capability to remove the rust from the rear brake discs. The red rust accumulated on the discs is exposed to high temperatures during braking, and consequently the rust turns black. As the black rust is too hard to be removed by the brake pads, the rust progress is accelerated, resulting in the grinding noise. |

Some vehicles may exhibit a click or squeak noise from the front brakes under the following conditions: 2016-2022 CX-9 2018-2022 CX-5 (Click noise): 1. When first moving forward or reverse from a stop OR 2. When first applying the brakes while moving forward at slow speeds. Cause: Due to deteriorated grease between the brake pads and the shim, the front brake pads move upward/downward along with the brake rotors during brake application. | 15-003-20-3737 | 2020-10-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; VISIBILITY; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. Some vehicles may exhibit that the SBS/SCBS warning light (amber) turns ON right after the engine is started with DTC U0420:68 [FSC] stored in memory. • DTC U0420:68 [Forward sensing camera (FSC)]: Error signal received from electric power steering (EPS) control module. For Mazda6 and CX-5, the following error messages may appear in the instrument cluster. • Front camera sensor system malfunction • Forward Smart City Brake Support Malfunction • Driver attention alert system malfunction. This may be caused by the battery voltage falling and the EPS control module failing the initial learning for the steering center position while cranking. The FSC detects the error notified by the EPS control module. To correct this concern, the control software of the EPS control module has been modified while the repair procedure modifies the FSC for earlier repairs in the market. |
