Service bulletins for the 2013 Ford Focus

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

170 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

To clear this DTC, use the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software, select - Toolbox - Body - Security - PATS Functions - Parameter Reset. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure. This procedure will transfer the existing Key ID information between the modules without the need of having 2 programmed PATS keys present. There is no need to program keys when the PCM is going to be replaced. Additional information can be found in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-01. Missing or lost keys are not warrantable.

The Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual has been revised for diagnosing electronic throttle bodies (ETBs). The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.
TSB 16-01292017-08-01. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. These symptoms are usually accompanied by an illuminated Check Engine lamp. Additional symptoms may include messages in the message center indicating hill start assist is not available, that parking aid malfunction/service is required or the transmission PRNDL/S gear selector on the instrument cluster may flash. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) U0100, U0101, U1013 and/or P0606 will be present or stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) memory. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

The suspect service part number is GV6Z-14A068-G. The wrong part will have an engineering number of GV6T-14A073-GD and it will not work. The correct part will have engineering part number of GV6T-14A073-with a suffix of XA, XB, XC, or XF. Dealers should utilize the normal return process of a miss packaged part. Continue to monitor OASIS. When this concern is resolved, an update will be provided.

SSM 462072017-03-20. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR. SOME 2013-2017 FOCUS 4-DOOR SEDANS HAVE A SINGLE DAMPENER ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE, ADJACENT TO THE LIFTING COIL SPRING, TO SLOW THE OPERATION OF THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DECK LID WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING. THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DECK LID IS HELD OPEN ONLY BY THE COIL SPRINGS CONNECTED TO THE HINGES. THE DAMPENER IS NOT CHARGED WITH GAS TO SUPPORT THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID LIKE THE 5 DOOR HATCHBACK LIFT CYLINDERS. REFER TO THE UPDATED WORKSHOP MANUAL SECTION 501-03 FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. THIS IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE HEADLINER AND NO REPAIRS SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED. ON 5 DOOR FOCUS(HATCHBACK) THE EXPOSED EDGE AT THE REAR LIFT GATE AREA MAY BE DUE THE HEM LIP OUT OF POSITION (BENT) PULLING THE WEATHER STRIP OUT OF POSITION, EXPOSING THE EDGE. THE HEM LIP CAN EASILY BE REPOSITIONED AND WILL KEEP THE HEADLINER EDGE COVERED BY THE WEATHER-STRIP, WITHOUT HEADLINER REPLACEMENT.
14M02-S32017-03-20. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. CERTAIN 2011 THROUGH 2015 MODEL YEAR FIESTA AND 2012 THROUGH 2016 MODEL YEAR FOCUS VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A DPS6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE
