Service bulletins for the 2023 Ford F-150
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SSM 52218 | 2024-02-06. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2021-2023 F-150 non-Lightning vehicles may exhibit reduced power and/or lack of acceleration above 4000 revolutions per minute (RPM) and/or not being able to shift above 4000 RPM. This may be due to the missing retainers (service part number W714040-S300) from the air cleaner intake. Prior to performing other diagnostics, inspect the air cleaner intake to determine if the retainers are present and fully seated. If the retainers are not present, install as necessary. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 3.5L EcoBoost (BM), Removal and Installation, Air Cleaner, Removal, Step 4. If the retainers are present, or the missing retainers were replaced and the symptom is still present, refer to the WSM for additional diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 9C675 and applicable labor operations in Section 06 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |

This condition is most noticeable at idle and may lessen at higher engine speed or while driving. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and will not get worse over time. Use a stethoscope or chassis ears and listen just behind the left cylinder head intake VCT solenoid on the cam cover to determine if the thump/knock noise is coming from the cylinder head/camshaft. The left cylinder head and the camshaft roller followers are available as service parts. |
| SSM 51542 | 2023-05-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN. Some 2020-2023 F-150 and 2021-2023 Bronco vehicles equipped with a 2.7L or 3.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a ticking/tapping or rattle type noise from the top front cover area of the engine on initial start-up after a cold soak of 6 hours or more that may last for 2-5 seconds. This may be due to a stuck internal component of the variable cam timing (VCT) unit. To correct the condition, replace all 4 of the VCT units following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01. For claiming, use causal part 6C525 and applicable labor operations in Section 6 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If labor times are not available, claim M-time. |
