Service bulletins for the 2025 Ford Explorer

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 545182026-01-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2024-2026 Nautilus, 2025-2026 Explorer/Aviator and 2025 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit a concern where during an inbound phone call using CarPlay®, the person in the vehicle cannot be heard. This may be due to the software in the accessory protocol interface module (APIM). Replacement or reprogramming of the APIM will not resolve this condition. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a software solution for this condition and will be released via a software update delivered over-the-air (OTA) expected by April 2026. The software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicle settings. Schedule a service visit for customers who have disabled vehicle connectivity or who report that they did not receive the update by May 2026. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for additional information.
SSM 545162026-01-27. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY. 2020-2026 Police Interceptor Utility vehicles may require level III ballistic panels to be replaced due to broken mounting tabs. Individual level III ballistic panel mounting tab service parts are now available: right-hand (78201B68) and left-hand (78201B69). Replacement of the level III ballistic panel assembly is not required for this condition. Level IV ballistic panels do not have removable mounting tabs and still require complete panel replacement. Level III vs level IV ballistic panels can be identified by a large roman numeral label on the panel or by the vehicle window sticker if equipped.

Some 2020-2026 Police Interceptor Utility hybrid vehicles may exhibit multiple warning messages, various drivability concerns and/or an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P061B stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the incorrect installation of additional police equipment. Equipment should only use the provided rear power access point and must not use the 12V cranking or 12V auxiliary batteries for power. The vehicle will go to sleep after the ignition key is removed and is not designed to power equipment when the vehicle is not running. If equipped, the Police Engine Idle feature can be used to allow the vehicle to securely remain idling and to power equipment. Refer to the Owners Manual.<br /><br /> If it is determined additional equipment has not been added to the 12V cranking or 12V auxiliary batteries, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics, Section 303-04C Engine > Fuel Charging and Controls > Diagnosis and Testing > Pinpoint Test QE.<br /><br /> For general upfitter installation guidelines, refer to:<br />
TSB 25-25802025-12-09. Service bulletin. STEERING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit steering column shrouds that are misaligned or pushed out. This may be due to the wiring harness causing interference with the upper and lower shroud connection. Additional Model specification: Equipped with BlueCruise hands free driving system.
SSM 543992025-12-01. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some 2025 Aviator/Explorer/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C1110:56 and/or U3000:96 stored in the power steering control module (PSCM) after programming the PSCM, or may display the following message in Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) when performing PSCM programmable module installation (PMI): <br /><br /> "It has been detected that a Model Year 2025 Steering Gear (R1MC - level) is fitted to this vehicle. It is not possible to run the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) Programmable Module Installation (PMI) application on this Steering Gear. If later software is available, this PSCM can be updated by running the PSCM Software Update application."<br /><br /> This may be due to the calibration in the PSCM. When installing a replacement steering gear, make sure the part number begins with prefix "S1MZ". If DTC U3000:96 previously set after programming the PSCM, continue with normal diagnostics outside this article. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 211-02 > Diagnosis and Testing. Improvements have been made to the diagnostics for this DTC.

This may also be accompanied by diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) B118C:11 and/or B118C:15 stored in the driver door module (DDM), and/or B118D:11 and/or B118D:15 stored in the passenger door module (PDM). This may be due to the wiring connector from the mirror to the BLIS module. If diagnostics lead to an internal mirror wiring harness fault, a new lower level BLIS light pigtail is now released for service. It is not necessary to replace the exterior mirror assembly. Use part number SC3Z-14A411-B to resolve the concern.

SSM 542542025-10-02. Service bulletin. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2025 Explorer/Aviator vehicles may exhibit a condition where the instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays an unexpected Watch the Road warning while using BlueCruise with no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored related to the driver-assist systems. This may be due to the steering column tilt angle and/or driver seat position (height and backrest angle). Replacing components is not expected to resolve this issue. Optimize driver head position by adjusting the steering column tilt angle and driver seat position (height and backrest angle) to ensure the driver status monitor camera (DSMC) mounted on top of the steering column has a clear view of the drivers entire face from chin to forehead. Provide both Explorer and Aviator customers with a printout of the Lincoln Aviator Owners Manual page titled, Lincoln BlueCruise > How Does BlueCruise Work.
