Canada: Transport Canada, as of 2026-10-19
20217062021-11-17. Tires. Issue: Certain trucks were built with tires that are not approved for use with the truck's wheels. As a result, the tires may not perform properly, or a tire could fail. Safety Risk: A tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development. You will be instructed to bring your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility when a repair is available.
20216972021-11-12. Electrical. Issue: On certain trucks, the pass-through power stud (an electrical connection located on the bulkhead) may come into contact with the bulkhead. If this happens, there could be electrical arcing (sparks). Note: This recall replaces FL-766 (Transport Canada Recall 2018-190). If your truck was inspected as a part of that recall, but the pass-through power stud was not replaced, your truck requires this repair. Safety Risk: Electrical arcing could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility to replace the pass-through power stud.
20195522019-11-04. Structure. Issue: On certain trucks, the strut-rod for the sleeper cab vent windows may not be properly attached. This could cause the vent window to over rotate and detach from the vehicle. Safety Risk: A window that separates from a moving vehicle could create a hazard for other drivers and nearby people. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a Daimler Trucks of North America authorized service facility to replace the vent windows.
20195082019-10-10. Structure. Issue: On certain trucks, the baggage and/or sleeper side doors may not be properly attached to their hinges. This could cause the door(s) to detach while driving. Safety Risk: A baggage and/or sleeper side door that falls from the truck could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a DTNA authorized service facility to install two reinforcement clips on each baggage and sleeper door hinge.
20192372019-05-17. Brakes. Issue: Certain trucks were built with air reservoir tanks that are too small in relation to the size of the air brake chambers. Canadian regulations require enough air reservoir capacity to ensure the brakes work even with heavy use or when there is a partial loss of the air system. Safety Risk: Reduced braking could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facility to modify the truck to ensure it meets Canadian regulations.
20184692018-08-31. Fuel System. On certain trucks built with a Cummins X15 or ISX15 engine equipped with nylon fuel lines and a banjo bolt on the fuel pump, a blockage in the fuel cooling system may cause a fuel line to burst. This could result in a significant fuel leak onto the roadway, which would create a road hazard for other motorists. Additionally, this condition could also cause an engine stall without warning, without the ability to restart the engine. Both of these conditions may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Cummins-authorized dealers will replace the affected nylon line with a steel line.
20182832018-05-29. Brakes. Certain vehicles built with front disc brakes and a Lomax hood may not have enough clearance between the hood and the front brake hose. This could cause chafing of the brake hose, which could lead to an air leak resulting in reduced brake effectiveness and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Authorized dealers will replace the front brake hose. Note: A leaking front brake hose may not be detectable during a routine pre-trip inspection.
20176362017-12-18. Accessories. On certain vehicles equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Note: For more information about recalled fire extinguishers, please visit www.kidde.com.
20175832017-11-28. Brakes. On certain vehicles with air brakes, after several hard brake applications, the brake light pressure switch may not activate the brake lights with a light application of the brake pedal. If the brake lights do not illuminate, following road users would be unaware of the intent of the driver to slow the vehicle, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will repair the brake light pressure switch.
20174072017-08-24. Suspension. On certain vehicles, the front axle weight limit may be greater than the front spring capacities. If the axle load exceeds the maximum weight capacity of the springs, the springs could fatigue and potentially lead to the front axle separating from the vehicle. This would result in a loss of vehicle control, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will replace the front axle springs.
20171302017-03-10. Brakes. On certain vehicles outfitted with triple compartment aluminium air tanks, the end caps of the tanks may have received incomplete welds during manufacturing. If a weld were to separate on the tanks, it would result in a rapid loss of air pressure, which could cause reduced brake performance, or unexpected application of the parking brakes, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the affected tanks with triple compartment steel air tanks.
20164832016-10-04. Seats And Restraints. On certain vehicles equipped with a Stratosphere sleeper cab, a seat belt mount failed during testing due to an incorrect diameter hole on the seat belt anchor plate. If this condition is present, the seat belt may not properly restrain the occupant in the event of a crash, which could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will reinforce the seat belt anchor plate.
20162852016-06-06. Engine. On certain vehicles, the Engine Control Module (ECM) may develop an internal electrical short circuit that could blow a fuse in the ECM's electrical supply circuit. This could cause the engine to stall without warning and prevent the vehicle from being restarted. Engine stalling without warning would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the ECM.
