Bulletins, newest first
122-B8Q7M-062017-09-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS. Concerns: Vehicle identification stickers. Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. An incorrect engine number is shown on the vehicle identification stickers.
122-H2D4H-062017-09-14. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH. Concerns: Protective film for release handle Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There is a possibility that the release handle for the front lid will hit against the front trim panel when actuated on the affected vehicles. This can result in superficial damage, e.g. scratches, and will be regarded by the customer as a visual defect.
122-V2T3A-062017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE. Concerns: Spring struts for front and rear axle Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. Internal quality checks have shown that front-axle and rear-axle spring struts with shock absorbers from a batch in which an O-ring on the shock absorber might be damaged were installed on some vehicles. This can result in a loss of pressure in the gas-filled shock absorber over the service life of the vehicle and can cause rumbling noises when driving on uneven road surfaces.
122-H3R9A-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Concerns: Oil intake pipe Information: In the course of endurance testing under high load, it has been discovered that vibrations can occur at the oil intake pipe, depending on the driving profile. In the event of unfavourable component tolerances, this can cause the oil intake pipe to chafe against the flange of the oil pressure line.
122-B8L7J-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE. Concerns: Connecting links on anti-roll bar on rear axle Information: There is a possibility that the threaded joints securing the connecting links to the anti-roll bar on the rear axle were not tightened to the specified torque on the affected vehicles. This can cause increased play between the connecting link and anti-roll bar over the service life of the vehicle. As a result, noises can occur when driving on uneven road surfaces for example.
122-W8K6T-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:WHEEL BEARING. Concerns: Bearing covers for wheel bearings on rear axle Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. Lightweight wheel bearings were installed on the rear axle of the 918 Spyder due to the performance-oriented design of the chassis. Internal tests have shown, however, that the bearing covers on these lightweight wheel bearings can bend out of shape when the vehicle is driven aggressively, e.g. when driving on a race circuit.
122-F5M5E-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:SUPPLY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS; SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC:CALIPER; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:CALIPER. Concerns: Brake line holder on rear axle Information: A brake line holder that does not meet the required specifications was installed at the rear brake calipers on the affected vehicles.
122-L5R7Q-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE; SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM. Concerns: Lower suspension arms for front axle Information: The front axle of the Porsche 918 Spyderwas fitted with lower suspension arms from a batch whose durability cannot be guaranteed due to amanufacturing error.
122-R7K4V-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS:UNDERBODY SHIELDS. Concerns: Rear underbody cover Information: Make sure the rear underbody cover is installed (see Installation position of rear underbody panelling) before setting the vehicle down on its wheels. If the rear underbody cover is removed: * The rear wheelsmust not be fitted and * The vehicle must not be removed from the lifting platform.
122-P8V4Z-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:RADIATOR ASSEMBLY. Concerns: Relay for radiator fan Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. There is a possibility that the switching contacts of the relay for the radiator fan can stick temporarily on the affected vehicles. This can cause all four radiator fans to come on at times although the fans were not activated by the engine control's thermal management system.
122-A2N2U-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:RADIATOR ASSEMBLY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING. Concerns: Wire harness for rear left radiator fan Information: There is a possibility that the electric wire harness for the left rear radiator fan in the engine compartment is touching a heat guide plate made of carbon fiber on the affected vehicles. If the wire harness is touching, relative movements can cause visible damage to the wire harness or the insulation on individual lines of the wire harness. Progressive damage to the wire harness can cause the radiator fan to stop working and an electric shunt circuit to the low-resistance heat guide plate cannot be ruled out. This electric shunt circuit can cause the vehicle to go on fire even a long time after stopping the vehicle.
122-M4K7W-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM; SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE. Concerns: Front level sensors, left and right Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. It is possible that the sensors for the levelling system on the front axle of the relevant vehicles may be damaged or incorrectly positioned in relation to the control arms. If a sensor is damaged, a fault entry may occur in the PASM control unit over the service life of the vehicle and, as a result, a "Chassis system fault" warning message may appear in the instrument cluster. This fault type may occur after only a short time if a sensor is incorrectly positioned.
122-R9Q9K-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Concerns: Switching element for charge port door Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. Defective switching elements for the charge port doormay have been installed on the affected vehicles due to a supplier error. We have discovered that there is a greater likelihood that the switching elements used here will fail. If this is the case, the switching element can become mechanically blocked. It will then no longer be possible to open the charge port door.
122-N6T6L-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL; SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE. Concerns: Software update of the following control equipment and devices: * High-voltage battery * Air conditioning * Rear axle steering * DME control unit * PDK control unit * Porsche Communication Management (PCM) * Instrument cluster Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. New software is available for the specified control equipment and devices.
122-C7U7E-052017-06-09. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL. INFORMATION: THREE EARLY VEHICLES IN THE NORTH AMERICAN MARKET REQUIRE SPECIAL ATTENTION DURING INSTALLATION OF THE M8 BOLTS SECURING THE TORQUE PLATE AT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. ON THESE THREE VEHICLES ONLY, TWO OF THE EIGHT M8 BOLTS SECURING THE TORQUE PLATE AT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE ARE INTENTIONALLY A FEW MILLIMETERS SHORTER AND MUST ALWAYS BE REINSTALLED IN EXACT LOCATIONS DURING REASSEMBLY (SEE FIGURE 1).
122-U8L3A-092016-10-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT. There is a possibility that the bolt for the internal axial fixing device for the rear drive shafts on the affected vehicles can become corroded over the service life of the vehicle and break as a result. Given that the drive shafts are supported in tripod joints, this has no effect on vehicle handling. Replace axial fixing device for rear drive shafts. The vehicle must be checked for defects and damage (damage to paintwork, missing parts, etc.) each time it is handed over, transferred or delivered. Confirmation that the vehicle is in good condition or details of any damage to the vehicle must be documented and archived for feedback purposes.
122-U5R2H-092016-10-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS. "THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT MOISTURE CAN GET INTO THE LID OF THE REAR FUSE BOX ON THE AFFECTED VEHICLES UNDER CERTAIN ENVIRONMENTAL INFLUENCES. THIS CAN CAUSE MALFUNCTIONS IN THE PDK TRANSMISSION OVER THE SERVICE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THE ERROR MESSAGE ""GEARBOX FAULT"" WILL THEN BE DISPLAYED IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL SWITCH TO THE REDUCED DRIVING PROGRAMME (LIMP-HOME MODE)."
122-X9D7D-082016-10-03. Service bulletin. SEAT BELTS; EQUIPMENT. "IN THE PARTS CATALOGUE FOR THE 918 SPYDER, THE LOCATIONS FOR USING THE SCREWS FOR SECURING THE SEAT BELT MOUNT AND BELT REEL WERE DISPLAYED INCORRECTLY. ONCE REMOVED, THE SCREWS USED TO SECURE THE SEAT BELT MOUNT AND BELT REEL MUST NOT BE RE-USED. NEW FASTENING SCREWS WILL THEREFORE BE ORDERED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PARTS CATALOGUE. WE CANNOT RULE OUT THE POSSIBILITY THAT DUE TO THE MIX UP IN THE ALLOCATION IN THE PARTS CATALOGUE, THE WRONG FASTENING SCREWS MAY HAVE BEEN USED FOR THESE LOCATIONS IN THE PORSCHE CENTRE WHEN CARRYING OUT ASSEMBLY WORK, SUCH AS REMOVING AND INSTALLING SEATS.IN THIS CASE, THE RESTRAINT FUNCTION OF THE SEAT BELT SYSTEM MAY BE IMPAIRED IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT.
