Service bulletins for the 2015 Porsche 918

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

122-A7C8T-102018-10-15. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM. Informatin: Internal tests have shown that the longitudinal and transverse control arms installed on the affected vehicles may be prone to corrosion. The durability of these components cannot therefore be unequivocally guaranteed.
122-A8U3D-052018-05-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; SUSPENSION:REAR; EQUIPMENT. Condition Loose or Damaged M8 Threaded Inserts Technical Background The protective panel below the engine is actually an integral part of the rear CFRP monocoque. The rear suspension must never be ladened without this panel properly installed and at least the eight M8 fasteners installed and tightened to specification (see Figure 1).
122-E4S9A-042017-10-15. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION; POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY. During hard cornering maneuvers, a rhythmic clicking noise may be emitted from the rear axle hubs. This noise is a non-hazardous, non-destructive characteristic of the vehicle. The root cause is the relative movement of the wheel and brake rotor against the 5 drive pins of wheel hub. This tiny amount of movement produces vibrations that are propagated through the rigid suspension joints and carbon fiber reinforced structure of the vehicle. Improper wheel nut tightening or trace amounts of lubricants, debris and corrosion between the hub, brake rotor and wheel all can facilitate this movement. Procedure: If the clicking sound becomes unacceptable to the customer, repair actions may be attempted that may provide at least a temporary solution. These should be implemented in two successive scopes depending on severity and reoccurrence.
122-V2T3A-062017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE. Concerns: Spring struts for front and rear axle Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. Internal quality checks have shown that front-axle and rear-axle spring struts with shock absorbers from a batch in which an O-ring on the shock absorber might be damaged were installed on some vehicles. This can result in a loss of pressure in the gas-filled shock absorber over the service life of the vehicle and can cause rumbling noises when driving on uneven road surfaces.
122-B8L7J-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE. Concerns: Connecting links on anti-roll bar on rear axle Information: There is a possibility that the threaded joints securing the connecting links to the anti-roll bar on the rear axle were not tightened to the specified torque on the affected vehicles. This can cause increased play between the connecting link and anti-roll bar over the service life of the vehicle. As a result, noises can occur when driving on uneven road surfaces for example.
122-W8K6T-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:WHEEL BEARING. Concerns: Bearing covers for wheel bearings on rear axle Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. Lightweight wheel bearings were installed on the rear axle of the 918 Spyder due to the performance-oriented design of the chassis. Internal tests have shown, however, that the bearing covers on these lightweight wheel bearings can bend out of shape when the vehicle is driven aggressively, e.g. when driving on a race circuit.
122-L5R7Q-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE; SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM. Concerns: Lower suspension arms for front axle Information: The front axle of the Porsche 918 Spyderwas fitted with lower suspension arms from a batch whose durability cannot be guaranteed due to amanufacturing error.
122-M4K7W-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM; SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE. Concerns: Front level sensors, left and right Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. It is possible that the sensors for the levelling system on the front axle of the relevant vehicles may be damaged or incorrectly positioned in relation to the control arms. If a sensor is damaged, a fault entry may occur in the PASM control unit over the service life of the vehicle and, as a result, a "Chassis system fault" warning message may appear in the instrument cluster. This fault type may occur after only a short time if a sensor is incorrectly positioned.
122-N6T6L-052017-09-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL; SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE. Concerns: Software update of the following control equipment and devices: * High-voltage battery * Air conditioning * Rear axle steering * DME control unit * PDK control unit * Porsche Communication Management (PCM) * Instrument cluster Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. New software is available for the specified control equipment and devices.
