Service bulletins for the 2019 Mazda CX-5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

02-004-222022-06-04. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Some customers may complain of signs of oil on the struts or shock absorbers. In most cases the oil that is present is normal, and a result of the oil that remains on the shaft during the normal sweeping process of the shaft seal. Follow the inspection guidelines below to determine if the condition is a result of the normal sweeping process or a failure of the shaft seal.
01-004-222022-06-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may experience the CHECK ENGINE light ON at idle with DTC P22FB:00 [DCU] and P1640:00 [PCM] stored in memory. *P22FB:00 [DCU]: NOx sensor No.1: On-board diagnostics canceled *P1640:00 [PCM]: Powertrain DTCs available in dosing control unit This is caused by a false malfunction detection occurring under certain conditions. To eliminate this concern, the detection condition of DTC P22FB:00 has been changed.
SA-001-22c2022-06-04. Service bulletin. COMMUNICATION:MANUFACTURER TELEMATICS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Use the symptom troubleshooting tables to diagnose MAZDA CONNECT concerns.
09-015-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES. Some vehicles may exhibit corrosion on the liftgate lock striker. This may be caused by water penetrating from micro cracks existing on the lock striker's coating surface that reacts with zinc contained in the undercoating and produces the corrosion. To eliminate this concern, a modified undercoating has been established for the liftgate lock striker.
08-003-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS. Some customers may experience the airbag warning light ON with DTC B00A0:09 stored in the SAS control module memory when the battery voltage is low. *DTC B00A0:09 (Occupant classification sensor internal signal output unstable) This concern is caused by the low voltage detection time of the occupant classification sensor (OCS) being too short during cranking, which causes detection of the DTC unnecessarily. The concern occurs more often in colder weather when greater electric current is consumed to start the vehicle. To eliminate this concern, the OCS has been modified to avoid unnecessary DTC detection. NOTE: *Even if the voltage is recovered after the engine is started, the airbag warning light stays ON during the drive cycle. *When the battery voltage becomes stable after the engine is started, the airbag system will operate normally.
04-002-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the rear brakes while braking lightly. The squeak noise may occur more frequently when driving at slow speeds. The noise is caused by poor contact between the guide plate and the mounting support.
02-003-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some customers may complain that the steering wheel is off center more than 3° even when driving straight on a flat road.

SA-006-22a2022-04-06. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL; POWER TRAIN; WHEELS. There have been warranty claims submitted for growling or bearing whine noise in differentials, transfer units and transmissions where the source of the noise was a wheel bearing. This misdiagnosis can lead to multiple repair attempts, warranty debits, and additional inconvenience and/or cost to the customer. To reduce the chance of this occurring, please follow the steps outlined in the repair procedure.

MT-003/222022-04-06. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Some customers may complain about a tapping or knocking noise coming from the rear seat after fuel fill. The concern will likely occur if the fuel tank is overfilled (more fuel is added after the fuel pump nozzle shuts off automatically) or filled up normally in high ambient temperatures and the fuel expands. No repair is needed. Explain to the customer not to continue filling after nozzle shut off. Refer customer to Owner's Manual Warning:
04-001/222022-04-05. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles may exhibit a click or squeak noise from the front brakes under the following conditions: 2016-2022 CX-9 2018-2022 CX-5 (Click noise): 1. When first moving forward or reverse from a stop OR 2. When first applying the brakes while moving forward at slow speeds. Cause: Due to deteriorated grease between the brake pads and the shim, the front brake pads move upward/downward along with the brake rotors during brake application. When the vehicle moves or the brakes are applied the next time, the front brake pads move to the other side, which causes a click noise. Mass-Production Change: None 2016-2018 CX-9 (Squeak noise): During light braking. Cause: Occurs when the front brake pads have been worn to certain levels. As the pads wear, the chamfer goes away and the grease between the pad and the shim deteriorates. Mass-Production Change: As of Apr. 27, 2018, the chamfer shape of the brake pad was improved to increase durability.
02-002/222022-04-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; SUSPENSION; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some customers may complain about oil seepage or oil leakage from the rear shock absorbers. This concern may be due to a lack of sealing performance. To eliminate the oil seepage/leakage, the rear shock absorbers production process has been modified.

Use the following test procedures in this Service Bulletin to test Mazda vehicle batteries and to generate a Warranty Code.
01-002/222022-04-05. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Some vehicles may exhibit a fuel odor at the left / rear area of the vehicle while the engine is idling that usually occurs when the fuel tank is warmed up in hot weather and/or after long distance driving. Depending on wind direction and/or parking environment, the odor may be more noticeable. The odor may be caused by evaporative gas from the gas outlet vent.
5421K2022-03-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING. There is a SCR/ AWD harness that has a unique routing, over the SCR tank cover. Over time, contamination (i.e. sand, dirt) on the SCR/AWD harness may cause wear on the harness wiring and insulation due to vibration of the SCR tank cover. In the worst-case scenario, the electrical circuits in the wiring harness can be disconnected with the MIL/SCR/4WD warning lights illuminating. Inspect the SCR/AWD harness for signs of damage. If the CORE WIRES inside the harness have no damage, protective shrink tubing will be installed on the harness. If CORE WIRE damage is found in the harness, the harness will be repaired with supporting parts.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
