Service bulletins for the 2019 Mazda CX-5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

04-007-20-37132020-11-03. Service bulletin. PARKING BRAKE:ELECTRICAL; SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC:PADS; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Some vehicles equipped with electric parking brake (EPB) may exhibit a grinding noise from the rear brakes when braking. This may be caused by the rear brake pads not having the capability to remove the rust from the rear brake discs. The red rust accumulated on the discs is exposed to high temperatures during braking, and consequently the rust turns black. As the black rust is too hard to be removed by the brake pads, the rust progress is accelerated, resulting in the grinding noise. To eliminate this concern, the brake pad material has been changed in order to improve the rust-removing capability.
SA-061-20a2020-10-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. If you receive a customer concern about the CHECK IN light coming on and DTC P3400 (cylinder deactivation system malfunction) stored, the cylinder deactivation oil control valve may be plugged with plastic debris from the oil filter wrapper. The debris may enter the center of the oil filter when poking a hole in the filter wrapper during removal, and then travel through the engine and plug the cylinder deactivation oil control valve.
15-003-20-37372020-10-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; VISIBILITY; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. Some vehicles may exhibit that the SBS/SCBS warning light (amber) turns ON right after the engine is started with DTC U0420:68 [FSC] stored in memory. • DTC U0420:68 [Forward sensing camera (FSC)]: Error signal received from electric power steering (EPS) control module. For Mazda6 and CX-5, the following error messages may appear in the instrument cluster. • Front camera sensor system malfunction • Forward Smart City Brake Support Malfunction • Driver attention alert system malfunction. This may be caused by the battery voltage falling and the EPS control module failing the initial learning for the steering center position while cranking. The FSC detects the error notified by the EPS control module. To correct this concern, the control software of the EPS control module has been modified while the repair procedure modifies the FSC for earlier repairs in the market.
09-030-20-37402020-10-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. All Mazda Connect vehicles in new car inventory must be updated to the software version listed below in this TSB as part of the New Car Ready Step 3 process. Make sure the new vehicle specialist receives a copy of this bulletin. Some vehicles may experience the symptoms mentioned below, which can be fixed with the latest software update (Version 70.00.367 or later). NOTE: For 2016 CX-9 with version earlier than 59.00.441, the tachometer function will be removed from the Active Driving Display as part of Mazda’s continuing efforts to improve safety and reduce driver distraction. Please explain this to the customer before updating the software. If the customer agrees, turn off the tachometer display on the AD-Display tab in MAZDA CONNECT Settings before performing the update.
09-029-20-37322020-10-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR; EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles may exhibit poor fitting rear door weatherstrips at the lower/front location. The weatherstrips may be deformed by frequent contact with passengers entering and exiting the vehicle, causing the weatherstrip joint to become enlarged. The enlarged weatherstrip joint does not grip the door panel tight enough when it is refitted.
09-028-20-37332020-10-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles may have a loose rear bumper reflector without any visible external damage to the rear bumper cover. Due to an external force applied to the bumper cover, one of the brackets fastening the reflector to the bumper cover may have become detached.
06-003-20-3718b2020-10-02. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some customers may complain of a steering wheel vibration (in a rotational direction), when they are not holding onto the steering wheel. The vibration stops when holding onto the steering wheel or when driving. This may be caused by improper control logic of the EPS control module. To eliminate this concern, the EPS control logic has been modified.
05-002-20-3704a2020-10-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; POWER TRAIN. Some customers may complain about a surging at low speeds and during acceleration. This surging is in the longitudinal direction, felt about 2 cycles per second, and occurs in the locked up 1st gear. This may be caused by the torque fluctuation and the torsional resonance in the torque converter. To correct this concern, the PCM software has been modified to reduce the torque fluctuation.
02-007-20-37292020-10-02. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Some customers may complain about oil seepage or oil leakage from the rear shock absorbers. Some vehicles may experience the check engine light on with DTCs P2096:00, P2097:00 and/or P0524:00 that cannot be cleared by itself, and the check engine light stays on even if the detection condition has gone.• P2096:00 - Air fuel too lean • P2097:00 - Air fuel too rich • P0524:00 - Engine oil pressure too low. This concern may be caused by improper PCM control logic. The PCM software has been modified to eliminate this concern.
