Service bulletins for the 2018 Mazda CX-5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SA-039-23a2023-10-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS. Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection.
SA-012-232023-04-04. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM; VISIBILITY. Some customers may report an odor or water in the HVAC system and upon inspection, the cabin air filter may be found to be wet.
SA-010-232023-03-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; VISIBILITY; EXTERIOR LIGHTING; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience one or more electrical malfunctions after a vehicle body repair. The newly painted fender stay (2) may be causing a poor front harness (1) ground connection.
SA-074-222022-12-02. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may complain the HVAC system not maintaining the correct temperature or the ambient (outside) temperature reading incorrectly. This is caused by a failure in the ambient temperature sensor. To correct this issue, the ambient temperature sensor has been modified.
07-004-21-38302021-10-31. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM:AIR HANDLER/CHAMBER, DUCTS, AND VALVES. Some vehicles may exhibit insufficient A/C performance / insufficient airflow from vents or ducts. These concerns may be caused by an evaporator temperature sensor malfunction due to insufficient water-proofing. This may result in a detection error and therefore, improper operation of the A/C system. To eliminate this concern, the production process of the evaporator temperature sensor has been modified to ensure proper water-proofing.
15-003-21-38282021-10-02. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY; LANE DEPARTURE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:BLINDSPOT:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some vehicles equipped with Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) may experience a BSM indicator light on the outer door mirror, even if there is no vehicle in the alert (blind spot) area. NOTE: This concern occurs only after a cold start. As the BSM control module temperature rises, the BSM system returns to normal operation. Due to BSM control module production variances, a false detection may occur in some units when the BSM temperature in the control module has not yet reached normal operating temperature. To eliminate this concern, the control logic of the BSM control module has been modified.
SA-040-212021-07-01. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS. Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection.
MT-003-212021-06-29. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS. Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage when parked near a glass building. This may be caused by the suns reflection. If a building creates enough of a curve with a series of flat windows, which act like mirrors, the reflections all converge at one point, focusing and concentrating the light onto the street below.
15-003-20-37372020-10-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; VISIBILITY; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. Some vehicles may exhibit that the SBS/SCBS warning light (amber) turns ON right after the engine is started with DTC U0420:68 [FSC] stored in memory. • DTC U0420:68 [Forward sensing camera (FSC)]: Error signal received from electric power steering (EPS) control module. For Mazda6 and CX-5, the following error messages may appear in the instrument cluster. • Front camera sensor system malfunction • Forward Smart City Brake Support Malfunction • Driver attention alert system malfunction. This may be caused by the battery voltage falling and the EPS control module failing the initial learning for the steering center position while cranking. The FSC detects the error notified by the EPS control module. To correct this concern, the control software of the EPS control module has been modified while the repair procedure modifies the FSC for earlier repairs in the market.
SA-062-202020-09-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; PARKING BRAKE; VISIBILITY; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE. Some vehicles may experience an engine no start/no crank with either of the following DTC's stored: P0615:12 - Starter relay circuit malfunction B112A:12 - IG2 relay circuit malfunction. This may be caused by water contamination/corrosion at electrical connector C-04 due to: Windshield tint installation: Windshield tint installed to block UV light. The water used during the installation of the tint may run down behind the dashboard. Carefully inspect the windshield to see if window tint has been installed or not. Some window tint film appears clear and is for UV light only. Windshield repair/replacement: Poor windshield sealing during installation can cause an internal water leak.
