This may be a result of using aftermarket cleaning liquids or tools for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler or intake. Ford does not recommend the cleaning of diesel intakes or EGR coolers using any aftermarket tool that injects a cleaning foam or liquid substance into the EGR cooler or intake. Using these types of fluids can result in sodium poisoning of the NOx and particulate matter (PM) sensors resulting in degraded operation and permanent damage to the aftertreatment system. Use of these cleaning tools may void the emissions warranty of the hot end aftertreatment exhaust system and the attached emissions sensors.
SSM 476382019-01-07. Service bulletin. STEERING; STEERING: STEERING WHEEL/HANDLE BAR. 2013-2019 vehicles equipped with a LKS system with customer complaints of steering wheel vibration, steering pull or vehicle drift may be due to an alert and/or steering aid input from the LKS. The LKS system detects unintentional drifting toward the outside of the lane and alerts and/or aids vehicle to stay in the lane. Be sure the customer understands how the lane departure warning feature settings work for Alert (steering wheel vibration) and Aid (steering input toward lane center). Further information on the LKS can be found in the owners manual. If the customers concern is due to the LKS functioning as intended, do not attempt to repair.

Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty pickups may exhibit an instrument panel cluster (IPC) turn signal indicator that flashes fast with no inoperative turn signal lamps after the pickup box has been removed by the upfitter. This may be due to the body control module (BCM) not recognizing the modified lower current turn signal lighting that was installed. To correct this concern, use Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool version 104.04 or later to configure turn lamp outage settings as required. Under toolbox > module programming > programmable parameters > exterior lighting, select rear bulb turn outage and outage ABM and change the setting on each parameter from outage to no outage. Changes to lamp outage settings on pickups as a result of upfitter modifications are non-warrantable. Upfitters are responsible for FMVSS 108 compliance.
SSM 473462018-07-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine built on or before 6-Dec-2017 may exhibit an exhaust odor in the vehicle cabin. This may be due to a leak at the turbocharger inlet clamps. Performing a pressurized smoke test on the exhaust system will aid in locating the source of a leak. While performing the smoke test, the use of a small mirror can help identify leaks underneath the clamps. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual Pinpoint Test KA, Step KA3. Note that the turbo charger is not a contributing factor in the exhaust leak issue.
SSM 473432018-07-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some 2015-2018 F-150 and 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a lack of cooling from the heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) system due to a low refrigerant charge. Using an ultraviolet (UV) leak detection light, inspect the condenser near the receiver/dryer cap for the presence of dye. If dye is present, replace the condenser. For claiming, use causal part 19712 and applicable labor operations in Section 11 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual
SSM 473402018-07-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE. 2017-2018 F-Super Duty/F-650/F-750/E-Series/Transit chassis cab and stripped chassis vehicles have their front alignment set as part of final assembly. The addition of aftermarket equipment such as utility and box bodies will change the ride height and therefore the alignment angles. Front-end alignments performed before the addition of aftermarket equipment may not be accurate. It is the responsibility of the final-stage manufacturer to check and set alignment angles and set clear vision (steering wheel orientation) after the addition of the aftermarket equipment. Reference page nine of the Body Builders Layout book for more information about this and the addition of aftermarket bodies to incomplete vehicles.
TSB18-21332018-07-23. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE:BODY; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. This may be due to water intrusion into connector C3080 at the WIF sensor. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 470282018-06-11. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some 2011-2018 F-Super Duty 6.7L diesel equipped vehicles may exhibit a ticking noise at idle after an engine oil change. It is often referred to as Typewriter Noise because of its similarity to the sound of a mechanical typewriter. When engine temperatures reach 150 Å?F (65 Å?C) or higher, (from engine idle up to approximately 1700 RPM's), this noise can typically be heard at the front wheel well and is often isolated to the transmission bell housing or oil pan area. Typewriter Noise is not detrimental to engine function or durability and has no short or long term effects on the engine. Do not attempt repairs to eliminate this noise. This noise is characteristic of the 6.7L diesel engine and will typically cease or diminish significantly within the oil change maintenance interval.

Access to this site is granted through Dealer Program Enrollment System (DPES) and Dealer Principal, General Manager or Parts and Service Director can authorize users. Once authorized the retrieval process for master code can be obtained. The master code for the Accessory Keyless Entry Keypad cannot be retrieved from the body control module(BCM) with a diagnostic tool.
SSM 472662018-05-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. Some 2016-2018 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with DTC P20EE stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). When diagnosing this DTC, if pinpoint test (PPT) RD leads to Step RD27, proceed to Step RD28. This is due to PID NOx12 (NUM) incorrectly reading NOx11 (NUM) in the PCM. The NOx12 (NUM) PID will read the same as the NOx11 (NUM) PID. If the NOx Catalyst Conversion Efficiency Value PID reads less than 60% in Step RD28, replace the nitrogen oxides (NOx) sensor 12 and retest before replacing the selective catalyst reduction (SCR) catalyst. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.
SSM 472102018-05-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit incorrect air temperature from the heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) outlets with DTC B1081:07 in the front controls interface module (FCIM). This may be due to binding of the blend door in the HVAC housing or binding between the temperature door actuator and the cam to the temperature door. Replacement of temperature door actuator and cam driver is recommended if the blend door is not binding. Note that removal of the cam driver follower from the blend door shaft can result in damage.
