Service bulletins for the 2022 Ford F-150
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SSM 51103 | 2022-10-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine and built on or before 18-Apr-2022 may experience a loss of engine coolant with possible engine overheat and/or illuminated malfunction indicator (MIL). This may be due to a crack in the exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots on the top of the exhaust heat exchanger. The exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots are now released and should be serviced in pairs. It is no longer necessary to replace the muffler inlet pipe assembly for this type of concern. Workshop Manual, Section 309-00D has been updated to include a new service procedure. For claiming, use causal part 18663 and applicable labor operations in Section 05 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. Heat exchanger coolant spigots - NL3Z-18663-A (2 req). |

| SSM 50976 | 2022-08-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with DTC P2C44:00 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to an issue with ground circuit GD132 or the auxiliary battery isolator. Perform Pinpoint Test I in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-06D and make sure the integrity of GD132 is carefully inspected and tested with the inclusion of G102, C146 and C1989C. Then perform the Auxiliary Battery Conditions(s) Test in WSM, Section 414-01, Pinpoint Test B. If no issues are found in Pinpoint Test I, GD132 and the auxiliary battery condition test passes, replace the auxiliary battery isolator per WSM, Section 414-01. For claiming, use causal part 14526 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 50963 | 2022-08-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. Some 2021-2022 F-150 Raptor vehicles built on or before 06-Jun-2022 may experience a rattle noise from the exhaust near the exhaust tailpipe actuators. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle, and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in September 2022. Replacement of the muffler will not resolve this condition. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. |
| SSM 50835 | 2022-06-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles built on or before 08-Mar-2022 and some 2021-2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 14-Mar-2022 equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may experience a coolant leak at the thermostat housing. This may be due to an incomplete weld on the thermostat housing which can leak during normal vehicle operation. To correct the condition, replace the thermostat housing using service part number ML3Z-8A586-C. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03. For claiming, use causal part 8A586 and applicable labor operations in Section 08 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| TSB 22-2198 | 2022-06-13. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some 2021-2022 F-150 Raptor/Tremor vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may experience reduced engine power with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0299 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the upper radiator air deflector fit and possible interference with the engine air cleaner fresh air inlet. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the affected turbocharger and related components. |
| 22U08 | 2022-06-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Certain 2022 Model Year 3.5L GTDI Equipped Expedition, F-150 and Navigator Vehicles Heavy Grey/Blue Smoke and/or Oil from Exhaust Tailpipe(s). In some of the affected vehicles, it’s possible the left-hand turbo oil drain hole was incompletely drilled during the engine block machining process. A vehicle built with an engine block that has an incomplete turbo oil drain hole may experience heavy gray/blue smoke with oil from the exhaust tailpipe(s), which could lead to a malfunction indicator light on the instrument panel cluster. |
| TSB 22-2089 | 2022-03-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some 2015-2022 F-150, 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2018-2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit poor air conditioning (A/C) performance, loss of airflow and/or engine cooling fans running continuously from high A/C pressures. This concern may be from the evaporator freezing up due to the evaporator temperature sensor being biased. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the evaporator temperature sensor. |
| SSM 50412 | 2022-02-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:COIL. Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit engine misfire concerns with or without DTCs. If diagnostics lead to ignition coil replacement, swap the ignition coil(s) between the misfired cylinder and a known good cylinder. Only replace the ignition coil if the misfire concern follows that particular ignition coil. If the misfire condition does not follow the coil, apply dielectric grease to the boot, reinstall the ignition coil in the original cylinder and continue normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-07C. |
