Service bulletins for the 2021 Ford Escape

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Bulletins, newest first
SSM 544912026-01-21. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY/WIPER. Some 2021-2026 Escape/Corsair vehicles equipped with a roof opening panel may exhibit a sunshield with localized looseness/sagging or binding/inoperative. This may be due to a broken or missing sunshield fabric retainer/clip. A revised sunshield clip (5452118) is available to address this condition. It is not necessary to replace the entire sunshield assembly if the clip(s) are broken or missing. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-17 Roof Opening Panel for inspection and replacement of the roof opening panel shield clip.
SSM 541372025-08-19. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER; VISIBILITY/WIPER. Various 2021-2025 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with the rear camera on demand feature may exhibit "Please Check Surroundings For Safety" or "Full View Not Available" messages when the rear camera button is pressed and the vehicle is not in reverse. Inform customers this condition is considered normal operation and does not affect vehicle durability because the full rear view camera image can only be shown when the vehicle is in reverse. No additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition.
SSM 518742023-09-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM. Some 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2020-2023 Escape vehicles may exhibit a rattle or flapping noise coming from the rear air extractors while driving. This may be due to the normal operation of the rear air extractors. To determine if this is a normal condition, perform a road test at 40 mph (65 km/h) or above. Inspect if the noise is coming from the rear extractors. During the road test alternate air conditioning (A/C) between fresh mode and air re-circulation mode. If the noise is eliminated when the A/C is in fresh mode, this is considered a normal characteristic of the vehicle and no repairs should be performed.
SSM 501052021-09-28. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY. Some 2020-2021 Corsair/Escape vehicles may exhibit issues with the roof opening panel shield feature of the roof opening panel where a replacement shield pilot clip is needed. The shield pilot clips are now available separately for service, Part Number LJ6Z-5452118-A. Reference Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-17. Replacement of the roof opening panel sun shade is not necessary when only replacing the shield pilot clips.
SSM 500152021-09-04. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM; VISIBILITY; EQUIPMENT. Some 2020-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles are equipped with an anti-fogging feature known as enhanced windshield anti fogging strategy (EWAFS). This feature automatically adjusts airflow in the cabin to prevent the windshield from fogging up and may be perceived by customers as irregular climate control functionality. To reduce fogging, the EWAFS functions include: the air condition (A/C) button may turn on and off automatically, recirculated air may turn off automatically in all air modes except MAX A/C, recirculated air may also turn on and off automatically in various airflow modes in order to improve heating or cooling efficiency, and in auto climate control, high humidity conditions may automatically engage A/C compressor, increase blower motor speed and/or direct more air to windshield. Continue to monitor the Workshop Manual (WSM) for EWAFS updates.
