Service bulletins for the 2021 Ford Escape
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| TSB 22-2169 | 2022-05-12. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some Escape 2020-2022 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and 2021-2022 Corsair PHEV may exhibit a 12-volt battery discharged while the vehicle is plugged in during the high voltage battery charging and/or inoperative level 2 charger (220/240 volts) at customers residence but charging performance operates as intended at a dealership or other locations. This may be due to the software in the battery charger control module (BCCM) (also known as secondary on-board diagnostic module (SOBDM)) and/or differences in local electrical power grids for the level 2 charger. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram various modules starting with the powertrain control module (PCM). |

| SSM 50548 | 2022-03-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Some 2022 Maverick and 2020-2022 Escape vehicles equipped with a 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain may exhibit an idle surge and/or rough idle with high temperature in the catalytic convertor and sulfur odor in the cab. This may be due to the software installed in the powertrain control module (PCM). This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently developing a software update that is expected in the last week of March 2022. Once the software update is available, contact the customer and schedule a follow-up appointment for repair. Monitor OASIS for updates. |
| 21B68 | 2022-01-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Certain 2020-2021 Model Year Escape 2.5L HEV PHEV Vehicles Reprogram Powertrain Control Module (PCM) In some of the affected vehicles, it may be possible that the TMAP (Temperature Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor may ice over while driving in cold temperatures for extended periods of time. An iced over TMAP sensor may cause the check engine light to illuminate with diagnostic codes P1A0C, P2282, or P0106 in the PCM (powertrain control module). These codes may lead to the PCM disabling the engine and a Stop Safely Now message appearing in the instrument cluster |
