Service bulletins for the 2016 Cadillac Escalade
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 17336 02 (Bullet | 2018-05-07. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. 17336 02 - Special Coverage (Parts and Service Procedure Revised). On some vehicles, may have a condition where thermal cycling on the combination transmission fluid/oil and AC condenser cooler creates a crack that may allow refrigerant to escape. This condition consequently may deactivate the AC system which may cause potential customer annoyance. Dealers are to inspect the air conditioning condenser and replace if necessary. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer. |
| PIT5481C | 2018-02-21. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; POWER TRAIN; ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL:AUTOMATIC (ASC); FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY; STEERING; LANE DEPARTURE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician with additional information on the functionality of Lane Keep Assist.Starting with2016 model year Lane Keep Assist Regular Production Option Code (UHX) replaced Lane Departure Warning Regular Production Option Code (UFL). Lane Keep Assist is designed to assist the driver in keeping the vehicle from drifting out of a driving lane that has clearly identified markings. The electric power steering provides a gentle steering correction if a lane marking has been crossed and the driver has not actively responded. |
| PIP5168F | 2018-02-21. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT; BACK OVER PREVENTION; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have a no crank concern. Technician will need to check the valve train for movement when the engine is cranked. If the valve train is not moving while the crankshaft is moving the front cover will need to be removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly. If the valve train is rotating during inspection, disconnect the Camshaft Position sensor and check if the engine will start. If the engine starts front cover will need to be removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly. If the engine does not start with the Camshaft Position sensor disconnected the follow published “Engine Cranks But Does Not Run” diagnosis in Service Information. Also perform an Engine Compression Test and Cylinder Leakage Test in Service Information documents all results. If the Service Information procedures above isolate an engine mechanical concern then removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly. |
| PIP5337J | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the step to diagnose and repair the vehicles that may have a shake or shudder during light throttle acceleration, between 30 and 65 miles per hour steady state driving. Also shudder feeling that may be described as driving over rumble strips or rough pavement. Technician will need to run the vehicle in three different operational modes. The three modes are Normal, torque converter clutch open, and torque converter clutch closed. Technician will need to press and hold the tow-haul mode button for five seconds to disable grade braking to prevent downshifts during test. Technician will need to duplicate the concern in Normal mode. If the concern is gone in torque converter clutch open and closed then the torque converter should be replaced. If the concern is not present in normal mode, torque converter clutch open, and torque converter clutch closed the concern is not with the shudder. Technician should use of the PICO scope and Noise, Vibration and Harshness software can be used to confirm torque converter clutch shudder, Engine, Tire or Driveline component related conditions. Flush the cooler lines and cooler using DT-45096 transmission oil cooling system flush and flow test tool when the torque converter is replace. |
| PIT5202D | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE; POWER TRAIN. | PIP5531 | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE; POWER TRAIN. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps need to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have stalling shudder and/or hard shifting into 1st gear or reverse vibration on launch (with excessive crankshaft end play). Technician will test to determine if the crank shaft end play is within specification 0.0015–0.0086 inch. If end play is found to be out of specification, remove engine and inspect for possible crankshaft thrust bearing and/or crankshaft for wear. Inspect thrust bearing for wear on one side and crankshaft on that “mating” surface. If the thrust bearing has three vertical channels worn off replace connecting rod bearings, main bearings, thrust bearing and crankshaft. If working on a Corvette the oil tank with lines and oil cooler are both required to be replaced if equipped |
| PIP5337F | 2017-10-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the step to diagnose and repair the vehicles that may have a shake or shudder during light throttle acceleration, between 30 and 65 mph steady state driving. Also shudder feeling that may be described as driving over rumble strips or rough pavement. Technician will drive the vehicle and monitor the torque converter clutch slip. The torque converter clutch slip speed should be 10 rpm or less also note if the shudder takes place during torque converter clutch apply. If the torque converter clutch slip speed is in the range of 10 RPM or less the condition is possibly related to engine performance. If the shudder is only present in 4 cylinder mode and torque converter clutch slip is 10 rpm or less deem the shudder concern normal characteristic of Active Fuel Management. If the slip speed is beyond 10 rpm or there is shudder during torque converter clutch apply the torque converter will need to be replaced. Also flush the cooler lines and cooler using DT-45096 transmission oil cooling system flush and flow test tool. |
