Service bulletins for the 2014 BMW 228i

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

CAUSE The oil that serves as the separation medium of the Rain/Light Sensor (RLS) gel pad and the windscreen leaks out. Expose the Rain/Light Sensor (RLS) and properly clean the area of all oily residue. Note: The separating oil usually leaks only once from the pad at the RLS. The functional changes to the headlight cleaning system's operation will occur only after programming the vehicle with ISTA/P 2.53.0 or higher. INFORMATION The headlight cleaning system is no longer activated with the first stalk activation when the lights are on.
