Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi Q7

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

A961367 2019260-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-37 dated June 11, 2012. The customer may report that the handheld transmitter cannot be programmed to the garage door opener control module, J530. The customer's door opener system may not be compatible with J530. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. In A4 Model Years 2005 - 2006 and A3 Model Year 2009, the actual location of the garage door opener control module differs from the location shown in the owner's manual (opposite side of front bumper). The customer may misunderstand the programming procedure, particularly if the customer's HomeLink® opener system is using an alternate code. The handheld transmitter's programming function may become inoperative, or the transmitter is too far away from J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. If the vehicle flashes during the programming of a handheld transmitter, this does not necessarily indicate that the programming was successful; it only indicates that the vehicle has recognized and saved a signal.
A961368 2029384-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 13-64 dated June 20, 2013. The customer is able to program one or more of the Homelink buttons using their garage door remote, but after a few days or weeks, one or more of the programmed Homelink buttons no longer functions. The LED on the Homelink button that is no longer functioning now flashes slowly, indicating that no programming is stored. The customer's transmitter operates at 295Mhz. No DTCs are stored in any control units. At the workshop, the Homelink system can be programmed to the workshop garage door successfully. No trouble is found. The garage door opener control module, J530, was designed with an operational frequency range in which the 295Mhz frequency works correctly during the initial programming of the system. Over time, the transmitting frequency can drift out of range (especially in warmer climates), causing the system to lose its programming.
A911392 2030947-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated September 25, 2012. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone gets the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call assuming the phone is not responding.
A551331 2033675-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING: REAR COMPARTMENT/TRUNK. DTC 03073 (Closed Rear Lid Sensor - Incorrect Signal) may be stored in the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 46). In order for the vehicle to receive a proper rear lid status signal when the lid is operated, the paddle switches on the rear sill trim must contact the opposing lid latch points uniformly. When the rear lid is opened, the paddle switches change state and the comfort system central control module 2, J773, will read G525 and G526. It will then communicate to the comfort system central control module, J393.
A461347 2034387-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report sporadically hearing the parking brake being actuated after the vehicle has been switched off. If the customer does not identify the sound as the sound of the parking brake being actuated, he or she may simply complain of hearing noises from the rear brakes. Ignition is switched off. Steering is locked. Park is selected. Parking brake is not engaged. If the electro-mechanical parking brake is not operated for some time, the free play between brake pads and brake discs increases because of normal brake pad wear. The parking brake control unit performs an automatic correction about every 621 miles (1,000 km). On A8 models, the brake pad thickness is also calculated.
A371309 2028715-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-40 dated February 28, 2012. Rough gear changes, both when accelerating and when slowing down. There is a rough driving power disruption that occurs sporadically and lasts for less than a second. After a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted.
A011313 2034359-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. MIL on. DTC P20E9 is stored in the engine control module (ECM). In vehicles produced during a certain period, the AdBlue filter seal within the level sensor module may have been damaged during the assembly process. This damaged seal can allow unfiltered AdBlue to be sucked into the delivery system, subsequently damaging the pressure sensor and reducing agent pump V437.
Dealer Letter -2017-11-17. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER; ENGINE. Due to Illinois state tax incentives for biofuels, biodiesel blends of B5 or less may not be available in the State of Illinois. Because Audi supports the development and use of renewable fuels (such as biodiesel fuel blends), customers with 2009-2013 MY Audi TDI® Clean Diesel Engine vehicles registered in the State of Illinois only will receive a communication on or about February 21, 2013 regarding the use of biodiesel fuel blends in their vehicles. Audi will continue to honor the terms and conditions of Audi Limited Warranties that came with these vehicles. Please refer to Warranty Policies & Procedures Bulletin AWA 13-01 for additional information.
AWA-13-012017-11-17. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. This Warranty Bulletin is applicable to certain 2009MY and forward Audi TDI® Clean Diesel Engine vehicles (with Engine Codes CATA, CBEA, or CNRB) registered in the State of Illinois only.
A941303 2029194-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 12-99 dated November 30, 2012. Only vehicles with Xenon headlights can be affected by this condition. The customer complains the high beams do not function on one side or one of the low beams flickers intermittently. In addition to this, an "Adaptive Headlight Defective" warning can be present in the cluster if the vehicle has the Prestige trim level. One of the following DTCs are set in the 09 - Central Electric Control Unit or in the 55 - Headlamp Range Control Unit depending on the trim level of the vehicle. Vehicles with the Premium Plus option package can have the DTC set in the 09 module. Vehicles with the Prestige option package can have the DTC set in the 55 module. One or more of the connectors inside the headlamp housing are disconnected fully or partially from the factory.
A911374 2024323-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated October 1, 2012. Parking aid sporadically warns of obstacles when none exist. Parking aid is inoperative or provides constant warning. Various parking aid sensor fitting issues. Environmental conditions.
A851313 2032579-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 85 number 13-12 dated January 22, 2013. The air distribution fins in either of the outer instrument panel vents do not adjust. The fins may be broken or loose and cause a rattling sound. The fins may also be missing. This condition arises due to a tolerance issue with the components in the mechanism during production.
A571382 2017082-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 11-55 dated August 22, 2011. Central locking via remote control does not work either sporadically or permanently. The locks can still be operated manually. Missing synchronization between the remote control key and vehicle because the battery has been disconnected or the battery of the remote control has been replaced. If other senders operate in the same frequency range (mobile phones, TV stations, wireless headphones, baby monitors, other vehicle remote controls, etc.), the remote control key may have been temporarily switched off because a clear identification of the remote control key is not possible. This is necessary to prevent an unintentional unlocking of the vehicle by other unrelated senders.
A441336 2022563-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 13-35 dated January 18, 2013. Customer feels vibration from 55 - 80 mph (88 - 128 km/h) in the seat, vehicle floor, footwell, pedals, or steering wheel. This condition does not result in any handling concerns or loss of vehicle control.
A371392 2030370-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-60 dated August 6, 2012. Customer complains that the transmission malfunction warning appears in the cluster. Customer is unable to select gear. GFF scan of the vehicle finds fault P070600 (driving position sensor - implausible signal) logged in the transmission control module (diagnosis address 02). The test plan points to the F125 multi-function switch as the cause. Corrosion on the pins of the multi-function switch and its counterpart can lead to implausible signals.
A171336 2030197-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 12-34 dated December 12, 2012. Customer complains of excessive oil consumption. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner's Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, the ambient temperature, and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Under certain driving conditions, internal engine pressure conditions in the 3.0 TFSI engine can negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This can occur while the vehicle is operated in city driving conditions, for example: stop and go traffic with extended idle periods.
A941316 2033675-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS. The customer may report that the tail lamp lighting does not switch between the rear lid and the bumper when the lid is operated. DTC 03703 (Rear lid -closed- sensor) may be stored in the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 46).
A941315 2027755-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 11-59 dated December 7, 2011. Bugs are trapped inside the rear taillight housing. Bugs can be seen inside the housing, and there are no external markings indicating the taillight has been hit or has been previously damaged due to outside influence. Bugs are able to enter the taillight housing because the seal around the housing is not tight enough.
A661328 2029586-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY; VISIBILITY:REARVIEW MIRRORS/DEVICES:EXTERIOR. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 66 number 12-23 dated August 3, 2012. The customer may report hearing wind noise while driving at highway speeds. The noise may occur on either side of the vehicle. Wind noise may be coming from either the mirror base or the lane change assist lamp. Improved parts are available.
A481343 2015819-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 11-15 dated January 10, 2011. The customer may report that the Easy Entry function of the power adjustable steering column intermittently does not work.

A431315 2033587-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Self-leveling suspension cannot be adjusted during extremely cold weather. The self-leveling suspension warning light is illuminated in the instrument cluster. The self-leveling suspension operates normally again after the vehicle has been parked for a while in a garage or in the sun. DTC 20645 003 (valves for self-leveling control, mechanical fault) is present in the level control system module, J197 (address word 34). If the dryer on the air supply unit (air compressor) has taken in humidity for a long period of time, it may become saturated. As a result, the increased air humidity may get into the solenoid valve block and create condensation. In freezing temperatures, the condensation can freeze and block the valves, a condition that is recognized as a mechanical fault by the vehicle's self-diagnosis. Humidity can also enter the system if there is too much water in the air filter housing. Excess water can enter the air filter housing if the vehicle is driven in deep water or exposed to splashing water for an extended period of time (such as during off-road use).
A431314 2018765-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:REAR:SPRINGS:AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM; SUSPENSION:FRONT:SPRINGS:AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 43 number 12-11 dated October 29, 2012. The self-leveling system can no longer be adjusted with the MMI. The compressor for the self-leveling system continues to run after the engine has been switched off and the vehicle has been locked. DTCs may be stored in the level control system module, J197 (address word 34). Because of poor performance or failure of the air suspension compressor, the vehicle ride height cannot be adjusted. As a safeguard, the control module will lower the vehicle to the lowest position and illuminate the warning light. Drivability is not affected.
A001348 2002047-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 11-19 dated April 8, 2011. This TSB contains information on technician preparation when calling the Audi Technical Assistance Center
A011380 2024344-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 11-19 dated February 3, 2011. MIL on. Vehicle has reduced performance (in "limp mode"). Various entries may be logged. After recognizing that the boost pressure is too low or too high, the engine control module switches to emergency operation and the engine performance is reduced via the injected fuel quantity ("limp mode").

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
