Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi Q7

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

A011383 2033001-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM. MIL on. DTC P0491 and P0492 (Secondary Air System Insufficient Flow, Bank 1/2) are stored at the same time. Mileage is greater than 15,000 miles. Under certain driving conditions, the secondary air ports in the cylinder head can accumulate carbon over time, causing a restriction.
A171337 2030197-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 13-36 dated February 14, 2013. Customer complains of excessive oil consumption. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner's Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, the ambient temperature, and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Under certain driving conditions, internal engine pressure conditions in the 3.0 TFSI engine can negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This can occur while the vehicle is operated in city driving conditions, for example: stop and go traffic with extended idle periods.
A171338 2012913-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 10-07 dated June 3, 2010. Oil filter cartridge requires replacement.
A171339 2030197-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 13-37 dated March 13, 2013. Customer complains of excessive oil consumption. A191335 2025303-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 19 number 11-19 dated February 10, 2011. Discontinuation and mixing of Audi-approved engine coolants. G11, G12, and G12+ coolants have been replaced by an improved version. G12++ coolant (for service available) has been introduced in MY 2005 for all engines. G13 has been introduced in MY 2008 as factory filling and service.
A371398 2025754-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-34 dated January 12, 2012. The vehicle pulls away with a jerk and slightly increased engine speed. There are no fault entries in the transmission control module. The vehicle hardly tends to creep in driving mode D and R. When pulling away, a jerk can be felt. The gear changes are uncomfortable. Shifting concerns while cruising or kick down. Shuddering or jerking when in R. Harsh gear engagement. Improved software of the transmission control module.
A571385 2017082-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 13-82 dated February 5, 2013. Central locking via remote control does not work either sporadically or permanently. The locks can still be operated manually. Missing synchronization between the remote control key and vehicle because the battery has been disconnected or the battery of the remote control has been replaced. If other senders operate in the same frequency range (mobile phones, TV stations, wireless headphones, baby monitors, other vehicle remote controls, etc.), the remote control key may have been temporarily switched off because a clear identification of the remote control key is not possible. This is necessary to prevent an unintentional unlocking of the vehicle by other unrelated senders.
A911380 2032706-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-73 dated January 25, 2013. Customer complains of a "popping" noise from the radio followed by 10-15 seconds of no audio. The concern can happen in any audio source. Vehicle is equipped with MMI 3G or MMI 3G+ infotainment systems. Vehicle is not equipped with Bose or Bang & Olufsen sound systems. An ignition cycle is not required for audio to resume. The problem originates in the HD radio code, which can create a "resetting" within the radio unit. Because the tuner is always active in the background, the problem can occur regardless of the audio source or if the HD radio is on or off. It can also occur at any point that the MMI is on, but not necessarily active. For example, the customer opens a door and the MMI starts up. Even though the system is not ?on? because the ignition is not active, the tuner is running and can create the effect.
A941310 2029194-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 13-03 dated February 1, 2013. Only vehicles with Xenon headlights can be affected by this condition. The customer complains the high beams do not function on one side or one of the low beams flickers intermittently. In addition to this, an "Adaptive Headlight Defective" warning can be present in the cluster if the vehicle has the Prestige trim level. One of the following DTCs are set in the vehicle electrical system control module, J519 (09), or in the headlamp range control module, J431 (55), depending on the trim level of the vehicle. Vehicles with the Premium Plus option package can have the DTC set in the J519 (09) module. Vehicles with the Prestige option package can have the DTC set in the J431 (55) module. One or more of the connectors inside the headlamp housing are disconnected fully or partially from the factory.
A941311 2028277-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 13-01 dated January 2, 2013. There is considerable moisture present in the headlamp. The moisture disappears only after extended drives (greater than 10 minutes). There is no external damage to the headlamp which could introduce moisture.
Email Mandatory2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. This document contains the important email to all Audi dealership personnel in regards to the immediate madatory stop-sale order that is in effect to all vehicles from 20110-2015 that have a 2.0L TDI engine.
A961501 2019260-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 13-67 dated July 10, 2013. The customer may report that the handheld transmitter cannot be programmed to the garage door opener control module, J530. The customer?s door opener system may not be compatible with J530. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. In A4 model years 2005?2006 and A3 model year 2009, the actual location of the garage door opener control module differs from the location shown in the owner's manual (opposite side of front bumper). The customer may misunderstand the programming procedure, particularly if the customer?s HomeLink® opener system is using an alternate code. The handheld transmitter?s programming function may become inoperative, or the transmitter is too far away from J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. If the vehicle flashes during the programming of a handheld transmitter, this does not necessarily indicate that the programming was successful; it only indicates that the vehicle has recognized and saved a signal.
A911517 2042013-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. While using Audi connect, the customer cannot access the online destination search and/or the Google Earth navigation view. ?This service is currently unavailable. Please try again later" message appears in the MMI. The customer may also see an error message in the myAudi portal indicating that one or multiple licenses are expired and must be renewed. Replacing the SIM card or MMI hardware or performing the SVM recovery activation will not remedy the concern.
A871570 2041717-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 15-67 dated August 19, 2015. This bulletin applies to any repair that requires replacement of the air conditioning compressor. Any replacement of A/C compressors?regardless of the reason for failure?must include an ODIS GFF cooling performance test plan of the A/C system with documentation of the recovered refrigerant volume. This GFF test plan requirement is mandatory without exception.
A701547 2038029-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 70 number 15-44 dated February 25, 2015. Various squeaks and/or rattles are heard from the roof area on vehicles equipped with a panoramic sunroof. These noises can be created by the points of contact between the sunroof cover trim frame and the clips that retain it to the headliner.
A481567 2017266-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 14-62 dated September 23, 2014. Electrically-adjustable steering column adjustment is restricted and does not adjust vertically. Incorrect operation of Easy Entry is not the cause. It is unlikely that external forces have led to the loss of the stored end positions of the adjustment movement. See TSB 2015819, 48 Easy Entry function of the power adjustable steering column intermittently does not work, for more information. Seat adjustments can be used to maintain the 10-inch minimum recommended distance from the steering wheel in case of airbag deployment. The axial adjustment is still functional during this condition. The steering column may be under tension due to unfavorable tolerances of the steering column and module cross carrier. As a result, the current draw of the regulator motors is above specification, which causes the electric steering column adjustment to fail. Once the vehicle electrical system control module, J519 (address word 09), detects an excessive current draw, the basic settings will be erased. If basic settings are not stored in the vehicle electrical system control module, the module will not send voltage/current to the motor to operate the vertical adjustment.
A191562 2025303-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 19 number 15-61 dated July 7, 2015.
A171565 2038129-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 15-63 dated June 2, 2015. A check with the engine oil service dipstick T40178 is necessary, but the adjustment values for the dipstick are not available in the Elsa repair manual. Because of a system change, the adjustment values for the service dipstick T40178 were removed from the repair manual.
Scheduled Maint2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. This document contains the scheduled maintenance intervals. The first scheduled service is due at 5,000 miles (8,000 km) or 1 year after delivery, whichever occurs first. Thereafter, all remaining scheduled services are due every 10,000 miles or 1 year after previous service, whichever occurs first.
A911521 2039476-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 15-06 dated July 28, 2015. The customer complains that the Audi connect online service in their 2011-2013 A8, 2012-2013 Q7, or 2013 A4, A5, A5 cabriolet, or Q5 vehicle only reaches 2G service. This bulletin applies only to model year 2011-2013 A8, 2012-2013 Q7, and 2013 A4, A5, A5 cabriolet, and 2013 Q5 vehicles. For 2012-2013 A6 and A7 vehicles see TSB 2039515. This bulletin does not apply to model year 2014 and newer. Starting with model year 2014, the new telephone module was installed in production. The model year 2014 A8 is not included in this repair. Model year 2014 was the last year before the A8 product improvement and ElsaPro may classify these vehicles as model year 2013 because these vehicles are the same from a technical and design standpoint. But unlike the model year 2013 vehicles, the model year 14 vehicles already have the updated telephone module in the MMI. Recently, T-Mobile (the service provider for Audi connect) has repurposed some of the GSM spectrum (3G on 2100Mhz band) to maximize 4G LTE coverage in certain metropolitan areas. Devices that do not support 3G service on the 1900MHZ band (including MMI main units of the vehicles to which this bulletin applies) will only receive 2G service when the switch is completed. The change currently only affects the markets listed above, but will affect other markets in coming years. This bulletin will be updated to include these markets as changes occur.
A701549 2037104-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 70 number 14-38 dated April 30, 2014. Squeak and rattle noises can be heard in the front doors when music tuned with heavy bass is being played. The noises are likely due to contact between the foam isolation blocks on the door front door panels and the door structure or vibration in the door wiring harness bundle or connectors.
A701548 2038029-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 70 number 15-47 dated September 21, 2015. Various squeaks and/or rattles are heard from the roof area on vehicles equipped with a panoramic sunroof. These noises can be created by the points of contact between the sunroof cover trim frame and the clips that retain it to the headliner.
A511510 2009967-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 51 number 15-09 dated October 2, 2015. Instructions for vehicle inspection, protection removal, and detailing.
A511509 2009967-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 51 number 13-07 dated September 30, 2013. Instructions for vehicle inspection, protection removal, and detailing.
A461525 2022584-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING: STEERING WHEEL/HANDLE BAR; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 14-86 dated July 14, 2014. DO NOT use this TSB if there is another TSB for same concern applicable to the VIN. This TSB is only intended for diagnostic purposes and does not serve as a guideline for determining warrantable conditions. Customer may report that the steering wheel vibrates or pulsates when the brakes are applied. driving style, environmental conditions, and service history of the vehicle. Additionally, as brake pads and discs wear, their dampening ability is reduced. Disc thickness variation (DTV) is a common condition that contributes to brake pulsation. DTV occurs when the two braking surfaces of the brake disc are no longer parallel to each other. This condition cannot be accurately measured with normal workshop tools.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
