The connection of the customer's smartphone connected via the original USB cable is disconnected after an undefined period of time for no apparent reason. Mercedes-Benz AG has determined that on certain Metris (447 platform) vehicles, the fuel pump impeller might not meet specifications in regards to material characteristics. As a consequence, the impeller might deform. It might therefore come into contact with the fuel pump housing, leading to a mechanical resistance. In some instances, this could lead to a shutdown of the fuel pump. As a result, the vehicle could lose propulsion, and increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Complaint Various issues including control unit programming procedure will not complete successfully/no newer software found, communication faults, or sporadic malfunction of systems. Cause Aftermarket CAN device could be installed into the vehicle's CAN network. Such devices can be but are not limited to, remote start modules, CAN blockers, or high idle modules. Remedy A successful control unit programming session cannot be ensured while aftermarket devices are connected to the vehicle's CAN network. Some of the device companies supply a bypass to allow control unit programming.

Remedy Note: Do not replace any component parts or carry out any diagnostic work! Model 447.6/7 (Metris) As of the introduction of code FR1 (Rearview camera, non-folding), the folding function of the reversing camera is no longer available (discontinuation of camera cover (KAB) control unit (N144)). Consequently, the reversing camera remains open/folded out at all times. The representation of the camera image on the media display of the radio/radio- navigation (N87/15) is not restricted and functions in the usual way. Information: There are no plans for a retrospective adaptation of the folding function through Aftersales.
