Service bulletins for the 2017 Ram 1500

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

90030592022-08-08. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Park Assist Sensor 1) Active or Stored DTC of Signal Shape / Waveform Failure fault: B128E-25, B128F-25, B1290-25, B1291-25, B1292-25, B1293-25, B1295-25, B1296-25, B1297-25, and/or B1298-25, check for snow/mud/ice/obstruction and clean the Sensors, both front and back (behind bumper) of sensor. The snow/mud/ice can be behind the bumper, sensor retainer and/or the sensor which may cause customers to think they have an issue since they cleaned the front of the sensor/bumper, but not behind where dirt/mud/ice snow can accumulate. Once the Bumper and Sensors are completely cleaned and clear of snow, mud, ice, and/or obstruction, the sensors must activate in order for the faults to go STORED. After cleaning the Bumper and Sensors, turn off the engine, wait 10 seconds, turn on the engine and then place the vehicle in REVERSE so that the sensors activate. The faults will go STORED. 2) Active or Stored DTC code of Short to Ground fault: B128E-11, B128F-11, B1290-11, B1291-11, B1292-11, B1293-11, B1294-11, B1295-11, B1296-11, and/or B1298-11, or if you have an active or stored DTC code of Performance or Incorrect Operation fault: B128E-92, B128F-92, B1290-92, B1291-92, B1293-92, B1294-92, B1295-92, B1296-92, B1297-92, and/or B1298-92, then check the wiring behind the sensor. Specifically, ensure that the connector behind the park assist sensor is fully mounted. Ensure also, there is no dirt, corrosion, or damage in this connector behind the park assist sensor as this will also cause a Short to Ground fault. With potential wiring issues addressed, the sensors must activate in order for the faults to go STORED. After all sensors are properly connected (you will likely hear a click once the connector is fully seated on the sensor), turn off the engine, wait 10 seconds, turn on the engine and then place the vehicle in REVERSE so that the sensors activate. The faults will go STORED.
90036962022-08-08. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS. Door Hinge Assembly Side door hinge noisy. Only replace the door hinge with the integral check device. 90029772022-08-08. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH. Door latch Before replacing this part please contact Kevin Murphree at Cell (248) 613-3417 or Samantha Kallman (248)-576-1532. If you are unable to get a response within 15 minutes, please continue with the repair.
90036692022-08-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN. Auto Trans Rotary Electronic Shifter The rotary shifter is designed to actuate a motor within the device whenever the driver places their foot on the brake, with the car in Park (or Neutral). This generates a noise with each brake press/release. Therefore, even after replacing the shifter for a noise complaint, the replacement part will also have a characteristic noise generated whenever the driver steps on the brake. Before performing a repair procedure for a noise complaint, please perform a subjective analysis of the noise coming from the rotary shifter. If the shifter noise is deemed abnormal sound (has an uncharacteristic buzz or grind), please proceed with normal replacement procedure. If so equipped, record the sound with a handheld microphone, or cell phone, and if noise is above 54dB @ 30cm away from the knob, please proceed with normal replacement procedure. For any further questions, please contact Theodore Kahiya at cell (519) 300-2443.
90032162022-08-08. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:REARVIEW MIRRORS/DEVICES:EXTERIOR; VISIBILITY. Power Fold Rearview Mirror Prior to replacing this part for a loose mirror, please first follow this procedure to reset the pivot mechanism. Move the mirror to its full foward position and then to full retract position using the power fold mirror button located on drivers side door panel. Perform this procedure three times. If this doesn't resolve the issue, then repair as necessary.~ Note: 1- The looseness of power fold mirror does not necessary indicate a defective mirror, it may be caused by folding it manually rather than using the power fold feature. If the mirror is adjusted manually out of the proper detent, always use the button to adjust it back into sync.~ 2- The intended use of the power fold mirrors is by pushing the button to fold and unfold the mirror. Only manually fold the mirrors when absolutely necessary.~ 3- In the circumstance where the left hand mirror and right hand mirror are in different positions, it may take up to three cycles (bottom pushes) to re-sync the mirrors together.
14-003-172022-08-08. Service bulletin. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM:INJECTORS. Fuel Weeping From Number Three Cylinder Injector Return Hose This bulletin involves inspecting the fuel return line connections at the number three cylinder fuel injector. Some customers may experience a fuel smell and/or weepage. Upon further investigation, a technician may notice the issue emanating from under the hood at the number three cylinder injector return hose connector.
90032932022-08-08. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. A/C Pressure Transducer A/C inoperative and diagnosis leads to pressure transducer. Call Steve Rice at cell (248) 867-0061 before replacing the pressure transducer. If no response in 15 minutes, please proceed with repair.
90038092022-08-08. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; BACK OVER PREVENTION. Pinion Bearing Customer complaint of growling/groaning/grinding noise (not whine) from rear axle. Inspect pinion bearings for spalling. If spalling is found, replace the axle assembly without removing bearing cup from the housing. Please contact Ashley Gerebics at cell: (248) 472-6524 to arrange fast tracking of the axle to FCA. If no response in 15 minutes, proceed with repair.
