Service bulletins for the 2017 MINI Clubman

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

139 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

M5103172018-11-05. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES. LEFT SPLIT DOOR WON'T UNLATCH. Left split door (tailgate) is not able to be opened. M2202172018-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. There is a knocking noise coming from the engine compartment or the engine shakes during: z Engine start z When driving off from a stop z When applying brakes CAUSE Damage to the right side engine mount. The damage may be subtle (1st picture) or obvious (2nd picture). Inspect the right engine mount and replace if necessary.
M6504172018-11-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. LIST OF AVAILABLE FM RADIO STATIONS TEMPORARILY NOT AVAILABLE. As of 11/2015, all Entry-NAV/Media head units supplied in new vehicles were upgraded for improved noise characteristics and quality. As a part of this upgrade, the hardware updating the sender lists was changed from an "update after every diversity reception interruption or maximum of four minutes" configuration to "regular interval updates (every four minutes) without regard to diversity reception status" configuration. This may cause a delay of up to four minutes for updates to the sender list when leaving areas of poor reception. https://www.minitis.net/tiscode/cgi-bin/bulletin.aspx?sie_path=/tsb/bulletins/htm_store/407...
M6301172018-11-05. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING. SERVICE COVER FOR THE REAR LIGHT IS LOOSE. Mounting position of service cover is too low and clearance dimensions between the cover and door are too tight.

A creaking noise is heard from the front end of the vehicle while cornering (predominantly left turns) under the following conditions: Driving In 1st or 2nd gear; While coasting or accelerating; with an Outside ambient temperature that is below 10C (50F); and After engine warm-up, the ambient temperature of engine compartment may exceed 10C (50F) even though the outside temperature is still below 10C (50F). Noise cannot be reproduced during straight-ahead driving.
M1202172018-11-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. ?SERVICE ACTION: PROGRAM CONTROL UNITS (DME). Due to an error in the OBD diagnostics of the DME software, a marginal catalytic convertor or post catalyst oxygen sensor may not be detected as faulty.
M1201172018-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. MIL IS ON WITH FAULT CF0486 STORED IN THE EGS MODULE. The Service Engine Soon (MIL) light is on. The following fault is stored in the AISIN EGS module: z CF0486: EGS,PT-CAN2: Line fault/electrical fault It is possible the following Check Control messages could be displayed: z Engine fault! Power loss (CCM ID 29) z Drive faulty! (CCM ID 419) - The transmission is in the emergency program and the engine is running with reduced power. This fault occurs sporadically when the ignition is turned on or the engine started. Unfavorable DME software Only vehicles at the following I-levels are affected: z F056-16-03-50x or F056-16-07-50x.
M6601172018-11-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. ? COMFORT ACCESS LOCKING REQUIRES MULTIPLE BUTTON PRESSES . Locking vehicle with CA button requires two presses, with up to 3 second delay between presses. Body Domain Controller (BDC) software
M6503172018-11-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. . INFORMATION Inform the customer that the introduction of these expanded frequencies by the wireless mobile providers may be influencing reception quality. MINI is currently working with the wireless mobile providers in order to improve the quality of reception and help alleviate the issues that are caused by the wireless mobile expanded frequencies. Once we have more information about this situation this service information bulletin will be updated. Currently Satellite Radio is provided by SiriusXM for MINI customers via geosynchronous (GEO) satellites located roughly above the equator. This means that the satellite signal to some parts of the United States can come in at an angle as low as 32 degrees to the horizon. Due to this angle, buildings, hills, trees, highway sound blocking walls or other obstacles might block the satellite signal coming from reaching the vehicle receiver antenna and might cause audio cut outs, unless the wireless provider has installed terrestrial repeaters. Reception quality decreases the further north you travel, as the angle of the incoming signal gets smaller. Also adverse weather conditions might affect reception. At this time, in the event of a customer complaint or inquiry on interference noise: ? Do not replace any parts ? Do not program or carry out other work on the vehicle ? Explain to customer about the new Wireless Communications Service (WCS) signalsWhen investigating Satellite Radio cutouts or a temporary loss of reception: ? Please compare to a similarly equipped vehicle. Keep in mind the roofline of the vehicle, size of the antenna (sharkfin) and location of the antenna on the vehicle will all affect the strength of the reception. Do not compare a Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) with a high roofline mounted antenna to a different vehicle such as a coupe or convertible with a much lower mounting point of the antenna.
M5114162018-11-05. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY. "? INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR MOVES OUT OF POSITION . The ""manually-dimming"" interior rearview mirror does not hold its set position when traveling over rough roads and/or with ""low ambient"" interior temperatures. The pivot ball surface finish does not provide sufficient friction for stable positioning."
M1201172018-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE; POWER TRAIN. ? MIL IS ON WITH FAULT CF0486 STORED IN THE EGS MODULE . The Service Engine Soon (MIL) light is on. The following fault is stored in the AISIN EGS module: ? CF0486: EGS,PT-CAN2: Line fault/electrical fault It is possible the following Check Control messages could be displayed: ? Engine fault! Power loss (CCM ID 29) ? Drive faulty! (CCM ID 419) - The transmission is in the emergency program and the engine is running with reduced power. This fault occurs sporadically when the ignition is turned on or the engine started. Unfavorable DME software Only vehicles at the following I-levels are affected: ? F056-16-03-50x or F056-16-07-50x
M1101172018-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. "? FAULT 118002 - MIXTURE TOO RICH SETS DURING WINTER WITH COLD AMBIENT TEMPERATURES What's New: ? In the Warranty Information section: defect code, labor operations and additional information are updated . The Service Engine Soon (MIL) light is on with the following fault stored in the DME. ? Fault: 118002 - Mixture too rich In the situation being described, the fault is only stored during the ""cold winter months along with the use of winter fuel."" Various other causes for a rich mixture fault are possible and should not be overlooked. CAUSE ? DME software diagnostic is too sensitive ? This situation is most likely to occur if the driving profile is one of frequent cold engine starts and/or primarily short distance trips (idle / low load operation) where full engine operating temperature is not reached. ? Due to the lower engine oil temperatures crankcase vapors that contain a higher fuel content are not completely drawn off via the crankcase ventilation system. ? A false DME adaptation routine could then lead to this fault being set."
M3101172018-11-05. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. FRONT SUSPENSION RIDE HEIGHT HAS DROPPED. INFORMATION Please refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC), using the VIN to locate the part numbers.
