Service bulletins for the 2017 MINI Clubman

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

139 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

M6106072023-11-01. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. MINI electrical systems have continued to develop over the past few years. As a result, the demand on the batteries has increased. Breakdowns due to an empty battery or problems in the vehicles electrical system can have various causes, most of which are not due to the battery itself. For this reason, a battery replacement will permanently eliminate the problem only in the rarest of cases. The energy diagnosis test module helps to localize these causes. This document covers important information for the dealer on how to handle “discharged battery” complaints. Without performing the energy diagnosis test plan, the root cause of a discharged battery cannot be identified. In order to properly repair the vehicle the first time, it is very important that the diagnostic test plan is performed to completion; with all results taken into consideration.
M8403222023-04-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The 3G network in the US has been shut down. This means that only the 4G network will be available. In the 4G network, voice calls will be transferred via Voice over LTE (VoLTE) function. For this purpose, the SIM card must perform an IMS registration in the mobile communication network. Due to a production error, the telematics control units were delivered without an IMS configuration. The Connected Drive voice services (Concierge Call, MINI Assistance and emergency call voice) can no longer be used regionally in the US in vehicle with telematics control units ATM-1 and TCB-4G. Voice control of the vehicle and all other telephone (paired mobile devices) functions are not affected. Emergency call location data is unaffected.
M6102232023-04-17. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The buttons on the gear selector switch (GWS) do not work, or the function indicator lighting has failed.

M3401202020-09-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BODY CONTROL MODULE/BCM. SERVICE ACTION - PROGRAM THE BODY DOMAIN CONTROL (BDC) UNIT: Aftermarket scan tools cannot read fault codes in the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) unit via the On Board Diagnostic (OBD) socket. The DSC data is not processed correctly in the BDC and therefore cannot transmit any diagnostic requests via the OBD using aftermarket scan tools.
M6602202020-08-31. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; SERVICE BRAKES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. KAFAS (CAMERA-BASED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS) LIMITATIONS: KAFAS camera-based assistance system (without radar) is not operating up to customer expectations. Customers can report system errors such as: Vehicle equipped with camera-based ACC, brakes without apparent reason and then does not accelerate When ACC is active, the vehicle does not brake, although it is obvious it should brake; or it even accelerates KAFAS system deactivates independently, due to system limitations that are not clear to the customer KAFAS system cannot be activated due to system limitations that are not clear to the customer When accelerating from a standstill, the vehicle does not automatically start in "Follow mode" Road signs are sporadically not detected Lane departure warning sporadically fails to function For the situations described in this service information bulletin that pertain to normal system limitations, ISTA diagnosis does not show any relevant fault codes stored.
M6203182020-08-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. BLACK SPOT IN THE CENTRAL INFORMATION DISPLAY: A small black spot remains on the Central Information Display's (CID) illuminated screen which does not go away after a key cycle or sleep mode. Dead pixels in the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) diodes. Each individual light pixel on an LCD screen is made up of three diodes- red, blue and green. If all three fail, the pixel will appear as a permanent black dot. Dead pixels can occur as a result of: Blunt force contact to the screen that does not result in a cracked surface Non-functioning diodes Manufacturer defects (e.g., gas bubble).
M8408182020-05-18. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. CONNECTEDDRIVE/MINI ASSIST SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS INFORMATION: ConnectedDrive/BMW Assist features are partially or completely inoperative.
M6201192020-04-27. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. CENTRAL INSTRUMENT PANEL LED SURROUND RING DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN IGNITION IS TURNED ON: This Service Information Bulletin (Revision 2) replaces SI M62 01 19 dated January 2019.The central instrument's outer perimeter LED ring (arrows) does not illuminate when switching on the ignition or with the engine start-stop button. It only illuminates after direct actuation of a component (e.g. setting the temperature radio volume etc.). F57 shown; other models similar Software error in the Automotive Pixel Link driver (APIX driver). APIX is the serial high-speed Gigabit multichannel link that connects displays such as the LED ring with vehicle control modules.
M6102202020-04-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STEERING; SUSPENSION; ENGINE; SERVICE BRAKES. CHECK CONTROL MESSAGES FOR BRAKE SUSPENSION AND AIR BAG SYSTEM MALFUNCTION: Multiple check control messages (CCM) can display for brake suspension and air bag system malfunction. The customer may also complain about any of the following: Engine can no longer be switched off Drive position (D) cannot be engaged on the gear selector switch (GWS) Reduction of steering assist After an engine emergency shut-off (either a prolonged long press; or 3 consecutive short presses of the Start/Stop button) and the vehicle going to sleep (identifiable by the lighting of the "Start/Stop button") everything resumes normal functionality and the CCM messages no longer appear. When performing a vehicle test the following diagnostic fault codes are stored in the BDC: CD0420 - "error of Flexray controller on Flexray bus" D91FF9 - "Flexray message data drivetrain 2 (DT_PT_2): Timeout" This message may be read out in the ZGM control unit or Body Domain Controller CAUSE Software in the Body Domain Control unit (BDC).
