Service bulletins for the 2019 Mazda Mazda3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

When the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) replacement is necessary due to a failure, use MDARS to initialize the new TCU after replacement. Use the information in this service alert to initialize the new TCU until the procedure on MGSS is updated. CAUTION: If TCU initialization is not performed, connected vehicle functions will not operate. This will have a negative impact on the customer because they will need to return to the dealer for repairs.
09-017-20-37012020-05-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience that the door locks may not operate using the touch sensor on the outer door handle while parked in a parking space surrounded by concrete walls, but will operate when using the remote transmitter. This concern may be caused by refraction and/or diffraction of the signal used for the advanced keyless entry system by the steel reinforcement bars in the concrete walls. As a result, the signal will resemble a theft attempt (known as a Relay Attack) and the anti-theft function of the advanced keyless entry system will prohibit door lock operation. To eliminate this concern, the LF control unit software has been modified to reduce the improper detection of the theft attempt.
09-016-20-36932020-05-04. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may find that they cannot lock their vehicle when using the touch sensor (shown below) on the front door handle, however, they can unlock the vehicle. This concern may occur after the vehicle has been recently washed and water has accumulated around the touch sensor, resulting in temporarily lowering the sensitivity of the capacitor sensor. To eliminate this concern, the shape and material of the rubber sheet attached to the touch sensor has been improved.

When the Telematics Communication Unit (TCU) has been replaced or reprogrammed and the software is updated to ones shown below, DTC U2050:55-TCU (Activation of remote control not implemented) may be stored in memory with the message "In-Vehicle Network Malfunction" displayed in the multi-information display. - Japan built vehicles: BDGF-67CK2-B or later suffix. - Mexico built vehicles: BDTS-67CK2-A or later suffix. NOTE: The Description for DTC U2050:55-TCU will be added to MGSS. This is caused by a communication error between the TCU, the Connectivity Master Unit (CMU), and the Body Control Module (BCM) when the control software in them are not of the version being ready for activation of connected service. To correct this concern, the control software of the TCU, CMU and BCM have been modified. When you encounter this concern, reprogram (update) the BCM and the CMU to the latest version.
