Service bulletins for the 2017 Mazda Mazda3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

09-015-20-36982020-05-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience the MAZDA CONNECT rebooting or the screen turning black during cold temperatures. The concern occurs when the interior of the vehicle is cold and disappears when the interior warms up. This is caused by some SD cards for the MAZDA CONNECT navigation system being manufactured with improper hardware, resulting in a data reading error during cold temperatures. To correct the concern, the SD card hardware has been changed.
06-002-37052020-05-04. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some vehicles may exhibit an unusual noise (clacking) from under the front of the vehicle. This noise only occurs when starting to move the vehicle while the steering wheel is fully turned to the driver-side (left side for LHD vehicle and right side for RHD vehicle). NOTE: The noise will not occur if the steering wheel is in the center or to the full passenger-side position. The noise is caused when the edge (A) of the inner ball joint (B) gets stuck with the steering gear housing (C).

It does not mean there is an actual FSC defect. • In some cases the customer may have a concern with the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) and/or High Beam Control system (HBC). • In other cases this DTC might be found without a related customer concern. NOTE: Instrument Cluster Multi-Information Display Warning Messages vary depending on vehicle year/model. See the Owner's Manual for details.
SA-036-202020-04-06. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. The owner’s manual contains procedures and precautions for the maintenance and cleaning of plastic parts, like the brand emblem. However, it is still important to remind customers about these precautions. Customers should never use inadequate, harsh or aggressive cleaning products on plastic parts. CAUTION: Be aware that when cleaning the brand emblem, never use cleaning products that are highly acidic/alkaline detergent, organic solvents or those with aggressive chemical products, otherwise, the brand emblem may become cracked and/or deformed (as shown in the example below). Mazda has developed factory recommended scheduled maintenance services that support all major vehicle systems. As a past malfunction, the customer will not notice it (no warning light illuminated), but the DTC may be found during a vehicle service. P2507 in this situation is only applicable on 2016 and later models. This is caused by the engine being started 3 or more times after a short duration of engine off (less than 15 seconds) with the room fused removed. NOTE: The odometer will display “F0-002” during transport mode (room fuse 15A removed). Transport mode is canceled when room fuse 15A is installed or the vehicle odometer is more than 12.4mi (20km).Vehicles in dealer inventory with this concern should be repaired using the following repair procedure.
09-003-20-36712020-01-23. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer’s responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometer and related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. • Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. • When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. • This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. • Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the “Speedometer Replacement Label”. Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. • In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda’s vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO’s services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after- warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.

02-007-19-36452019-12-21. Service bulletin. WHEELS. Some vehicles may exhibit corrosion of the wheel nuts. This is caused by torsional stress concentrating on the tip of the wheel nut because of the thin and long shape of the nut, which damages the coating and causes the corrosion. To correct this issue, the width across the flats of the wheel nuts have been changed from 17mm to 21mm.
02-006-19-36462019-12-21. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Some vehicles may exhibit a knocking noise from the rear of the vehicle when driving over a road bump. Upon inspection of the rear suspension, the bump stop (bound stopper) of the rear shock absorber is coming out of the mounting rubber. This is caused by the adhesive surface of the mounting rubber bracket having inadequate roughness opposite to the bound stopper and the bracket shape being inapporopriate to have sufficient holding force. The bound stopper may come out under any of the following conditions:• When the bound stopper shrinks during cold weather • When the bound stopper expands during cold weather after absorbing water • When the shock absorber moves down after freezing over in between the shock absorber and the dust cover.
