Service bulletins for the 2017 Mazda Mazda3
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SA-051-25 | 2025-12-05. Service bulletin. STEERING; SUSPENSION; POWER TRAIN; WHEELS. Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Diagnostic Guidelines Diagnostic Guidelines When diagnosing NVH concerns, it is essential to first classify the issue into one of three primary categories: Noise, Vibration, or Harshness. Many customer complaints may involve overlapping symptoms, such as both noise and vibration, so identifying the dominant characteristic is critical. Once the primary symptom is determined, follow the appropriate diagnostic path. For example, if a concern includes both noise and vibration but is related to vehicle speed, the vibration diagnostic path should be followed. When considering component replacement during the diagnostic process, it is best practice to start with the lowest cost or most accessible part unless diagnostic evidence clearly identifies a more expensive or complex component as the root cause. This approach helps minimize repair costs and avoids unnecessary part replacements. For example, a growling or bearing whine noise may be mistakenly attributed to internal components in the differential, transfer unit, or transmission, when the actual source is a wheel bearing. Misdiagnosis like this can lead to unnecessary repairs, added time and cost. To help prevent this, always follow the guidelines in the repair procedure. |

| 15-003-20-3737a | 2020-11-03. Service bulletin. STEERING; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE; SERVICE BRAKES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some vehicles may exhibit that the SBS/SCBS warning light (amber) turns ON right after the engine is started with DTC U0420:68 [FSC] (Error signal received from electric power steering (EPS) control module) stored in memory. For Mazda6 and CX-5, the following error messages may appear in the instrument cluster. • Front camera sensor system malfunction • Forward Smart City Brake Support Malfunction • Driver attention alert system malfunction. This may be caused by the battery voltage falling and the EPS control module failing the initial learning for the steering center position while cranking. The FSC detects the error notified by the EPS control module. To correct this concern, the control software of the EPS control module has been modified while the repair procedure modifies the FSC for earlier repairs in the market. |

| 06-002-3705 | 2020-05-04. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some vehicles may exhibit an unusual noise (clacking) from under the front of the vehicle. This noise only occurs when starting to move the vehicle while the steering wheel is fully turned to the driver-side (left side for LHD vehicle and right side for RHD vehicle). NOTE: The noise will not occur if the steering wheel is in the center or to the full passenger-side position. The noise is caused when the edge (A) of the inner ball joint (B) gets stuck with the steering gear housing (C). |
| 02-003-20-3677 | 2020-01-30. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some customers may complain that the steering wheel is off center more than 3° even when driving straight on a flat road. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| 06-001-19-3575 | 2019-03-11. The noise is caused when the edge (A) of the inner ball joint (B) gets stuck with the steering gear housing(C). To eliminate the noise, a spacer (A) has been installed between the inner ball joint (B) and the steering gear housing (C) (both sides) to prevent direct contact. |
| MT-012-18 | 2019-03-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY; STEERING. If a vehicle has body vibration or steering wheel shimmy while driving and the root cause is determined to be tire balance, re-balance the tires using a Hunter GSP9700 or equivalent balance machine. If your dealer does not have a GSP9700 or equivalent balance machine, sublet the vehicle out for repair. To find the location of a GSP9700 near your dealer, visit Hunter?s web site at www.gsp9700.com and click on ?Locate a GSP9700 Road Force Balancer.? |

| 06-002-17-3367 | 2017-10-04. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION; STEERING. Some vehicles may exhibit an unusual noise (clacking) from under the front of the vehicle. This noise only occurs when starting to move the vehicle while the steering wheel is turned to the full left position. NOTE: The noise will not occur if the steering wheel is in the center or full right position. The noise is caused when the edge (A) of the left side inner ball joint (B) gets stuck with the steering gear housing (C). |
| 02-005-17-3013g | 2017-08-10. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION; SUSPENSION:FRONT:SHOCK ABSORBER; STEERING. Some vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following noises from the front suspension. A squeaking noise from the front shock absorber when turning the steering wheel at a vehicle standstill caused by stick-slip between the front strut bearing and the coil spring. A popping noise from the front shock absorber when passing over speed bumps caused by the bump stopper contacting the strut bearing when the shock absorber is compressed. A creaking noise from the lower arm when driving over road bumps at 20-40 km/h caused by stick-slip of the front lower arm bushing. The noise occurs when the road surface is wet or after a car washing, and becomes more noticeable as the speed bump gets higher. To correct these problems, the following changes have been made. For the squeaking and popping noise, the shape of the bump stopper has been modified and a protector has been installed onto the coil spring. For the creaking noise, the friction of the lower arm bushing has been reduced by adding a dry coating. |
