Service bulletins for the 2024 Mazda CX-90

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Some customers may complain about the following symptoms: A bark, hoot, crunch, chirp, honk noise and/or vibration during 1-2 shift while accelerating from a complete stop at operating temperature. A vibration when engine restarting by i-stop function. NOTE: See attached video file "Sample Noise" at end of document. This shift noise and/or vibration may be caused by improper hydraulic pressure control of the automatic transmission. To eliminate these concerns, the control software of the TCM has been modified.
05-004-242024-07-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some customers may complain about shift shock during 1-2 shift when the vehicle is cold (ATF temperature is 86 °F (30 °C) or lower). This concern most likely occurs on the vehicle with certain versions of TCM file name as follows: This may be caused by improper hydraulic pressure control of the automatic transmission. To eliminate this concern, the control software of the TCM has been modified.
01-006-242024-07-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some customers may experience a driving feel concern due to a late response to start the engine (and cancel EV mode) while climbing uphill in EV mode under a low battery SOC (30% or lower) condition. This may be caused by improper control software of the PCM. To eliminate this concern, the control software of the PCM has been modified.
PF-24-062024-06-03. Other. POWER TRAIN. When replacing the valve body for the CX-70 or CX-90 Inline 6, please note that the pipes are not included in the valve body assembly. They are only provided with the transmission assembly.
05-003-242024-06-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some customers may feel a slight surge when driving at around 60 mph (100 km/h) in EV mode and decelerating with the accelerator pedal not fully released. If the accelerator pedal is fully released, the concern does not occur. This may be caused by improper torque control occurring for some shift down occasions. To eliminate this concern, the control software of the TCM has been modified.

Some customers may complain about the following symptoms: A bark, hoot, crunch, chirp, honk noise and/or vibration during 1-2 shift while accelerating from a complete stop at operating temperature. • A vibration when engine restarting by i-stop function. • NOTE: See attached video file "Sample Noise" at end of document. This shift noise and/or vibration may be caused by improper hydraulic pressure control of the automatic transmission. To eliminate these concerns, the control software of the TCM has been modified.
05-002-242024-05-24. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some technicians may notice an oil seepage from the A/T at the thermo valve when the vehicle under covers are removed. This is caused by insufficient tightening torque of the thermo valve. To eliminate this concern, the tightening torque of the thermo valve has been modified from 52-59 ft-lbs (70-80 N·m) to 63-71 ft-lbs (86-96 N·m). Technicians seeing this concern should repair the vehicle using the following repair procedure.
05-001-242024-05-24. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some customers may complain about a bark, hoot, crunch, chirp, honk noise during 1-2 shift while accelerating from a complete stop. This shift noise may be caused by improper hydraulic pressure control of the automatic transmission. To eliminate this concern, the control software of the TCM has been modified.
SA-020-24a2024-05-03. Service bulletin. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; LANE DEPARTURE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The CX-70 and CX-90 have new and revised features that are different from previous models and may be difficult to understand. This Service Alert provides valuable information to support potential dealer and customer concerns.
03-001-24a2024-05-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some vehicles may experience differential oil leaking from the oil seal (RH side) at the front differential. This is caused by an inappropriate assembly process of the front differential to the oil pan (vehicle side). To eliminate this concern the front differential assembly process has been changed.
PF-24-032024-04-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Due to limitations, certain vehicles from 2016 to current models might display an inaccurate transmission part number in the Global Electronic Parts Catalog (GEPC). To provide support in such cases, a temporary lookup guide has been developed for assistance.
SA-020-242024-04-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. CX-70 and CX-90 service cautions for new and revised features. The CX-70 and CX-90 have new and revised features that are different from previous models and may be difficult to understand. This Service Alert provides valuable information to support potential dealer and customer concerns.
SA-019-242024-04-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Some customers may experience a vehicle no start (no "Ready-ON") due to the 12V battery discharged or the High Voltage (HV) battery discharged. This may be caused by: Ignition left ON when exiting the vehicle (exiting the vehicle during "Ready-On"). Door/liftgate opened multiple times without ignition "Ready-ON" or driving vehicle. Installation of aftermarket electronic devices. To minimize THE battery drain concern, ensure that the vehicle shift selector is in Park when exiting and verify the ignition is turned OFF when exiting. NOTE: If multiple door/liftgate opening without "Ready-ON', drive vehicle to charge 12V battery.
SA-018-242024-04-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; PARKING BRAKE; WHEELS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The 7G large platform utilizes a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Due to changes in the parking lock mechanism, which is now hydraulically operated, the neutral range in the transmission can only be achieved if the engine is running (or “Ready-On” for PHEV). With this design, there is no provision to manually engage neutral. This can cause challenges to dealers, customers, or towing providers when a vehicle cannot start and can't move, usually due to a discharged (dead) battery. In the event that a vehicle cannot be started or achieve “ready-on”, wheel dollies must be used to allow the vehicle to be rolled and moved. NOTE: The following procedure is for moving vehicle around the service shop and not for towing purposes. Please reference the owner's manual for towing instructions.

Mazda has developed factory recommended scheduled maintenance services that support all major vehicle systems. Mazda recommends dealers follow the scheduled maintenance tables as cited in the vehicle-specific workshop manual or owner's manual. Services performed outside of Mazda's factory scheduled maintenance are not recommended. These services are unnecessary and create unneeded expenses for your customers.

Old design originally required a coolant line running to the top of the bell housing, the new design has omitted the hole and need for the coolant line. The new/superseded design can be used in place of the old/original design and the coolant hose is no longer needed to be used.
