Service bulletins for the 2018 GMC Terrain

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

PIP5725A2021-04-19. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. This Preliminary information communicates the use of Winter grade fuel during the warm months of 2020 and the potential rivability issues that it can cause. The ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused significant reductions in driving and fuel use. Due to the surplus of winter grade fuel sitting in storage (pipelines/stations) the EPA is waiving the fuel vapor requirement. This will extend the use of winter fuel into the summer months. The drivability concerns should not be single events but should be multiple occurrences associated with hot days.

17-NA-3312021-04-15. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Rear View Camera Guidelines Not Present at Times Condition Some customers may report that the Rear View Camera (RVC) guidelines are temporarily not available at times but the RVC will remain on during the concern. Additionally, no related DTCs will be found if this bulletin applies. One example of when this concern may be observed is if a customer quickly starts the car and immediately places the shifter in Reverse while the infotainment system is still in the initial boot up process. Cause This is a result of the RVC image being provided via an alternate robust RVC feed from the Video Bypass Module (NGI systems) or from the radio (BYOM2 and Info 3.0 systems). This alternate robust RVC feed is provided in the event that the primary RVC feed is not available for any reason just to ensure that the RVC image is always present when in reverse. Correction If this concern is experienced and no related codes are present, DO NOT replace any parts as it is normal for the RVC guidelines not to be present when the RVC image being displayed is from the alternate robust RVC feed. If this occurs after quickly starting the vehicle and immediately placing the shifter in Drive, the RVC guidelines can be displayed again in most cases if they are really needed by safely coming to a stop, placing the transmission in Park for a moment, and then shifting to Reverse again.

Note: The push to talk button, however, still answer OnStar hands-free calls (if equipped). 2. Cannot delete USB names from the radio display. The Radio displays the names of USB drives that were previously installed and have been removed. Cause This condition may be due to one of the following: Condition 1, no action is required. It is normal operation if you do not have a phone device paired with the vehicle via Bluetooth. Condition 2, the radio displays the last 3 sources used for the radio like AM, FM, XM, Bluetooth device streaming music or USB drive. The sources are highlighted/actively listed even after the source is removed from the system. To delete the name of the USB from the radio display, push the more button on the display and select another radio sources like AM, FM or XM. Note: The radio will show the last 3 audio sources after removed, as shown in the illustration above Correction DO NOT replace the radio assembly as this is a normal design characteristic for the infotainment system.

16-NA-4072021-04-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Information on Chassis Control Module (CCM) Receives Invalid Data and Sets DTC U0422 The Technician may find DTCs U0422 set. The Technician may also find the following DTCs set. • U1534 • U1538 Information Based on analysis with the BCM team, during vehicle startup (on occasion) the PEPS module arbitration along with high bus traffic leads to the BCM setting the door open switch virtual device availability (VDA) to unavailable. The BCM does not update the VDA back to Available until the door switch changes state (this signal is event based as opposed to periodic). The ICCM sets the U0422 DTC after 1 second of either the door ajar VDA or door open VDA being unavailable. Correction Ignore CCM U0422 DTC (no service necessary) unless it is a current/active code or is accompanied by associated BCM faults U1534 or U1538.
