Service bulletins for the 2020 Ford F-450

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 490842020-09-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2017-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a TCU may exhibit inoperative remote features via Ford Pass/Lincoln Way mobile app , incomplete user authorization and/or no modem electronic serial number (ESN) displayed. To correct this condition prior to programming, remove the TCU fuse for 5 minutes then reinstall. Delete all previous session files for the vehicle. Verify that the electronic serial number (ESN) is now displayed. Start a new IDS/FDRS session. Program the TCU to the latest IDS/FDRS version level. Make sure you are connected to the internet before retesting. If the concern is still present, follow normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual(WSM), Section 415-00. Refer to PTS OASIS home page for TCU version identification. For claiming, use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 490652020-09-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Some 2011-2020 F-Super Duty, 2015-2019 Transit, 2016-2021 F-650/F-750 and 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L, 3.2L or 3.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P207F, P20EE, P229F, P2201 and/or P24AE. This may be a result of using aftermarket cleaning liquids or tools for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler or intake. Ford does not recommend the cleaning of diesel intakes or EGR coolers using any aftermarket tool that injects a cleaning foam or liquid substance into the EGR cooler or intake. Using these types of fluids can result in sodium poisoning of the NOx and particulate matter (PM) sensors resulting in degraded operation and permanent damage to the after treatment system. Use of these cleaning tools may void the emissions warranty of the hot end after treatment exhaust system and the attached emissions sensors.
SSM 490642020-09-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2020 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit a no crank concern with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) due to low fuel level or low fuel pressure. The most common diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) associated with a low fuel pressure concern are P0087 and P008A. Prior to performing Powertrain Controls and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Section diagnostics for a no crank concern, verify the vehicle is not out of fuel or has a low fuel pressure concern. The no crank symptom after a low fuel pressure event is new for the 2020 model year.
SSM 490632020-09-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2017-2020 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P20EE. The Powertrain Controls and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test RD15 has been updated to perform a diesel particulate filter (DPF) manual regeneration with the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool twice along with performing a diesel particulate filter (DPF) parameter reset and drive cycle.
SSM 490622020-09-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2017-2020 F-Super-Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit hard start, lack of power or runs rough concern with malfunction indicator light (MIL) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0087 and/or P008A. This may be due to low fuel level or fuel gelling in cold ambient temperatures. If no root cause is determined after normal PCED diagnostic test MA recommend that customer use a different brand of fuel and Motorcraft PM-23-A Diesel Fuel Anti-Gel and Performance Improver. Inform the customer that Bio Diesel blended fuels have a higher occurrence of fuel gelling. Fuel gelling and or low fuel conditions causing a P0087 and/or P008A is not covered under warranty.
SSM 491402020-09-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Some 2020 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine and built on or before 18-Aug-2020 may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction indicator (wrench) lamp with only diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P07F6 stored in the transmission control module (TCM). This DTC may be accompanied by harsh engagements, a poor shift quality feel and/or loss of 9th gear as a result of the DTC being set. If no additional codes or symptoms are present, clear the DTC with the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool and schedule a follow-up appointment for service mid-September. Inform the customer that engineering is working to implement a solution and advise the customer that they can continue to drive the vehicle. Once available, contact the customer and confirm a service appointment. Monitor OASIS for updates.

SSM 488682020-07-07. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS; EQUIPMENT. Some 2020 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) may require the removal of the factory equipped tail lamps to accommodate the use of aftermarket equipment. Once the tail lamps are removed, this may result in BLIS and CTA warning indicators illuminated in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). To clear these warning indicators, the BLIS and CTA systems will need to be disabled using the FDRS scan tool. Start a vehicle session in FDRS using the vehicles VIN and go to the toolbox tab. Locate the application labeled Disable/Enable Blind Spot Information System. Download and run this application to enable or disable the BLIS And CTA systems.

This may be due to condensation from the evaporator drain tube entering the vehicle through the drain tube seal. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to install an elbow on the evaporator drain tube to direct the condensation away from the seal.
SSM 488592020-06-04. Service bulletin. TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2020 F-Super Duty vehicles built on or before 24-Feb-2020 may not have the instrument panel cluster (IPC) configured for operation with the Factory Invoiced Accessory (FIA) or as a Genuine Ford Accessory trailer tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The customer may indicate that they cannot monitor the trailer TPMS through the IPC when a configured trailer is connected. If the 'Trailer Tire Pressure' selection is not available in the IPC, the IPC will need to be reconfigured to make the Trailer Tire Pressure selection available. Using the latest version of the FDRS scan tool, reconfigure the IPC. For claiming use causal part 10849 and refer to Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
