| SSM 48858 | 2020-06-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2012-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a TCU may exhibit an inoperative remote start with a 'Vehicle Failed To Start' message when using MyFord Mobile/Ford Pass/Lincoln Way mobile applications. The cellular cloud systems will only allow two remote start requests from the MyFord Mobile/Ford Pass/Lincoln Way apps without a vehicle drive event occurring. If a third remote start request is received, a Vehicle Failed To Start message will be displayed quickly in the mobile app. Once the vehicle is driven, the remote start counter is reset and will allow remote start commands to be sent from the mobile app. If the remote start system is not functioning using the key fob, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 303-06 for further diagnosis. |
| SSM 48848 | 2020-06-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some 2020 Escape vehicles built on or after 10-Jan-2020, equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with only diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04DB in the powertrain control module (PCM). If this DTC is retrieved with other DTCs, diagnose those first. Engineering data has confirmed that DTC P04DB is typically a green engine and/or low mileage concern that will not repeat if a crankcase ventilation system concern is not present. Inspect the crankcase ventilation tube at the rear air intake system connection for a partial disconnect. If the crankcase ventilation tube is not disconnected and no concern is identified after performing Powertrain Control and Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual pinpoint test HG, clear the DTC using the appropriate Ford scan tool and return the vehicle to the customer. |
| SSM 48833 | 2020-06-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit a symptom of no ability to schedule a remote start event using the FordPass or Lincolnway app. If only the scheduling portion of the remote start system is not functioning, please ensure that the latest level of SYNC software has been installed. If the remote start system is not functioning using the key fob and/or the on-demand remote start function from FordPass or Lincolnway application, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-06 for further diagnosis. |
| SSM 48831 | 2020-06-04. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some 2020 Escape/Corsair vehicles may exhibit a lack of power steering assist with DTC U3000 in the PSCM. This DTC is set when a battery charger is installed on the vehicle and the ignition is cycled on. For vehicles that set this DTC due to the use of a battery charger, the DTC can be cleared and power steering assist restored without replacement of the PSCM. To clear this DTC using the FDRS scan tool, select and run the PSCM - Reset the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) application. Once cleared, cycle the ignition to reinitialize the module. It is not recommended that a battery charger is installed and running on the vehicle when the ignition is cycled on. |
| SSM 48791 | 2020-06-04. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Some 2020 Escape/Aviator/Explorer Hybrid vehicles and 2020 Explorer/Aviator vehicles equipped with a 3.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit slow fuel fill, premature shut off, and/or spit back during refueling. This may be due to the interface between the fuel nozzle and the fuel tank filler pipe. When refueling, advise customers to make sure to rotate the fuel nozzle 30 degrees in either direction, retract the fuel nozzle slightly within the capless filler inlet, and/or use a different refueling pump. Engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition, which is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2020. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. |
| 20B14 | 2020-05-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. In some of the affected vehicles, the customer may experience limited powertrain acceleration and speed along with a Stop Safely Now message and a check engine light displayed in the instrument cluster. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0340 and P1A0C may be present in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This is due to crankshaft and camshaft signal quality during start up, resulting in incorrect synchronization and the inability of the engine to produce the requested torque. |
| SSM 48579 | 2020-03-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN. Some 2018-2020 vehicles equipped with the 8F24, 8F35, 8F40, or 8F57 transmissions may have a trace amount of transmission fluid in the main control electrical connector. This is due to the connector being submerged in transmission fluid during the main control manufacturing process. A trace amount should be considered normal and will not affect the function of the transmission. Do not attempt a repair for this condition. If more than a trace amount of fluid is found, follow normal diagnostics in the Workshop Manual(WSM), Section 307-01>Diagnosis and Testing>Leakage Inspection. |
| 20B01 | 2020-02-05. Service bulletin. STEERING. In some of the affected vehicles, the power steering control module (PSCM) may exhibit a fault resulting in a lack of power steering assistance at start up. A steering assist fault message may also be displayed in the message center. A lack of power steering assistance may result in higher effort steering the vehicle. |
