Service bulletins for the 2018 Buick LaCrosse

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

PIP5725A2021-04-19. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. This Preliminary information communicates the use of Winter grade fuel during the warm months of 2020 and the potential rivability issues that it can cause. The ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused significant reductions in driving and fuel use. Due to the surplus of winter grade fuel sitting in storage (pipelines/stations) the EPA is waiving the fuel vapor requirement. This will extend the use of winter fuel into the summer months. The drivability concerns should not be single events but should be multiple occurrences associated with hot days.

17-NA-3312021-04-15. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Rear View Camera Guidelines Not Present at Times Condition Some customers may report that the Rear View Camera (RVC) guidelines are temporarily not available at times but the RVC will remain on during the concern. Additionally, no related DTCs will be found if this bulletin applies. One example of when this concern may be observed is if a customer quickly starts the car and immediately places the shifter in Reverse while the infotainment system is still in the initial boot up process. Cause This is a result of the RVC image being provided via an alternate robust RVC feed from the Video Bypass Module (NGI systems) or from the radio (BYOM2 and Info 3.0 systems). This alternate robust RVC feed is provided in the event that the primary RVC feed is not available for any reason just to ensure that the RVC image is always present when in reverse. Correction If this concern is experienced and no related codes are present, DO NOT replace any parts as it is normal for the RVC guidelines not to be present when the RVC image being displayed is from the alternate robust RVC feed. If this occurs after quickly starting the vehicle and immediately placing the shifter in Drive, the RVC guidelines can be displayed again in most cases if they are really needed by safely coming to a stop, placing the transmission in Park for a moment, and then shifting to Reverse again.
17-NA-3372021-04-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. All or Some Options May Be Missing from Driver Information Center (DIC) “Info Pages” Menu Due to Them Not Being Selected Condition Some customers may comment that with the “Info” option selected from the main menu (1), the “Info Pages” are blank (2) when scrolling up and down. If information is present when scrolling up and down, they may also comment that certain items are missing when compared to other like vehicles Cause This condition may be caused when all/some of the options not being selected in the “active info pages” menu. Correction If this concern is encountered, determine if all/any of the selections in the “active info pages” menu are not selected. To do this, follow the steps listed below.

Fastener not being torqued to proper specification.
17-NA-3292021-04-15. Service bulletin. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL:SOFTWARE; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: RADAR. Forward Collision Alert Inoperative, Unwanted Application of Emergency Brakes and/or Adaptive Cruise Control Drops Out Condition Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions: • Forward Collision Alert (red light and alarm) is late or does not come occur. • Vehicle applies emergency brakes with no vehicle in front in areas with overhead structures. • Adaptive Cruise control drops out in barren landscape areas. Adaptive Cruise Control Temporarily Unavailable message appears in the IP. Cause This condition may be due to one of the following: • Software occasionally takes longer than normal to identify a potential collision situation. • Radar reflections look like an actual vehicle causing a brief activation of brakes. • Radar does not see enough reflections so it assumes it is blocked and goes offline. Correction An updated software calibration has been released to address these conditions. A learn procedure (“service alignment” or “service calibration”) is not required.
17-NA-3262021-04-15. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC:PADS; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:PADS. Rear Brake Squeak Type Noise Involved Region or Country North America and N.A. Export Regions Condition Some customers may comment on a squeak type noise heard from the rear brakes when cold. 16-NA-4072021-04-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Information on Chassis Control Module (CCM) Receives Invalid Data and Sets DTC U0422 The Technician may find DTCs U0422 set. The Technician may also find the following DTCs set. • U1534 • U1538 Information Based on analysis with the BCM team, during vehicle startup (on occasion) the PEPS module arbitration along with high bus traffic leads to the BCM setting the door open switch virtual device availability (VDA) to unavailable. The BCM does not update the VDA back to Available until the door switch changes state (this signal is event based as opposed to periodic). The ICCM sets the U0422 DTC after 1 second of either the door ajar VDA or door open VDA being unavailable. Correction Ignore CCM U0422 DTC (no service necessary) unless it is a current/active code or is accompanied by associated BCM faults U1534 or U1538.
