Service bulletins for the 2017 Buick LaCrosse
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Condition Certain 2017 model year Buick LaCrosse vehicles may have a condition in which the inner front-of-dash seal for the steering shaft may not be properly installed. If this condition is present water could accumulate inside the lower steering boot and, over time, cause corrosion of the intermediate and pinion steering shafts. This corrosion could damage the pinion seal, allowing water to reach the torque sensor. Correction Inspect the inner intermediate steering shaft boot, and replace if necessary |
| 17409 | 2021-04-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT. Certain 2017 model year Buick LaCrosse or GMC Acadia vehicles, that have had an engine replacement may have the wrong torque applied to front cradle-to-body bolts (M14) and front cradle stabilizer brackets-to-body bolts (M10). The Engine Replacement Service Procedure in the vehicle Service Information instructs technicians to use improper torque values when reattaching the cradle. Correction Replace bolts (M14 and M10), verify cradle alignment and apply the correct torque to attaching bolts. |

This PI offers diagnostic tips to a technician when diagnosing a possible fuel level sensor concern. The tech is advised to ohm test the sensor at the terminals located on top of the fuel module while performing a sweep test. If the test fails the technician is instructed to replace the sensor and then perform the sweep test again. If the test passes the technician is instructed to reinstall the fuel module in the tank and if the test fails with the new sensor the technician is advised to replace the fuel module. |

This Preliminary information communicates to the technician the need to inspect the induction system for potential icing issues in very cold ambient temperatures. To allow the ice to melt so that it can be drained from the related components. That any of the listed DTC's may set with or without poor engine performance. |
| PIP5725A | 2021-04-19. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. This Preliminary information communicates the use of Winter grade fuel during the warm months of 2020 and the potential rivability issues that it can cause. The ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused significant reductions in driving and fuel use. Due to the surplus of winter grade fuel sitting in storage (pipelines/stations) the EPA is waiving the fuel vapor requirement. This will extend the use of winter fuel into the summer months. The drivability concerns should not be single events but should be multiple occurrences associated with hot days. |
| PIP5730B | 2021-04-19. Service bulletin. INTERIOR LIGHTING; ENGINE. This Preliminary information communicates additional diagnostic information for DTC's P0016 and P0018. |

Adaptive Cruise Control Temporarily Unavailable message appears in the IP. Cause This condition may be due to one of the following: • Software occasionally takes longer than normal to identify a potential collision situation. • Radar reflections look like an actual vehicle causing a brief activation of brakes. • Radar does not see enough reflections so it assumes it is blocked and goes offline. Correction An updated software calibration has been released to address these conditions. A learn procedure (“service alignment” or “service calibration”) is not required. |

| 16-NA-407 | 2021-04-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Information on Chassis Control Module (CCM) Receives Invalid Data and Sets DTC U0422 The Technician may find DTCs U0422 set. The Technician may also find the following DTCs set. • U1534 • U1538 Information Based on analysis with the BCM team, during vehicle startup (on occasion) the PEPS module arbitration along with high bus traffic leads to the BCM setting the door open switch virtual device availability (VDA) to unavailable. The BCM does not update the VDA back to Available until the door switch changes state (this signal is event based as opposed to periodic). The ICCM sets the U0422 DTC after 1 second of either the door ajar VDA or door open VDA being unavailable. Correction Ignore CCM U0422 DTC (no service necessary) unless it is a current/active code or is accompanied by associated BCM faults U1534 or U1538. |

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated - DTC P3409 and/or P3433 Condition Some customers may comment that the MIL is illuminated. The technician may find one or more of the following DTCs set: • P3409 • P3433 Cause This condition may be caused by a wiring issue with both/either the cylinder 2 deactivation solenoid oil control valve circuit and/or the cylinder 5 deactivation solenoid oil control valve circuit. These codes may be active or stored in history. • This may also be a repeat concern. Correction Note: When replacing the solenoids, ensure there are no terminal issues at the connector. To correct this condition, refer to the information below: • If vehicle was built between 4/13/2017 and 8/7/2017, it will be necessary to replace both right and left bank Cylinder Deactivation Solenoids (AFM OCV). • If vehicle was built outside the date range, check for any terminal issues at the connector. If no trouble found, follow SI diagnostics for the applicable DTC. |
