Service bulletins for the 2017 BMW F 800 R
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| MC1100116 | 2018-12-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:HOSES/LINES/PIPING/FITTINGS; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Coolant pump drain hose. Details The coolant pump is fitted with a radial shaft seal on the oil-side and on the coolant-side is a mechanical seal. Mechanical seals are reliable an durable, yet for technical reasons, they always exhibit minor seepage. The seepage amount is considered to be within permissible limits if the coolant does not need to be topped up between service intervals. The drain hole (arrow in the figure) of the coolant pump is in plain view. Even small, inevitable seepage is noticed and often perceived to be a faulty coolant pump. In many such cases, fault-free coolant pumps are replaced. In order to reduce misdiagnosis and repeat repairs, a drain hose is retrofitted. The hose diverts the seepage away from the field of view to under the engine. Yet large amounts of leakage that indicate a faulty coolant pump will be noticed. |
| B000117 | 2018-12-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. ?SI B00 01 17 General Maintenance and Hints for G30 QUALITY FEEDBACK |

| B111117 | 2018-12-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE. ?ENGINE LEAK DIAGNOSIS ON TURBOCHARGED V8 ENGINES. When diagnosing an engine oil leak or a coolant leak on turbocharged V8 engines it is necessary to use a borescope to identify if the source of the leak is from under the turbochargers. Engine oil or coolant leaking from the bell housing area or the front timing chain cover area may be caused by the turbocharger itself, a turbocharger oil/coolant feed line or turbocharger oil/coolant return line. Do not remove the transmission and do not dissemble the engine before performing this inspection. If necessary, use engine oil leakage detection dye. |
| B720417 | 2018-11-26. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; SEAT BELTS. FALSE WARNINGS THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED WITHOUT THE SEAT BELT BUCKLED. Acoustic and visual warnings indicate that the front passenger seat is occupied and the seat belt is not fastened, when the seat is actually unoccupied. If the situation is currently present, sit in the seat and move the seat to a different position then the POL (Passenger Occupancy Light) light will function correctly. In some cases the Air bag Warning Light was illuminated. Advanced Crash Safety Module (ACSM) fault "930A1C - Front passenger seat occupancy detection transmitting fault (moisture)" is stored. 1. Electronics (for example smart phones or laptops) are connected to the USB charging port or cigarette lighter and placed on the seat. 2. The seat was wet (e.g. very high humidity, spilled liquids or rain). 3. Faulty plug connection to Evaluation Electronics CIS (Capacitive Interior Sensing). 4. Excessive spacing between seat mat sensor signal wires and their grounding shield sleeve. * Drying the seat mat due to moisture. * If there is no moisture, secure loose cables and install 2 cable ties * If the 2 cables ties are already installed properly, replace the seat mat * Statement added to SI - do not replace the CIS electronics or the ACSM module for this siutation. |
