Service bulletins for the 2016 Audi A6
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A641433 2029714- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 64 number 12-22 dated July 5, 2012. After one or both of the front door control units (J386/J387) is replaced, one or both of the rear door control units (J3888/J389) cannot be coded or parameterized via an SVM specified vs. actual comparison (spec/actual). The parameter data in the software coding container has changed for the front and rear door control units. As a result, an SVM code is required to update the parameter data for any replacement control unit. Simply running an SVM spec/actual will not code nor update the parameter data in the new replacement control unit. A hardware change suggestion will be provided when an SVM spec/actual is executed. An additional hardware replacement is not required. |
| A911437 2030947- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-92 dated July 16, 2013. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone receives the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call because it assumes that the phone is not responding. |
| A911599 2040393- | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 15-95 dated April 14, 2015. MMI tutorial videos cannot be played or stop playing Turning the ignition off and back on may correct the condition. Two of the tutorial videos for the 2016 A6 and A7 are not correct. When the user attempts to play these videos a cascading effect can occur, causing all other videos to cease playing after some time. The incorrect video files are ?Radio / Tuner? and ?Media & Jukebox Functions?. |
| A911598 2018187- | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-50 dated July 10, 2014. Customer may report that cracking, grinding, rattling, humming, whining, or similar interference is coming from one or more speakers. Parts of the speakers (such as the brackets, cables, or covers) or parts of the interior fittings (such as door covers, rear shelf, facings, or covers) can vibrate at certain frequencies, causing noises. The radio tuner or other control modules may be affected by electromagnetic interference from aftermarket electronic devices. |
| A911596 2040843- | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. MIB MMI: Traffic incidents are not prioritized by proximity to vehicle. Starting with the MIB MMI in model year 2015 A3 vehicles and with the MIB-2 MMI in model year 2016 A6 and A7 vehicles, the traffic incident list display has changed. By default, traffic incidents are now listed first by roads with high priority, and second by alphabetical order (or numerical order) based on the name of the road. Roads that have higher speeds (interstates and major highways) are given highest priority. If a route is programmed into the navigation system, the MIB MMI will display traffic incidents that affect the programmed route near the top of the list. If no route is programmed, the default sorting applies. |
| A911595 2040926- | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. The navigation map update database 8R0051884CJ cannot be activated using Software Version Management. |
| A911591 2040939- | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Facebook not available through Audi connect. Audi of America has been informed that beginning June 1, 2015, Facebook will discontinue access to user newsfeeds and private messages through various applications, including OEM-embedded, in-vehicle apps. As a result, Facebook will no longer be a part of the Audi connect service portfolio. |
| A911593 2037087- | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-39 dated April 24, 2014. The option to send new text messages cannot be accessed through the Messages function in the MIB MMI telephone menu. Additionally, the option to send text messages using ?New? is greyed-out in the Messages menu. Received text messages cannot be displayed. The MIB High system is the first Audi MMI system that supports the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP). Some mobile phones do not have the complete set of MAP features and functions implemented in their operating systems, which affects the available options in the MMI system. For model year 2016 A6 and A7 vehicles with the MIB2 MMI system, the MMI will automatically attempt to connect to MAP when the phone is first paired to Bluetooth. If the phone does not allow the MMI to access the phone?s text messages (MAP), then it will not be possible to manually force the MMI to make this connection (although it was possible with the MIB1 system). Instead, the customer will need to activate this feature on the phone after the pairing process, then disconnect and reconnect the Bluetooth connection to the MMI. |
| A011525 2040962- | 2017-10-25. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. The MIL is on. DTC P20E800 is stored in the ECM. No relevant component or electrical problems are found when Guided Fault Finding (GFF) is run on the stored fault codes. Software update is needed. |
| A941560 2017806- | 2017-10-25. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 14-32 dated January 23, 2014. The light bulb warning light is displayed in the instrument cluster with the following message: "Vehicle lights: malfunction". DTCs are stored in the vehicle electrical system control module. Exterior lights are functioning properly. |
| A911633 2037809- | 2017-10-25. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. The navigation map does not show the latest roads or points of interest. The map download provided by the myAudi website cannot be performed. The customer does not know how to obtain the data or cannot perform the update after downloading the data. The MMI is slow to respond or freezes during the map update. For vehicles with MIB2, the MMI over-the-air map update does not allow for a full map update and shows greyed-out regions. The customer is concerned that the OTA map update will consume too much data from the Audi connect data subscription. |
| A911632 2043595- | 2017-10-25. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. The customer complains that the display on the MMI screen is incomplete and text is missing. Additionally, the cluster DIS text may be using an incorrect menu language. The RMC manin unit is designed to support French, Spanish, and English languages. The control unit software has an issue that can cause th esystem language to default to German. The conditions occurs because German is not contained in the software. |
| A971548 2013504- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 97 number 10-15 dated October 20, 2010. Sporadic fault memory entries are stored in various control modules. Contacts may be widened (over 0.63 mm) if incorrect pins or incorrect methods for current flow tests are used. Either action may cause intermittent electrical connections, which can cause sporadic DTCs to be stored in various control modules. |
| A941564 2017806- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 15-60 dated February 12, 2015. The light bulb warning light is displayed in the instrument cluster with the following message: "Vehicle lights: malfunction". DTCs are stored in the vehicle electrical system control module. Exterior lights are functioning properly. |
| A911579 2038824- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-69 dated November 4, 2014. The following message appears on the MMI display: "Device or cable type not supported". The AMI cable being used is a genuine Audi-branded cable with an Audi part number (see Required Parts and Tools for a list of valid part numbers). The "Device or cable type not supported" message may be displayed when an incorrect AMI cable type is connected to the MMI system. Only cables with an Audi part number (i.e., 4F0.XXX.XXX) are supported by the MMI system. Volkswagen-branded cables look similar, but are not guaranteed to work with Audi MMI systems. The label on the end of an Audi-branded cable has an Audi logo and Audi part number. Audi-branded cables have unique firmware inside the hardware that can determine which MMI system and iOS device are connected to the cable. Volkswagen cables do not have this firmware. The firmware is required to allow the system to function normally due to the different technology available in the different MMI systems and in the different iPhones and iPod Touch devices. In addition, the AMI system was designed to play the music stored locally on the connected device only. Music streaming (from Spotify or Pandora, for example) is not supported, and music stored in the cloud (on Google Play, Amazon Prime, or iTunes Match/iCloud, for example) may drop out, pause, and skip when played. |
| A911701 2044670- | 2017-10-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. This technical service bulletin provides instructions for a software update to correct an issue with dropped calls in RMC MMI systems. |

Effective immediately, the codes for the STP4 (2.0L TDI) and STP5 (3.0L TDI) actions will show the campaign code 23Q4 (2.0L TDI) and 23R8 (3.0L TDI) only on the Inventory Vehicle Open Campaign/Action Report. Elsa and ServiceNet will continue to display them as STP4 (2.0L TDI) and STP5 (3.0L TDI). |
| A961605 2043428- | 2017-10-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Side assist inoperative or warning about sensor vision. Audi side assist (lane change assist) does not work. A warning about sensor vision appears in the driver information system. DTCs B200000, C111504, C1114F3, or C1115F5 may be stored in the lane change assistance control module. Defective internal control unit component. Production Solution is improved hardware. |
| A961604 2042811- | 2017-10-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Audi connect Gen1 and Gen2 systems: Differences and troubleshooting. The customer has a general concern related to Audi connect. Different features are included with different generations of the Audi connect system. The Audi connect Gen1 system includes all vehicles that utilize a removable plastic SIM card. The Audi connect Gen2 system includes all vehicles that utilize an embedded SIM card. The root cause of all complaints cannot be attributed to the vehicle hardware because of the backend server configurations that need to be correct in order for Audi connect to work. For most sporadic complaints, the issue typically resides with the MBB backend server or with the source data provider (Google, INRIX, etc.), and not with the vehicle. In rare cases, the mobile network operator (AT&T, T-Mobile) can be the cause of the complaint. For most static complaints, the issue can be attributed to the user account subscription or possibly the vehicle hardware. |
