Service bulletins for the 2016 Porsche Cayenne

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

558 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

122-J8L7U-032018-03-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Customer Concern: The customer observes a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). (Note: Typically, this MIL is the only symptom of this issue.) Technical Concern: The technician confirms the MIL and notes P0C4700 is present in the high-voltage battery. Service Information: New guided fault finding appears in PIWIS tester version 37.000 and higher. Please follow the instructions given in this resource before proceeding with the information in this ATI.
122-T8H2H-012018-01-29. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS. Technical Concern: The tail light produces a warning in the instrument cluster indicating that the tail light is no working. Also one or more fault codes (880F0E or 880F1E) are observed in the Rear-End Electronics module using the PIWIS Tester. However, the tail light may be working.
122-T7Y5Q-122017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Information: This document updates information previously published in EQ 1105, EQ 1105, and EQ 1401. To provide stable voltage and sufficient current throughout certain service operations, you should connect the vehicle to a battery charger (sometimes referred to as a power supply). However, you may experience ECU programming and coding issues if the chosen battery charger has insufficient power. Many workshop manuals currently advise use of a battery charger with a 40 or 70 A current rating. However, with the increasing current requirements of modern Porsche vehicles, we recommend a battery charger capable of producing a minimum current of 90 A.
122-S9X3M-122017-12-14. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Situation: Cayenne Diesel vehicles were equipped with undisclosed Auxiliary Emission Control Devices which are not permitted by emissions regulations. Action Required: Install updated engine control module (DME) software and transmission control module (Tiptronic) software to bring affected vehicles into regulatory compliance.
122-Z6W8C-072017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Subject: Discharge protection function of the batterymanagement system(BMS) in order to extend the service life of high-voltage and low-voltage batteries
122-Y6R5S-072017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Concerns: AGM starter battery (referred to below simply as 'battery') Situation: Support for the care andmaintenance of the AGMstarter battery (at the dealership): From the time the vehicle is delivered to the Porsche Centre until it is handed over to the customer, the battery must be maintained and charged regularly, depending on use.
122-S5L3F-072017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Concerns: AGM starter battery (referred to below simply as ?battery?) Information: Customer complaints concerning battery-related topics Recurring customer complaints concerning topics relating to battery capacity and quality.
122-E3D6M-122017-10-25. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Due to incorrect sealing of the electric plug connection on the transfer case servo motor, moisture can get into the connector. As a result, the contacts can become corroded. In the event of a customer complaint, check the plug connection on the servo motor and the servo motor itself for damage: ? If the electric plug connection on the transfer case servo motor is corroded, replace section of cable including electric plug connection using a repair kit. ? If the servo motor is damaged, replace section of cable including electric plug connection and transfer case servo motor.
122-T5Z7V-082017-10-25. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Technical Concern: The technician confirms the MIL and notes P0C4700 is present in the high voltage battery.
122-S7R6B-112017-10-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. The customer observes a MIL. (Please note: Often, this failure mode is not accompanied by other unwanted behavior.) The technician confirms the MIL and notes P0C4700 is present in the high voltage battery. PCNA is aware of this issue. A bad ground has been found in a number of cases. The service recommendation is to check ground continuity and replace the electric water pump and the electric water pump relay, if necessary.
122-Q3V5G-102017-10-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Cause: Clicking noises can come from around the transfer case when manoeuvring the vehicle (or driving slowly) due to activation of the transfer case servo motor. Remedial Action: Before doing any other work, the symptommust be simulated using a test procedure. (Opening the door windows can be helpful when evaluating noises). 1 Conditions for the first test procedure: ? Activate the Start/Stop function and ? deactivate all sources of noise in the vehicle (Entertainment, ventilation, etc.). ? A multi-story parking garage can be useful for acoustic reverberation. ? Onastraight stretch ? fromspeeds less than 10mph (20 km/h) ? brake the vehicle to a standstill. ? The best way of finding the clicking noise is by driving slowly and then stopping the vehicle.
122-A3L7Z-102017-10-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Technical Concern: The technician confirms the MIL and notes P0C4700 is present in the high-voltage battery. Service Information: In many cases, technicians noted one or more of the following root causes: a) Corrosion on Ground Pin 6B (See figures 1 and 2.) b) Corrosion on the connector to the secondary low temperature coolant pump. c) A bad ground or otherwise unsound wiring.
