Service bulletins for the 2020 Mazda Mazda3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

09-017-22a2022-07-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles may have rust on the contact parts between the clips (for attaching the roof molding) and the roof panel (ditches of the roof rail). This is caused by the gap between the roof molding attachment clips and the roof panel not being wide enough to allow paint to be appropriately applied to the roof panel. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the roof molding clip has been changed to enable paint application between the clip's rib and roof during the manufacturing process.
SA-043-222022-07-06. Service bulletin. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. FSC dynamic aiming (mid-drive aiming) may not complete if the vehicle is driven on a road as described below: - The road lane markings are covered by snow and are not visible. - There are no road lane markings on the road surface. - The road is winding and the vehicle cannot drive straight (300 m / 984 ft or more turning radius is required). FSC dynamic aiming is completed if the following conditions are met: 1. "Forward Sensing Camera Calibration Mode" message (1) on instrument cluster MID disappears. 2. The i-ACTIVSENSE warning light (2) turns off. 3. Steps 1 and 2 are completed within 20 minutes from start of aiming.

Confirm the customer's phone and vehicle have good to strong reception during the concern as shown in the table below. **If the reception is weak, move the vehicle to a location where the reception is good to strong as shown in the table, then try to get the Authorization Code and/or operate the remote functions before proceeding to the Repair Procedure if there is still an issue. **If the reception is good to strong, proceed to the Repair Procedure.
09-017-222022-05-05.
09-014-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles may exhibit that the glass run channel of the front door interferes with the rear door garnish. Since the front door glass run channel is not fixed to the door strongly enough for the following situations, cycles of door operation may result in interference and lead to damage on the seal rubber at the rear door. *When the front door glass is closed, the glass run channel may be forced to move to the B pillar side. *In very hot climates, the glass run channel may expand to the B pillar side. To eliminate this concern, the following 2 phases have been started as a running change: *Phase 1 **Adhesive has been added between the front door glass run channel and the door panel. *Phase 2 **The shape of the front door glass run channel has been changed so as not to make contact with the rear garnish. **The shape of the clip at the rear side of the front door glass run channel has been changed for stronger fixing and the hole at the door panel has been changed accordingly.
09-013-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE. Some customers may complain that the clip on the rear end of the rear beltline molding is loose and the molding is slightly lifted up. Due to the poor shape of the clip claws, the fitting force to the door body may decrease while in use. To eliminate this concern, the clip has been enlarged in the horizontal direction to improve the fitting force against the door body.
09-012-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; SEATS. At PDI or when new vehicle is delivered, some customers may complain about wrinkles on the leather seat cushion and/or seat back surface. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired by a qualified upholstery repair specialist using the following repair procedure.
SA-026-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Apple CarPlay / Android Auto Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
SA-020-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may complain about the following symptoms occurring when driving without anything ahead (no metallic object reflects the radar wave such as a vehicle ahead, an oncoming vehicle, a road sign or a guard rail). *While using Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC), the MRCC cancels by itself. NOTE: The customer may misinterpret MRCC cancellation as unintended braking. MRCC cancellation feels the same as the steering wheel cancel button being pressed or the brake pedal being tapped. *When MRCC is not in use, "Safety and Driver Support Systems Temporarily Disabled. Front Radar Obscured." message appears in the instrument cluster / "Remove dirt on the front radar sensor" message appears in the center display and related i-ACTIVSENSE functions stop working. This is caused by the front radar (under specific road conditions) detecting a false error as if the radar sensor is dirty, resulting in cancellation of the MRCC. (no metallic object reflects the radar wave such as a vehicle ahead, an oncoming vehicle, a road sign or a guard rail).

SA-006-22a2022-04-06. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL; POWER TRAIN; WHEELS. There have been warranty claims submitted for growling or bearing whine noise in differentials, transfer units and transmissions where the source of the noise was a wheel bearing. This misdiagnosis can lead to multiple repair attempts, warranty debits, and additional inconvenience and/or cost to the customer. To reduce the chance of this occurring, please follow the steps outlined in the repair procedure.
09-008/222022-04-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit water leaking into the passenger compartment from the rear door through the bottom of the service hole behind the rear door trim during rain or when washing the vehicle. This is caused by one of the following: *Since the material of the seal rubber is not resistant to surfactants, the rubber deteriorates when the vehicle is washed and allows water to penetrate into the seal rubber of the service hole cover. *The lower tabs of the service hole cover may not have been completely engaged at the factory. To eliminate this concern, the seal material of the service-hole cover has been changed (Japan built Mazda3) and a mass production change will be implemented in the future (Mexico built Mazda3 and CX-30).
09-006/222022-04-05. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; EQUIPMENT; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP. Some customers may experience that after the doors are locked and the Fuel Door Lock Delay with MAZDA CONNECT has passed (default setting is 90 seconds), the fuel-filler lid does not lock and can be opened when pressing it. NOTE: *The fuel-filler lid does not lock immediately after the doors are locked, but after the time set in the Fuel Door Lock Delay (0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 seconds). *Although the root cause has not been identified, the vehicle should be repaired by adjusting the fuel-filler lid opener cable position when there is a customer complaint.

Some vehicles may exhibit that the air bag warning light turns on or repeats cycles of turning on and off with DTC B1126:13 and/or B1127:13 stored in memory. *B1126:13 - Driver-side side air bag module circuit open circuit or resistance high *B1127:13 - Passenger-side side air bag module circuit open circuit or resistance high This issue is caused by one or both of the following: *When the driver or passenger moves, a load is applied to the seat back and the load may cause displacement of the mating terminals in the side air bag module connector, resulting in insufficient contact and higher resistance. *The DTC detection level is too sensitive. To eliminate these concerns: *A modification of the harness is being developed. *The DTC detection level of the SAS control module has been optimized.
01-003/222022-04-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The Mazda DCA-8000 is required for all warranty battery testing.
