Service bulletins for the 2014 Mazda Mazda3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

882 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

05-002-232023-06-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some vehicles may experience the check engine light and automatic transaxle warning light ON with one or more of these DTCs stored in the TCM memory (P0842, P0847, P0872, P0877, P0780, P1738).
SA-038-222022-07-06. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); POWER TRAIN; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE. Service part Automatic Transaxles (ATX) manufactured on or after July, 2018 are shipped with a blank TCM that requires configuration.
05002152022-06-06. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Check Engine light and A/T Warning light on with one or more of these DTS (P0842, P0847, P0872, P0877, P0780, P1738) Stored in TCM Memory
01-008-19-3568a2019-04-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some customer using “Flexible” setting for Oil Change in the maintenance monitor may notice that the oil change due notification will not work due to improper control logic of the PCM. The PCM clears the TRAVELED DISTANCE at the wrong time while the ELAPSED DAYS and the DETERIORATION DETERMINATION work as designed. To correct this issue, the control logic of the PCM has been changed.
01-008-19-35682019-03-11. Service bulletin. ENGINE; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some customer using "Flexible" setting for Oil Change in the maintenance monitor may notice that the oil change due notification will not work due to improper control logic of the PCM. The PCM clears the TRAVELED DISTANCE at the wrong time while the ELAPSED DAYS and the DETERIORATION DETERMINATION work as designed. To correct this issue, the control logic of the PCM has been changed.
MT-014-172017-08-10. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Whenever you are reprogramming a PCM or any other module, always use the GR8 Battery Charger in the Power Supply mode to prevent the battery from discharging.
SA-060-172017-08-10. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ENGINE. Some 2012-2016 Mazda3s, 2013-2015 CX-5s and 2014-2015 Mazda6s may experience the Check Engine Light ON with DTC P0101 and/or P061B and/or driveability problem after reprogramming the PCM using IDS versions 105.02 to 105.04. If the PCM is reprogrammed with any software number included in the attached file and the throttle valve has too much carbon build up, the engine air amount calculation by the problem software may not be accurate. Perform the following Repair Procedure to correct this issue. NOTE Current version of IDS is 106.02.
01-016-15-30672017-06-07. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; ENGINE; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). SOME VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON WITH DTC P0421:00 (CATALYTIC CONVERTER SYSTEM) WITHOUT EXPERIENCING POOR ENGINE PERFORMANCE OR MISFIRE (MITSUBISHI PCM ONLY). THIS IS CAUSED BY IMPROPER CONTROL LOGIC OF THE PCM THAT MAY DETECT FALSE ERROR OF THE A/F SENSOR, RESULTING IN FALSE DETECTION OF P0421. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE CONTROL LOGIC OF THE PCM HAS BEEN CHANGED. CATALYST MONITOR FUNCTION EXPLANATION • THE PCM MONITORS THE OXYGEN STORAGE AMOUNT PROPORTIONAL TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER PURIFICATION CHARACTERISTIC. • THE PCM STARTS TO MONITOR AFTER RECOVERY (FUEL INJECTION STARTS) FROM FUEL CUT CONTROL. • THE PCM TEMPORARILY CHANGES THE TARGET AIR/FUEL RATIO TO RICH AT FUEL CUT RECOVERY, AND DETECTS THE RESPONSE TIME UNTIL THE HO2S OUTPUT SIGNAL OUTPUTS THE VOLTAGE ON THE RICH SIDE. • IF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER PURIFICATION CHARACTERISTIC DETERIORATES, THE AMOUNT OF THE TIME UNTIL THE HO2S DETECTS THE VOLTAGE ON THE RICH SIDE IS SHORTER COMPARED TO THE NORMAL PURIFICATION CHARACTERISTIC AS SHOWN. THE PCM DETECTS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER MALFUNCTION USING THIS CHARACTERISTIC.
01-011-15-30512017-05-17. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). SOME VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE A LACK OF POWER DURING HARD ACCELERATION (APPROX. 6,000 RPM) IN COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS BELOW 32 °F (0 °C). DTCS P0300:00, P0301:00 AND/OR P0302:00 ARE STORED IN MEMORY. • P0300:00: RANDOM MISFIRE DETECTED • P0301:00: CYLINDER NO. 1 MISFIRE DETECTED • P0302:00: CYLINDER NO. 2 MISFIRE DETECTED THIS IS CAUSED BY IMPROPER CONTROL LOGIC OF THE PCM. THE PCM MAY DETECT A FALSE MISFIRE UNDER THE SUBJECT CONDITIONS AND MAY FALL INTO FAIL SAFE MODE. TO ELIMINATE THIS CONCERN, THE PCM CONTROL LOGIC HAS BEEN CHANGED.
