Service bulletins for the 2018 Mazda CX-5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 06-001-23a | 2023-05-03. Service bulletin. STEERING. Some vehicles may exhibit wear/peel-off of the leather steering wheel surface causing a poor appearance. This concern may be caused by an insufficient wear resistance of the steering wheel surface. |
|---|---|
| 01-006-23 | 2023-05-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may exhibit oil seepage or oil leak onto the engine front cover, which becomes more apparent with dust adhesion. |
| SA-012-23 | 2023-04-04. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM; VISIBILITY. Some customers may report an odor or water in the HVAC system and upon inspection, the cabin air filter may be found to be wet. |
| SA-016-23 | 2023-04-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. There are currently 2 methods for cutting a new auxiliary key blank. A. Auxiliary Key Trace Cut Method. B. Auxiliary Key Code Cut Method |
| SA-010-23 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; VISIBILITY; EXTERIOR LIGHTING; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience one or more electrical malfunctions after a vehicle body repair. The newly painted fender stay (2) may be causing a poor front harness (1) ground connection. |
| SA-007-23 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. The rear differential case could develop a crack in the case. NOTE: This could affect new vehicles just delivered to the dealer as well as customer vehicles. This concern is caused when the sliding bearing (1) in the coupling (2) is seized and causes the coupling component to fit loosely. The pinion shaft head (3) then contacts the differential case and causes a crack. |
| 07-002-23 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Some customers may complain that the ambient temperature on the instrument cluster is displayed more than 50 °F (10°C) lower than the actual temperature, resulting in insufficient performance of the air conditioning. This is caused by inappropriate soldering in the ambient temperature sensor. To eliminate this concern, the soldering process has been enhanced since December 2021 at the supplier. |
| 09-016-23 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:INSTRUMENT PANEL:SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER. Speedometer replacement procedure |
| 08-002-23 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; AIR BAGS; AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION:STATUS INDICATOR LAMP/LIGHT. Some customers may experience the airbag warning light ON with DTC B00A0:09 stored in the SAS control module memory when the battery voltage is low. DTC B00A0:09 (Occupant classification sensor internal signal output unstable). This concern is caused by the low voltage detection time of the occupant classification sensor (OCS) being too short during cranking, which causes detection of the DTC unnecessarily. The concern occurs more often in colder weather when greater electric current is consumed to start the vehicle. To eliminate this concern, the OCS has been modified to avoid unnecessary DTC detection. NOTE: Even if the voltage is recovered after the engine is started, the airbag warning light stays ON during the drive cycle. When the battery voltage becomes stable after the engine is started, the airbag system will operate normally. |
| 08-001-23 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. SEAT BELTS; SEAT BELTS:STATUS INDICATOR SWITCH; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; SEATS. Some vehicles may turn on the passenger seatbelt reminder, even though there is no passenger seated in the vehicle. This concern may be caused by the passenger sensor being too sensitive. To eliminate this concern, the passenger sensor has been modified. |
| 04-001-23a | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Front Brake Noise Symptom 1: Some vehicles may exhibit a click noise when first moving forward or reverse from a stop OR when first applying the brakes while moving forward at slow speeds. This is caused by deteriorated grease between the brake pads and the shim, the front brake pads move upward/downward along with the brake rotors during brake application. When the vehicle moves or the brakes are applied the next time, the front brake pads move to the other side, which causes a click noise. Front Brake Noise Symptom 2: Some vehicles may exhibit the brakes having an unusual noise or vibration when applying the brake. This is caused by rust on the brake disk plate’s surface. Rear Brake Noise Symptom 1: Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the rear brakes while braking lightly and occurs more frequently when driving at slow speeds. The noise is caused by poor contact between the guide plate and the mounting support. To eliminate this concern, the material of the pads has been changed to copper-free and the specification of the shims has been changed to a coated spring with tape. Rear Brake Noise Symptom 2: Some vehicles equipped with an electric parking brake (EPB) may exhibit a grinding noise from the rear brakes when braking. This may be caused by the rear brake pads not having the capability to remove the rust from the rear brake discs. The red rust accumulated on the discs is exposed to high temperatures during braking, and consequently the rust turns black. As the black rust is too hard to be removed by the brake pads, the rust progress is accelerated, resulting in the grinding noise. |
| 01-005-23 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may experience the check engine light ON with DTC P0126:00 (Thermostat stuck open) and one or more of the following symptoms: The engine takes longer to warm up. The engine temperature gauge fluctuates. The low coolant temperature indicator (blue) light stays on longer or comes on while driving. Poor heater performance, especially at idle. NOTE: Vehicles with SKYACTIV-G 2.5T are not applicable. If DTC P2B61:00 (Coolant control valve circuit range/performance) accompanies DTC P0126:00, this TSB is not applicable. Diagnose according to the instructions on MGSS online. Due to production variety of the failsafe thermostat integrated in the coolant control valve, engine coolant may enter into a dry hollow in the failsafe thermostat, resulting in unintended opening of the failsafe thermostat at lower temperatures (104-176 °F (40-80 °C)). To eliminate this concern, the production process of the coolant control valve has been modified. |
| 01-004-23 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may have the check engine light on with DTC P0524:00 or P055F:00 stored in memory. Contamination in the engine oil may cause the engine oil solenoid valve to become stuck, resulting in improper operation of the oil pump and improper oil pressure. DTC P0524:00 (Engine oil pressure too low), DTC P055F:00 (Engine oil pressure malfunction). The control software of the PCM has been modified to eliminate this concern. In addition, the production process has been modified to reduce contamination in the engine oil solenoid valve, oil pump, spacer and oil filter. |
