Service bulletins for the 2018 Mazda CX-5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

03-002-18-35052018-09-10. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT. Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the right front driveshaft at the transaxle when driving. This concern is likely to occur when driving at speeds between 37-50 mph (60-80 km/h) with the ATF at normal operating temperature. The noise is caused by stick/slip between the oil seal at the transaxle and the dust cover of the driveshaft. To correct this issue, the thickness of the dust cover has been increased.

Some vehicles may experience a lack of power and the check engine light on with DTC P061B:00 stored in the PCM memory when engine cranking is interrupted. This concern most likely occurs when the brake pedal is released during engine cranking. DTC P061B:00 - [PCM] Internal control module torque calculation performance problem. A blurry rear view monitor display. This may be caused by an aftermarket accessory device. Some aftermarket electrical devices (e.g., an accessory cell phone charger) may create excessive electrical noise. The noise may interrupt some of the vehicle electrical systems. Below are a few examples of an aftermarket cell phone charger that is interrupting the vehicle electrical systems.
MT-006-182018-08-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE. This may be caused by low vehicle battery voltage.
MT-004-182018-08-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. ELECTRICAL CONCERN AND/OR MULTIPLE DTC'S DUE TO AFTERMARKET DEVICE: If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal Workshop Manual diagnosis. Some customers may complain about one or more warning lights ON when they start the vehicle during hot weather. The combination of warning lights mentioned by the customer may include: SCBS/SBS LAS/LDWS HBC Master Warning Light Instrument Cluster Multi-Information Display (if equipped) warning messages may include: Forward Smart City Brake Support Malfunction. Smart Brake System Malfunction. Front Camera Sensor System Malfunction. MAZDA CONNECT center display warning messages may include: High Beam Control [HBC] / Lane-keep Assist System [LAS] Malfunction. Have the vehicle checked by a dealer if this indicator stays on. Smart City Brake Support [SCBS] Malfunction. Have the vehicle checked by a dealer immediately. Note: The center display Warning Messages are only displayed when the customer selects Applications>Vehicle Status Monitor>Warning Guidance>Warnings. This condition may be caused by the FSC not being durable enough in high temperatures. [Earlier production Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3 and CX-5 until summer 2017] The warning lights may stay on and these functions are deactivated until the ignition switch is turned off. Both U3000:98 (FSC) and U3000:04 (FSC) are stored. U3000:04 - Forward sensing camera (FSC) internal malfunction. If only U3000:04 (FSC) is stored, this TSB does not apply. This condition may be caused by FSC control logic that is too sensitive. When the FSC detects DTC U3000:98 during high temperature, it stops the internal communication and stores DTC U3000:04. DTC U3000:04 will not clear and SCBS/SBS, LAS/LDWS, and/or HBC functions will not resume until the ignition switch has been turned OFF even if the temperature of the FSC cools.

Engine oil dilution with fuel occurring under this specific driving condition is normal with direct injection engines. If the vehicle is driven on a longer trip after a lot of short trips (where the engine reaches normal operating temperature), the Check Engine Light may turn ON with DTC P0172:00 (Fuel system too rich).
SA-024-182018-07-02. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD. Some customers may complain of a lack of power under heavy load without any warning lights or DTCs. This concern may be due to a loose or detached hood weatherstrip, which can cause a blockage or restriction in the air intake system.
SA-023-182018-07-02. Service bulletin. LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS:HIGH/LOW BEAM DIMMER SWITCH. Some vehicles may have DTC C1001:92 stored in memory.
