Some vehicles may exhibit that the SBS/SCBS warning light (amber) turns ON right after the engine is started with DTC U0420:68 [FSC] stored in memory. • DTC U0420:68 [Forward sensing camera (FSC)]: Error signal received from electric power steering (EPS) control module. For Mazda6 and CX-5, the following error messages may appear in the instrument cluster. • Front camera sensor system malfunction • Forward Smart City Brake Support Malfunction • Driver attention alert system malfunction. This may be caused by the battery voltage falling and the EPS control module failing the initial learning for the steering center position while cranking. The FSC detects the error notified by the EPS control module. To correct this concern, the control software of the EPS control module has been modified while the repair procedure modifies the FSC for earlier repairs in the market.
09-030-20-37402020-10-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. All Mazda Connect vehicles in new car inventory must be updated to the software version listed below in this TSB as part of the New Car Ready Step 3 process. Make sure the new vehicle specialist receives a copy of this bulletin. Some vehicles may experience the symptoms mentioned below, which can be fixed with the latest software update (Version 70.00.367 or later). NOTE: For 2016 CX-9 with version earlier than 59.00.441, the tachometer function will be removed from the Active Driving Display as part of Mazda’s continuing efforts to improve safety and reduce driver distraction. Please explain this to the customer before updating the software. If the customer agrees, turn off the tachometer display on the AD-Display tab in MAZDA CONNECT Settings before performing the update.
05-002-20-3704a2020-10-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; POWER TRAIN. Some customers may complain about a surging at low speeds and during acceleration. This surging is in the longitudinal direction, felt about 2 cycles per second, and occurs in the locked up 1st gear. This may be caused by the torque fluctuation and the torsional resonance in the torque converter. To correct this concern, the PCM software has been modified to reduce the torque fluctuation.
SA-063-202020-09-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. When performing vehicle services such as control unit software update, control unit registration/activation, CMU log data retrieval, etc., always use the GR8 battery charger SST to maintain battery voltage.
MT-003-202020-09-01. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may complain about an inoperative power liftgate (PLG) and the any of the following DTC's stored in memory: • U3003:16 (Power liftgate (PLG) control module power supply voltage low input) • U3003:17 (Power liftgate (PLG) control module power supply voltage high input). This may be caused by low or high vehicle battery voltage.
MT-001-202020-08-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal Workshop Manual diagnosis. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Ask the customer if any aftermarket devices have been installed. Below are a couple of examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by aftermarket devices.
06-003-20-37182020-08-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STEERING. Some customers may complain of a steering wheel vibration (in a rotational direction), when they are not holding onto the steering wheel. The vibration stops when holding onto the steering wheel or when driving. This may be caused by improper control logic of the EPS control module. To eliminate this concern, the EPS control logic has been modified.
08-001-20-3696a2020-07-02. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience the airbag warning light ON with DTC B00A0:09 stored in the SAS control module memory when the battery voltage is low. • DTC B00A0:09 (Occupant classification sensor internal signal output unstable). This concern is caused by the low voltage detection time of the occupant classification sensor (OCS) being too short during cranking, which causes detection of the DTC unnecessarily. The concern occurs more often in colder weather when greater electric current is consumed to start the vehicle. To eliminate this concern, the OCS has been modified to avoid unnecessary DTC detection. NOTE: • Even if the voltage is recovered after the engine is started, the airbag warning light stays ON during the drive cycle. • When the battery voltage becomes stable after the engine is started, the airbag system will operate normally.
09-019-20-36862020-05-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may find that the liftgate does not close when pressing the power liftgate (PLG) rear switch (A) located on the interior liftgate trim. This may be caused by PLG switch corrosion. Water from condensation may drip onto the switch connector and cause corrosion.
SA-041-202020-04-06. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Some customers may complain about incorrect MAZDA CONNECT clock time. This may be caused by an incorrect clock GPS Sync setting.
SA-025-202020-02-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT. A valve tapping or knocking noise may be heard from the top end after the engine cools down (the vehicle is parked overnight) or after it has been idling for an extended time. The tapping noise will decreases as the vehicle is being driven or if the rpm is held above 2500-3000 RPM. This may be caused by the valve Hydraulic Lifters (HLA) bleeding down as the engine cools or when the engine has been idling for an extended period of time, creating excessive valve lash clearance.
SA-011-20a2020-02-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some customers may complain about a MAZDA CONNECT system reboot or blank screen. Use the troubleshooting chart below to repair the vehicle.

SA-009-202020-01-30. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; STRUCTURE. LACK OF POWER UNDER HEAVY LOAD WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS OR DTCS: Some customers may complain of a lack of power under heavy load without any warning lights or DTCs. This concern may be due to a loose or detached hood weatherstrip, which can cause a blockage or restriction in the air intake system.
01-002-20-36782020-01-30. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some vehicles may experience the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON with DTC P2610 and P2507 stored in memory after engine start and room fuse 15A (A) removed.• P2610:00: Instrument cluster internal engine off timer performance problem • P2507:00: PCM battery voltage low input. As a past malfunction, the customer will not notice it (no warning light illuminated), but the DTC may be found during a vehicle service. P2507 in this situation is only applicable on 2016 and later models. This is caused by the engine being started 3 or more times after a short duration of engine off (less than 15 seconds) with the room fused removed. NOTE: The odometer will display “F0-002” during transport mode (room fuse 15A removed). Transport mode is canceled when room fuse 15A is installed or the vehicle odometer is more than 12.4mi (20km).Vehicles in dealer inventory with this concern should be repaired using the following repair procedure.
