Service bulletins for the 2024 Kenworth T380

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

A warning will appear on the dash display when communication is lost, including transmission or engine warnings, “!” next to DNR/DNRP indicator, “-“ in the DNR/DNRP indicator, and/or chimes, depending upon whether you are operating a diesel/gas or battery electric vehicle.
25KWB2025-04-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EXTERIOR LIGHTING. Safety Recall Updated software and repair procedures are now available. The Exterior Lighting Switch (ELS) in certain T180/T280/T380/T480 chassis may not function and can be reset only by a key cycle. This issue may result in non-compliance with FMVSS/CMVSS 101 and 108. Affected chassis must have the Vehicle Software updated.
T020 - KW2025-04-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. T180/T280/T380/T480 PACCAR TX-8 Transmission Software Update for Wheel Speed Sensor Fix-As-Fail Certain T180 / T280 / T380 / T480 chassis equipped with a PACCAR TX-8 transmission received transmission software with an incorrect software variable. This software issue may cause Wheel Speed Sensor DTC 521215-2 to set, the Transmission Dash Light to Illuminate, and restricted shifting . A software update is now available to fix the issue.
25KWB2025-03-04. Other. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. "Safety Recall – Interim Notification The Exterior Lighting Switch (ELS) in certain T180/T280/T380/T480 chassis may not function and can be reset only by a key cycle. This issue may result in non-compliance with FMVSS/CMVSS 101 and 108. This bulletin will be updated when software and programming procedures are available."
25KWA2025-02-05. Service bulletin. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. Safety Recall – Interim Notification Certain vehicles may have an oversized magnet carrier in the throttle pedal assembly. The magnet carrier acts as the pivot for the throttle pedal. An oversized magnet carrier may cause the throttle pedal to stick. If the throttle pedal fails to return to idle, or sticks, it may increase the risk of a crash. Drivers may feel sticking or that the pedal doesn’t return to idle once released. Pressing the service brake will overcome a stuck throttle pedal and allow the vehicle to stop. This bulletin will be updated when parts and procedures are available.
R2306 - KW2024-12-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Retrofit This retrofit provides new MY24 emissions labels and replaces pre-production parts and software with production level parts and software on certain Model Year 2024 chassis. Reference the “Retrofit Parts Matrix” in the Links section below to determine which chassis are eligible and parts required to complete the Retrofit. The emissions exemption for all PACCAR MX powered chassis involved in this retrofit expires on 10/31/2024. After that date, all PACCAR MX powered chassis that have not received this Retrofit will be out of emissions compliance and illegal to operate. Certain Cummins powered chassis listed on the “Retrofit Parts Matrix” may also require completion of Cummins Retrofit C7014, accessed through Cummins QuickServe. Cummins powered chassis may also be subject to emissions exemption expiration. Refer to engine emissions label to determine if an exemption expiration date applies. Chassis equipped with PACCAR MX engines will receive redesigned fuel injectors to optimize engine performance.
51-0172024-05-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Certain Kenworth T180/T280/T380/T480 trucks may have mis-pinned wires for the Bluetooth system which may cause the Bluetooth to not function properly when the driver tries to make/receive a call.
51-0172024-05-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:BLUETOOTH/WIFI; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:SOFTWARE. Certain Peterbilt 535, 536, 537, 548 chassis may have mis-pinned wires for the Bluetooth system, which may cause Bluetooth to not function properly when the driver tries to make/receive a call.
24KWE2024-04-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Safety Recall – INTERIM NOTIFICATION Parts are not currently available for this safety recall. This bulletin will be updated once repair parts are available. The right-hand shift stalk may have an improper wire harness terminal crimp within the wire harness connector. Loss of communication between the right-hand shift stalk and the transmission may result in the vehicle becoming disabled after it comes to a stop thereby increasing the risk of crash or injury. A transmission fault will appear on the dash display if communication is lost.
Fuse Holder2024-03-06. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. The battery box located directly under the driver's side doorsteps of the cab is equipped with a 50A fuse and fuse holder that is connected directly to the battery for constant power. This fuse powers a 70A relay that is used for the safety systems of the truck and is located on the right rear side of the battery box. Due to the fitment of the battery box lid from the chassis manufacturers, moisture and debris are able to fall through the space between the battery box lid and side of the battery box body. This may lead to corrosion of the fuse and holder, which may result in failure of the fuse, loss of current flow, and ultimately the inability to operate the truck. This quality issue affects Kenworth T380 and Peterbilt 537 chassis on Jarco propane bobtail units produced from January 2023 until January 2024.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
