Service bulletins for the 2017 Honda Pilot

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

181 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

"Service Bulletin - The MIL comes on with DTC P0430 (front bank catalyst system efficiency below threshold [bank 2]). Additionally, one or more of the following DTCs may also be stored: -P030X (misfire) -P219A (air-fuel ratio variation of cylinder [bank 1, rear bank]) -P219B (air-fuel ratio variation of cylinder [bank 2, front bank])"
AVE021420189012018-02-26. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER. Dealer message - Every Service Bulletin requires you to take an HDS snap shot and use the job aid or Tech2Tech to confirm the judder/shudder is coming from the torque converter.
Customer Letter2017-10-21. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Customer letter - On a limited number of 2016?17 Pilot vehicles, the 9-speed automatic transmission fluid (ATF) warmer may leak internally. If the ATF warmer leaks, you may notice one or more of the following symptoms: ? The vehicle overheats. ? The transmission shifts poorly. ? The transmission makes noise during shifting.
Customer Letter2017-10-21. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Customer letter - Your 2016 or 2017 Pilot previously had the transmission replaced because of a leaking 9-speed automatic transmission fluid (ATF) warmer. As the issue was under investigation when the transmission was replaced, your vehicle needs further action before it is completely repaired.
A17-0362017-09-27. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Service bulletin - The MIL comes on with DTC P0430 (front bank catalyst system efficiency below threshold [Bank 2]). The PCM software may misinterpret sensor inputs as a deteriorated catalytic converter.
A17-0352017-09-14. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Service bulletin - American Honda is extending the warranty on the 9-speed transmission warmers to 10 years from the original date of purchase with unlimited mileage. This warranty covers vehicles where the engine coolant and ATF mix because of an internal leak in the 9-speed transmission warmer.
A17-0112017-09-14. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Service bulletin - Some 9-speed transmission warmers were improperly manufactured and allow the engine coolant and ATF to mix. If the fluids mix, the engine and transmission may be permanently damaged and require replacement. These vehicles previously had the transmission replaced because the transmission warmers leaked. In rare cases, these vehicles may have also overheated but because the issue was under investigation, a standard repair procedure hadn't been developed. Further action is needed before the vehicle is completely repaired.
A17070C2017-08-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER. Service news article - Because of a transmission case casting flaw, the inside of the torque converter bracket hole in some 9-speed A/Ts is porous enough that ATF could leak from the hole. This flaw was found by the transmission factory during production.
A17-0152017-07-28. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER. Service bulletin - A judder from the torque converter lock-up clutch may be felt while driving between 20 and 60 mph. The problem is typically diagnosed as a bad torque converter.
